    For the 08-14 Sti you should double the o-rings on the housing to prevent a leak with the aem pump

    Thanks for making the video, I have a 09 fxt and it has the same design, wanted to be sure. I suggest using some axle grease or engine oil on the orings when assembling. I do fuel pump recalls at work, and sometimes the oring for the pump splits when cramming it together. You can't see it unfortunately, but eventually the pressure loss will cause issues. It happens every now and then, so we test drive them to double check.

      I agree with a slight amount of engine oil on the o rings, or Vaseline, but not axle grease. Axle grease is thick & if it gets into the lines it will plug up injectors, FPR & other fuel components. Appreciate the comment 🙌🏼

    Thanks for posting the vid! I will have to do this to my Sonata, and the design is very similar.

    make sure you put the second o ring on the came off the pump or you will have low fuel pressure

    Ia it possible to just purxhase and change out the whole assembly? Or does the fuel pump itself come separately?

    Have watched a few video's and yiurs seemed to have been more realistic and time.
    Ive also bought the aem pump same as yours and was wondering how the black and red cable but looks like not going to need it 😁. Another simple job I'll be able to do after new disc's, pads, exhaust and suspension 😀

    @Daniel Killert Did you ever install a hardwire kit? I see people saying they need to install one so the pump gets proper voltage.

    • @DanielKellert
      @DanielKellert  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      No I haven’t hard wired the fuel pump yet. From factory your fuel pump is duty cycled by the factory ecu. This means that the ecu will rapidly turn the fuel pump on/off to achieve the perfect amount of fuel delivered to the injectors based on what the engine is demanding from other sensor readings (throttle position, AFR, MAP, etc.) Hard wiring your fuel pump essentially changes your fuel pump to a constant 12v supply which makes it a 100% duty cycle. 100% duty cycle basically means the fuel pump is on all the time. Hard wiring your fuel pump is common for people to do in high horsepower cars so the injectors have a consistent delivery of fuel, then the injectors are duty cycled to inject the proper amount of fuel into the cylinders. At the power level I’m at (512whp & 440 torque) your don’t NEED to hardwire the pump. The factory ecu can handle duty cycling a 340lph pump & deliver enough fuel. Once you start getting into 450lph+ , or dual fuel pumps, I would highly advise hard wiring them to a constantly 12v supply with an inline relay to turn the pump on with ignition power. Very long reply but tried to give as much info as I could 👍🏼 hope that helps!

      @@DanielKellert Agreed. ^ Unless you're pushing 450+WHP, I wouldn't do the iWire kit. Only really need to do the kit with a new hanger if you're pushing higher power, bigger pumps, bigger lines and injectors which is something you would be doing anyways for a higher HP goal.

    Didn’t you forget the second o ring on top of the fuel pump?

    • @DanielKellert
      @DanielKellert  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yup I did! I had no idea you were supposed to use 2 at the time so I learned the hard way 🤦🏻 I talk about it more in this video th-cam.com/video/NjwcQ9mm_5Q/w-d-xo.html

      @@DanielKellert I had quick question. Did you have to remove the one that was inside the fuel pump housing? Where the fuel pump would sit? I know there is one in there but is that one you have to remove or leave in there?

    • @DanielKellert
      @DanielKellert  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jmadnesstv1167 When you take the pump out, the o ring might get stuck in the housing. If it does, take that o ring out of there & install the spacer & 2 new o rings on the AEM pump!
