Hey man. I strive to comment on all posts asking questions. Just today this is second post asking which ugly stik I use. It is the tiger elite spin jigging rod 6’6” medium heavy action. I have added this information to the description section of all new videos. I am not sure if people get any notification of my responses. Do me a favor and let me know if you are notified of this response. Thank you.
I would say it is too short to cast lures. Unless you’re throwing big poppers or stick baits. On a kayak you generally want shorter rods so you can reach your rod tip (without putting your reel in the water) to sort out problems.
I've been saving this episode for a special day...it was worth it! Hooking a fish like that takes a lot of effort, but landing it seems like a real challenge. Congrats, mighty fine catch!
Just stumbled upon your channel, some of the raddest kayak fishing content i've yet to see on youtube. The raw content and incredible catches has me hooked! Keep doin what youre doing man
Sweet video! Inspiring for sure! When you are ready for custom stuff made for you just let me know... Rods, Gaffs... Kea'au Custom Rods Put your logo, whatever length on whatever blank. I enjoy stoking people that are as stoked as you are to fish. Mahalo
Hello, excellent video. Could you give me some information about the system you have to record? What product is it, if you fit them, etc? or make a video with this information that would be excellent for those who started fishing in kayak. Thank you
Good Day Sir. May i know how do you mount the tall, angle, turn around video camera in the front left of your kayak? do you use any special parts or brand? Thank you
You should run stinger hook on your rig probably would of hooked into what ever was munching on the akule in the earlier part of ghe vid idk just somthing to think about 🤙
I use stinger hooks on and off now, mostly depending on how active the fish are (bite times). I was fishing last night and caught two mahi, without the stinger i would have lost both. Thanks for the tip
Hi. I’m trying to navigate to the websites you have that detail the gear you’re using but those links don’t seem to operate. I’m very new to Oahu and looking to get information on some kayak fishing clubs, get some intel on the appropriate gear set ups for the kind of fishing you’re doing. Can you point me in the right direction for that? I enjoy your videos very much. Thanks. Jim
Awesome video man!! love your editing style and of course the action you are getting. I live on maui and have always been a spearo but getting into the yak world when no dive buddy. Are you a big believer in wire/ thin cable so no matter what hits it you are good? I used to just use heavier mono leader but kept getting the onos snipping the line off. what size hook do you use for cacthing tuna?? I appreciate the insight and if you get over to maui lets fish!
Thanks Brandon! I always start out trips using 40lb mono, if I get cut off by an ono then i'll go to a wire set up. I use 40lb single strand wire with a stinger live bait hook. In my most recent video I show the rig in the beginning. I just have one rod always set up with wire for quick deployment. I just try to make all of my rigs small and as stealthy as possible. I try to match my hooks to the size of my baits, which generally means a 4/0 to 6/0 live bait hook. I like the Gamugatsu live bait hooks. I just caught another 60lb yellow fin tuna using a 5/0 live bait hook. I used to use the 7/0s but now think they are too big. Thanks for you questions, feel free to ask more. th-cam.com/channels/3E2zjNn6au4L3SgY8x3oPg.html
Flying Fish TV thanks for the reply! I agree with you on the smaller hook size. I use the website tidesforfishing for a lot of information but you mentioned in a video the best bite times, how do you determine that? Have you ever used a underwater light at night to help you get bait?
TheMauiForce I use a similar website www.fishingreminder.com/US/charts/fishing_times/Barbers_Point_Housing I would set it to a location close to where you fish. It gives the information for the day (major&minor fishing times, moon rise and set, and sunrise/sunset). If you scroll towards the bottom of the page it gives a 7 day forecast.
Very strong fish vs ideal man nice I have a question there is no ugly stick in the tackle shop here in philipines? Where can I buy for that.More power to your channel
Hooked up to a nice shibi about a week ago. But lost it at the kayak! Let me know if you found any offset hook in its mouth or belly lol could’ve been the one I lost. I was using a soft pole so the fight was about 2 and a half hours of tug o war. But nice catch keep up the awesome videos!
Freshwater seems lame to me... After watching these giants being caught! ❤ I'm in the Midwest surrounded by all freshwater. I need to make a switch.... And soon! 😂
What bran of braid were you using & what test was it?? Also what’s your leader test & your favorite knot from braid to leader?? Any brand you recommend
This might have been on my old setup. But now I have power pro braid 80lb backing to 150ft of 65lb braid via a double uni knot. Then an FG knot to 50ft of fluorocarbon or mono 40lb leader. I like power pro, it has held up well. I need to replace it soon. I would go with a brand that has the smallest diameter for its strength (less drag).
A kayak is comfortable for me at 190lbs and 6ft 1 inch. The only thing I would call a struggle is trying to drag a shark in. Finding and catching fish from a kayak is very rewarding. If you’re lucky enough to hook into a big fish enjoy the fight. Recently I fought a 70lb yellowfin tuna for 2 hours.
I have a 2019 outback too, but I didn’t get a chance to use it before I left. I’ve only used it in a lake here in Georgia once. It would do fine in Hawaii with anything less than 10 knots and with calm seas. The revo really shines when it gets rough and windy. If was blowing 15 knots or more I would take the revo. 15-25 knots wind waves start to break and the revo can cut through them better with its narrower and taller bow. I’m taking the outback down to Florida next month and I will get a better idea of how it performs in the ocean. The outback looks way cooler and if you not a hardcore guy who will fish in any conditions I would go with it. Really the only downside of the outback is the low bow.
@@FlyingFish_TV thank you very much for the feedback. Actually, I’m a hardcore guy and love saltwater fishing, and moreover, I have a car... lol. So, seemed like I’ll go with the Revo as it fits better according to my research and your analysis. Thanks again!!
I feel you man. Can’t change stuff I made months ago. Usually takes about a few months before I am wondering why I thought it was good at the time. The last 10 videos or so are a lot better than that one audio and music wise. Thanks for watching.
yo bruv for the millionth time what model of the ugly stick tiger are u using?

