    Thanks for the video. As a baseball pitcher, anyone who coaches Discgolf with baseball tips is a win for me. I’ll be practicing this drill right away.
    As a pitcher it’s been drilled into my head to keep my front shoulder “closed” don’t open up.
    Haven’t heard to much chatter about that in the Discgolf world and I’m wondering if my front shoulder should stay closed when throwing forehand or if it’s different mechanics.
    Any help on this would be wonderful.
    Thanks

      You keep it closed as late as you can for sure. I would say think of pitching sidearm. Let me test some things out, and I can do a video on it. Welcome to the channel!

    Makes total sense. That range of motion is key. I've been messing around with index finger only, PAD on inner rim. I like it but I'm BH dominant player fyi....what say you?

    • @discsmd
      @discsmd  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I know people who throw like that and love it. I have tried and just can't get my mind to process one finger. Probably because I am too used to throwing a baseball/softball? But the process behind it should be identical.

    Thanks for the video, I subbed right away! I'm 5'4" and really only throw forehand. Ever since my friends got me into discgolf, I've always been able to throw further than all of them with a forehand. They just can't understand it lol! It's all about form and I feel forehand is just like skipping stones... I've always been killer at skipping stones lol.

      was just thinking about skipping stones, and I feel a good tip to tell people is forehand is like a whip. Starts with shoulders then elbow then wrist and finish with fingers to get that snap like a whip!

      @discsmd  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yep, that end snap is going to be a focus of a future video. That was another issue of mine. Thanks for the sub!!

    Great video! I think there's one thing that is missed often when talking about throwing a ball sidearm vs throwing a disc sidearm, and you touched on it when talking about throwing a ball in the normal (vertical) arm slot: imparting backspin is what keeps the ball aloft.
    I think it's important to note that this ALSO applies to throwing a ball sidearm -- pronating the wrist helps add SOME backspin (and therefore loft) to the ball, rather than rotating strictly sideways which wouldn't stay aloft as long. For many people who have played baseball or softball for a long time (myself included), they still have that tendency to pronate the wrist at release, and as you mentioned, it contributes to the wobble when throwing a disc sidearm.
    Anyways, thanks again for the video, and for helping something "click" in my head about my own form (even if it resulted in a critique of your video)!

    Great video. Your keeping it simple. Yep keep the finger behind the ball otherwise too much pressure on one side gives a slider or other breaking ball. I played baseball and pitched in High School. Since discovering disc golf I regret never becoming a switch hitter. RHBH is so hard because your now a left handed batter.
    Hoping this year to get my FH down. I just watch one of Josh's video and it was enlightening. Yours just solidifies it.
    Thanks a ton brother, and keep the verses coming!
