More pre war vehicles please Matt, my favourite era, the 30's, along with immediate post war but still of pre design. Owned a few, one T boned, O/S rear, by a M/C and written off as the chassis was twisted and fractured along with much shattered woodwork, 3 ft forward and I may have been brown bread, the rider landed in a hedge. The TD Garage Inspector estimated his speed at impact at over 60mph. I Found its engine in an auto jumble a few years later at an Agricultural Vintage Show searching for LR parts, recognised from the engraved plate I attached to the block with the date I rebuilt it along with my initials. Sorry you did not find any parts, at least you were disciplined and did not buy stuff.
"Yes please" to more pre-war content, Matt! Looking at those enamel signs, some heritage railways are often on the lookout for those... but they do get nicked :( Why 'Virol' should be good for nervous people though, I have no idea.
@ 13:33 . It's "Duck, Son & Pinker"!! They dealt in Musical Instruments, Sheet Music and everything in between (including Church Organ Repair!!). One of those "staple" Bath shops, that was traditional as Christmas in my childhood. Sadly no longer trading from their store, on the side of Pultney Bridge, as they went to administration back in 2011. Today, I believe that someone bought rights to the the name and is trading from a small music store in Bristol though!
I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. I've been to the Beaulieu car museum but not when the autojumble is going on. I know a couple people who have been. Our American Equivalent is the famous AACA Hershey PA event held at the Hersheypark fairgrounds, annually in early Oct. Our is such, you can't possibly cover it in one day. The two Americans you met, I'm a bit surprised they didn't bring it up. But I'll bet they are the ones who set up that giant tent on the red field every year which features American LaFrance Fire Engines. Can't miss them. Yes, lots of porcelain signs. But over here, you really have to be careful. So many fakes / reproductions around. I have a couple guys on 'speed dial' as it were, when I come across something of interest. It's so easy to get burned. I'm not sure if you have the same problem. It's gotten really bad over here. One of these years I'll make it to the Auto Jumble. I'm really into old bikes more than old cars, I saw some motorcycle content - but I'd go just to say I've done it.
I attended on my honeymoon in 2000. I asked my new wife if she would like to see one of the "treasure houses" of the UK. She thought we were going to see an old house that also had a car museum on site. Imagine her surprise when she showed up and saw the autojumble! After walking through the whole autojumble, she said "That's it? This isn't even one tenth the size of Hershey!" But, she was pretty impressed when I walked up to the Daimler club, told them who I was, and at least a dozen people came up to talk to me, because they'd communicated with me over the internet.
It would be great to have more pre war vehicles. They need more exposure to bring new people into the fold. The best cars to tinker with. Also great to see Andy Saunders !
Tools, Typewriters, Cameras and a Samba front bumper. I got to get to this and I actually don't need anything. Range Rover 3 door wings and Furious seems to miss the fact that they are loaded onto the bed of an Original Jeep Gladiator. Beautiful old Hymer Motorhome in the last seconds of the video.
At 19.53 the red w123 estate was president of the RSR's car - we were all selling Rover spares quite literally behind you! The transit camper that was also out of shot has featured on your channel before at the RSR icebreaker last year 😅
Brilliant Video Matt, I could be there all day looking at all the signs like the AA ones, Petrol Signs and signs you would see outside the dealers back in the day.
It's a tragedy in a way that values are falling for some pre war cars because no one cares now. My Dad knew all the makes and models and could wax lyrical about them having grown up in the 1940's. If you did feature pre war cars, you would be providing a service if anything of promoting something I loved seeing in the 70's and eighties. More importantly, educating people about the importance of the early days of motoring. I have three or four photos taken at a Brands Hatch Car show event in the early Eighties. It was a delight to find at least one car photographed is still around today
Hi Matt, brilliant video. I was also there rummaging through the chaos, it was a brilliant day out. Matt are you selling the 75 and would you be interested in a part exchange for a rather nice Fiat Uno Turbo?
if the right offer comes along the 75 is for sale, but I need the money and have something ready to fill the space when its gone, although Id love to see the Uno...
You really have to be there early, before the time wasters clog up the stalls. Don't forget to haggle as some of them will try to pull your pants down 😂
What day and time was this Matt? It looked very quiet with a severe lack of punters. I think the guy with the piano on his stand was Sam Glover. Not sure if he is still with Practical Classics. Edit - he left in 2020. Last went 2021 after nearly 30 years in a row. It's not a patch on what it used to be. Thanks eBay! 123 grilles are common and cheap.
Yes, I always went both days. Unfortunately even on Saturday a lot of stuff has always been been picked off by the dealers and other "privileged" visitors on the Friday. Maybe you will go to the car show at Aylesford Friary this Sunday, 10th? A good show. Battlesbridge Autojumble 24th September.
Love the Beaulieu Autojumble, couldn't go this year sadly. Not a fan of pre-war cars personally. I appreciate them, but they dont interest me, not something I'd watch. 50's on is generally what I like.
Great stuff about and the Honda Cub is a Honda CT70 Monkey Bike and same engine as a cub and there handle bars fold down and great fun for shows and rallies ;-)
if anything they're getting more popular now. If Id bought an Austin 7 when I first thought about it I could have had a minter for £3000, same car now is 8 or 9
@@furiousdriving They peaked a while ago. The generation that was interested in them is getting smaller and smaller. It is simply supply and demand. But hey buy one and let’s find out in 10 years
@ianjenkins4641 you are correct, in my classic club those who know are saying exactly as you did here. We had a classic run for those with them and you can see the owners are nearly the same age as the cars. Nobody else in the club are interested in them. Matt won't listen to sence. Maybe this little car is the exception as it wouldn't take up much space....
It's been that way for some time, your hoping that people half the age of the cars take an interest in something that was way before their time. Often the reason for interest in an older car is it's relatable. I can't relate to something that far away from my generation sadly. I think 50's stuff will start going the same way soon.
There's a copy of a Mini/City-EL promotional video on my channel. I drove a 100mph modified one back in the late 90's whilst involved in EV racing in the US.
The two cars my dad and my uncles lint to drive in my grandfathers model T and his Morris bullnose he used to have a garage business back in the day he was a filter and turner by trader my grandma mother saved up so when he came out the army after the First World War he could start his own garage business he did a lot of work on the local taxes my uncle’s group to be mechanics my dad was in the Second World War but he new about cars but was never a mechanic the job I won’t to do when I left school but I ended up has a telephone engineer