yes got ur message just figured it out last night which rid u had lol buying one on Amazon
is it way to stiff to cast lures as well ?
I would say it is too short to cast lures. Unless you’re throwing big poppers or stick baits. On a kayak you generally want shorter rods so you can reach your rod tip (without putting your reel in the water) to sort out problems.
@@FlyingFish_TV thanks alot man next question would be in 6 foot 5 280 pounds what kayak should I get I will be fishing in st Lucia Caribbean

Can i ask you about your shoes. When you launch the yak. Your feet get wet. So do you put these shoes on later after you dry them with a clothe?
This is awesome. We are coming to Hawaii in January. I hope we get to go fishing.
Take advantage of it.
Well done on that Yellowfin Tuna! Nice sized tuna from a kayak. Awesome video. Keep 'em coming. Subscribed.
Definitely a great fight on light gear. This tuna didn’t really fight very hard compared to other ones I have caught more recently.

I notice that the water is always calm when you are fishing. Do you have magic or are you just lucky?
Got that bad boy on a pen fierce 2 with what looks like a ugly stick tiger
Yes. Still using ugly stik tiger jigging rods, but I’ve got spinfisher 6 reels now.
The moment you first see that it was a Yellowfin was priceless! Gorgeous fish; one hell of a fight! Awesome video and awesome job!
Thanks man. I’m not a super dramatic guy and that was pure excitement after months of dreaming of catching a big yellowfin.

Awesome yellow fin!
I used this in our local pond and pulled in 2 trout and a bass in 2 hours!
Nice catch! Is that an 7' ugly stick with a Penn Fierce II 6000 reel?
Thanks man! It is a ugly stick tiger light 6'6" med heavy jigging rod, with a Penn fierce live liner 6000 reel.
Can you make a video how did you build your live well.thank you .great video.
That's a lot of tuna! What is a fish like that worth at the market?
Redfish Incorporated anywhere from about $120-300 as is depending on quality. if good quality and filleted, $20 a pound
What test pound of braid do you use and leader ?
What is that stark red circle on the tuna's underside?
Cookie cutter shark took a bite out of him. Also called a cigar shark
No wonder the fish was a scrappah.. its from the West side lol. Nice catch ma baddah
Amazing
nice catch pro 😍👌🏾
Do you catch your own baitfish or do you have a local supplier? I live in Kapolei and I've never been able to catch baitfish like that.
Lol, nevermind! I watched the last two minutes and you answered my question.
Now this is when fishing turns in to a sport. Loads more of effort than a 100m sprint
