    Heath (& Cedar), I am so glad you finally have a truck which you are so happy with. I think the ‘Young Heath’ in you must be dancing and singing along. You’ve waited years for this to happen, CONGRATS 🥳 on getting a bit of what you want. You’ve worked so hard for so long on the house, getting everything so perfectly finished, now a little of that for you. That is wonderful.
    Go for your drives snd enjoy what you have ‘yearned’ for, for so long.
    God Bless you all and take time o relax and enjoy your rewards.
    All my love, Ellen. D.

    Regarding chickens, I just saw the coolest thing. Apparently pumpkin is very good for chickens. These people had hung their pumpkin up in their chicken barn so it hung about 6 inches off the floor. The chickens peck at it and it will gradually disappear because they love it. I'm not sure, but I think they cut the hard peel off in a couple of places, maybe to get them started. I just thought it was a cool idea, but I don't have the ability to raise chickens so have to live vicariously through others.

    Nothing better than an old reliable diesel truck. Might be a good idea to mount one or two underbody toolboxes on the flatbed, I have a skirted flatbed with integrated boxes on my truck and not having to climb up onto the bed for tie downs and miscellaneous tools is a game changer! Love the videos as always!

    My buddy told me he put a reverse camera on his roof pointing towards the 5th wheel n also the trailer hitch on the frame n makes it much easier for hooking up trailers by yourself that would be a great idea as well

    Heath love the first gen, I used to work for a salvage yard even many years ago. Are flatbed truck had a diesel tank on it like yours only difference was just we cut a hole in the bed. And drop the diesel tank into the bed and let it sit on the frame of the truck, and then we put the tool box on top it gave us a better view out the back, work out pretty good. Just a suggestion.

    Simplicity in design and the engines accessible. That's one of the reasons I went with my 2003 3500 Cummins. I'm actually getting ~22 mpg in and around the city. The engine and 5-speed transmission have been awesome, but the dash looks like a jigsaw puzzle. LMC replacement dash is in her future. I should roll up and past 150,000 miles in the coming week. Really enjoying the truck content as a change of pace from the house, but looking forward to the start of the goat hotel. Hope you have a little more time for firewood collection before the full winter kicks in.

    I've had great success with my chickens laying in the winter by putting a light on a timer so they have light for at least 16 hours a day...I've read that chickens need that much light going through their eyes to keep laying normal...you can research it but I've had good luck doing that good luck!!

  • @benjaminbagley4168
    @benjaminbagley4168 2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    Egg production is more closely tied to hours of light in a day. You can increase their productivity by adding light in the coop. Some people prefer to let their chickens go through that natural decrease. Personally I have timers and whole production still decreases it isn’t as drastic

    It is a pleasure to hear you talk Cummins diesel. I understand your interest in Gen One. When I was selling Rams, yes a gal selling trucks, often I would get phone calls from cattle ranchers looking for exactly what you have there to use as feed trucks. Put it in granny low and let it idle while tossing bales off the back. In 2003 when the quieter 24 valve came out many people came in because the wife hated the noise of the older Cummins. No emissions issues on yours either! Proud of your choice Heath!

    I found a great old Jeep Comanche pickup. I am toying with the idea of putting a small diesel in it as a backup to my 2021 F-250 Diesel. If something ever happens to that 2021 truck there is no hope of me fixing anything major likely. Having a few simple vehicles around would be real peace of mind. PS keep adding in some kitchen preservation videos. Not just processing but perhaps planning as well. How much to plant to end up with certain amount of preserved items. Etc. I can wild game and fish as well. I never hear you talk about hunting much but you likely have abundance of game around you!

    Heath and Cedar great videos and love your delivery of content. While I respect opinion on diesels I still wonder about your comment on efficiency. I am running a 21 Ram 2500 short bed with the 6.4 Hemi and on the road have been over 18mpg. Around here diesel fuel cost about .50cents a gallon more than diesel not to mention the higher maintenance costs of the diesel. While I believe a diesel is the way to go if your working a truck everyday I have a tuff time justifying as a daily driver. I tow a 5th wheel camper as well as several other trailers and am sure my yearly expenses are less than 1/2 what a diesel is.

    • @wildbill23c
      @wildbill23c 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the only time a diesel makes any sense is if you got it loaded down and doing long trips with it every day, all day. Using one as a grocery getter, mall crawler, mini van isn't going to do anything for you in savings, diesel...diesel...diesel, just keep mentioning that word every where you go, for parts, service, repairs, fuel, and the dollar signs start rolling...everything costs more, and unless you are keeping it forever you'll never make up for all the added costs associated with one.

    My love for Jehovah has pulled me through dark times. The love from my brothers and sisters is keeping me going. This channel I must say has really contributed and helped me with my mental health. Heath I love you ethics. A man who loves God, has respect for life, for women, for his children, his family, friends and neighbours, a joy to watch. How can anyone not love this man? I was away in hospital for 6months because of an illness so I’ve been watching from where I left off. I tried to watch some in hospital but pain was interrupting my focus. Trust me Heath when I say you have a positive impact on my life. Your channel is a joy to watch. God bless you and your family. ❤️

    If your youngest son gets any taller he's gonna need some new clothes. We remember when he used to love to dab when you all wanted the kids to be in one of the videos.

    You just need to bump that timeing a tiny bit. It will clear the smoke up. It will run cooler. Have more get up. Also I would say when ur lift pump fails do a piston lift pump. Much more reliable

    testing of our device was very rewarding, showing positi9ve dyno testing results. EPA very interested in our product, just running out of funds and health issues with the inventor that is slowing everything down not to mention my run in with strokes, can't walk.

    Nice work, to bad the Chevy is gone, I liked it! To bad you only have a single cab, that little extra room is nice. Maybe a tool box on the side or under the bed so you don't always have to climb up.

      Don’t think he’s worried about the extra room he wants a workhorse flatbed truck for the farm. Them Cummings are the best diesels made in my opinion. In the long many years of Diesel engine production Ive run the old timer engines. I’ve run Detroit engines, I’ve run Mack Engines, & Volvo engines in Tractor Trailers, I drove for years. But the Caterpillar and Cummings are the two best engines I’ve ever had they’ll both pull a 80,000 lb load up a mountain like there’s nothing back there compared to the others I mentioned. I’ve had those other engines sounded like they was struggling to pull the load up the mountains. But Cummings and Caterpillar is the two best in the Diesel world. Chevy Duramax is 100 years behind those other companies in mastering the Diesel engine. And don’t get me wrong I drive a gasoline engine Chevy Truck so I’m not anti Chevy I think they are the best gasoline engine Trucks on the road. But Diesel is a whole nother ball of wax.
      That flat bed Duelly It’ll be nice when Heath’s done with it. Heath’s correct you can work on the older ones these new ones forget fixing it yourself. Because you have to take to the dealership which costs you two arms and one leg.

      I like my regular cab truck...great reason to not have to haul anyone anywhere for one, and it keeps the amount of crap you toss in the cab at a minimum because there's no place to put it.