@@jefferycooper7339 I didn't mind that so much (considering it gets you into the museum as well, for less than the cost of a museum ticket on any other day) - it was the cost of food and drink that I found eye watering.

If I ever visit UK, I would make sure it’s during that ultimate swap meet.
I would love to see you buy and run a pre-war car, especially in winter!

More prewar, especially Rileys!
Did u use the tea shelf?
I love pre-war vehicles, more please. Get yourself something, so cheap these days. Something with a decent spares backup like an Austin 7.
Shopping list , Sunscreen, plenty of time and ? Your wife’s CREDIT CARD Matt 😂, you always forget the most important part of the equation 😁👌🏻.
I have to get to this next year 👍👍

Awesome show and great cars, thanks for sharing Matt, much appreciated 👍😊

More pre war cars would be appreciated 👍
Agh, what were you gonna say at the start about the Rover 75 😂
finished later - its got a tiny boot so no big silly buys!
I went Saturday, getting smaller every year
Good video Matt 🚗🚙🚘⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍👍👍👏👏👏👏

Sorry to be a pedant Matt but its a Union Jack when flown at sea ( Jolly Jack Tars and all that ) but on land its the Union flag
I knew someone would pick up on that!
"Pre-war"?
Which war?
pre war cars are proper cars
A lot of oo ah moments

@FuriousDriving , u kidding re President Trumps flag ????? Right ???
he did it to get a reaction...and did!
Great place, but I refuse to pay the astronomical Gate fee
You wouldn't like the classic car show at the NEC then.....
Do you mean sellers/exhibitors fee or just punters entrance fee?
