A top video of a great 'Mini' break Matt. I had a couple of classic Minis back in the 80's and they were both quite old then. My very tired 1000 and my rather sprightly Clubman Estate 1100 who I sold to a lass who wanted it when she went to university. Annoyingly it was scrapped it after a year or two. We all make mistakes I guess. I'd have loved to have kept that one on the road. I've not been to the Isle of Wight for 50 years so thanks for the reminder for me to visit again, this time with me driving. Many thanks for sharing.
work used to take me on the IoW regularly - lovely place - like the 1960's with modern cars....... I talked to a guy who said he never locked his car ( he had an old Avenger ) and he just said "whats the point - where are thieves gonna take it and if they are thieves they don't have the money for a ferry" - he had a point I suppose. This was early/mid 90's

Love a Mini event. We had so much fun doing the London Brighton run in 2013 and it's great seeing people come out to wave and spectate.
The good thing about classic Minis in the rain is getting to put on the wipers which is a bit like watching a puppet show. Your Y plate looks glorious though. Those were always my favourite alloys on the new Mini.
The Furious Driving monument is so good.
One doesn't see too many BMC Gold Seal factory rebuilt exchange engines around these days, they were painted gold, many having been repainted now, it was a very useful service that was available across the BMC range through the dealers, if one was very lucky and yours was out of stock one got a brand new one for the same price, the service is as dead as the Dodo today. It was great to see so many still original there, hope you keep yours as original as possible. A bit out of date there Matt with the Popmaster reference.
Soo many minis l did like the mini utes never came to Australia but we did get the Mini Clubman van

I never comment on a video but I feel a bit silly as I live in Cowes, have a Mini Inspired by Goodwood (903) and did not know this event was on 🤪 As ever a jot to watch, keep up the good work!

Enjoyed your video. I was on the island at the same time with a group of Armstrong Siddeleys and as we toured around the island last week I was pleased to see so many of your friends' Minis that had stayed on after your event. Don't forget to book in for the forthcoming IMM at Lutterworth. My niece is one of the organisers.

I was at the show in our Rover Mini for the first time this year. It was great fun and there were so many Minis! Sadly didn't see you as we spent most of the weekend exploring the island in a convoy of other Minis. There was a great turnout and we got so lucky with the weather (on the Saturday at least haha). Great video!

I had forgotten I had ever been to Isle of Wight until you mentioned Osborne House, which I have visited. I had a job interview at Westland Helicopters in Cowes.
Very interesting indeed! I remember when the last real Minis were being sold on this side of the pond. I was sorely tempted, but I knew what our winters would do to one. It would most definitely not have been pretty. Also, I'm not sure 10 inch winter tires existed. LoL. Great fun, though.

Thanks for the Boo around the Island, when my cousin ran our ancestry, they found some of our folk as weir keepers on the Isle in the 17th century, always wanted a look in. Cheers

The rocket suddenly told me where you where, as I am a flight entusiast I recall seeing it before in a general aviation group. I think it is the same airfield that has a skeleton named Sid manning the tower and they put Astro turf on the runway and some of the taxiway to keep it running when it is more wet! :) I'm not 100% sure I don't mix things up though! :)
Also on the IOW you can visit the rocket test site near the Needles. Incidentally the Rolls-Royce rocket engines were originally designed by Armstrong Siddeley Motors.

I was on the Isle of Wight when I saw your video pop up in my notifications ... I've only just managed to watch it after a hectic week at work, and spot Fort Victoria ... I was working in the corner office when I got the notification ... shame I didn't take a break from work to watch this from where part of it was filmed!
My neighbour knows the guy who owns that airport/ field.

Couple of things. Seeing people in the sea around the UK just makes me nervous now about what they could be swimming in, since water companies now know they'll get little more than a slap for crud-dumping.
As for the slow Hyundai, I believe their brand is the choice for geriatrics to spend their motability on. Sadly, not all old folk should be on the road anymore, but we'll give that one the benefit of the doubt they were being cautious!

The same can be said for some 20 year old idiots on the road or 30 year olds who have no coordination. I got overtaken by a woman in a Suzuki Ignis the other day. She then went into second on the grid at the traffic lights. As soon as they went green she got the jump on the Toyota Prius taxi driver, went round the outside of him and then darted off a slip road. I finally caught up to for the briefest moment. She was not a day less than 85 and I can only assume was a Rosemary Smith or Pat Moss type in her day.
That was a very enjoyable video indeed!

Great video. Couple of things…. Being from the IOW! There have been so many land slips that you can longer drive from Shanklin to Ventnor! 😢 or take a thru route along Ventnor seafront! Hope the island is still here next time you come visit! 😂

Did you realise that you had caught a HubNut Wiper moment at 8:16? The Black Mini with the White Bonnet and the unusual Wiper arrangement.
What would be interesting in the future is if you can attend this event with both this one and the old one you're currently restoring when that's finished.
What is happening with the classic mini? I thought this would be back on the road by Christmas 😆

In the minority here. I love the minis and did my apprenticeship on them. Then when these new minis came was surprised how large they were and I dont consider them a minio despite the name.

I think these first Minis were inspired (like your Cooper)…sadly, slowly but surely, they’ve ruined it for me. I’m sure these will be a classic in the future…if we’re allowed to use these cars at a sensible price!
I agree the original New Minis were the best of the modern breed
