  • As mountain bikers we all want to be able to do cool tricks and stunts to add some style to our riding. Jibbing, BMX tricks and street riding on MTB’s has become increasingly popular, so Doddy has some great maintenance hacks to show you how to set up your bike for barspins and fakies.
    Subscribe: gmbn.tech/subscribetogmbntech
    The GMBN Shop: gmbn.tech/f9
    Doddy set up Chris Smith’s Nukeproof Mega with an extra long brake hose and a hollow star nut so that he can do a barspin with tangling his brake hose or damaging the bike. He also installed a cheap freecoaster hack using cassette spacers so that Chris can fakie without having to backpedal. Chris is a master at freeriding and performing incredible tricks on his mountain bike, and was the person who taught Doddy how to fakie.
    What changes have you made to your mountain bike so that you can jib? Let us know in the comments below

      Drill the nut and cap works. Drill the the cap at an angle. Shocked you got no upvote, but sponsors.....
      Sam Pilgrim is a good rider, but he is just another bought and paid for puppet. How many times have you heard him say? "I won't mention those because they are not from my sponsored brands"
      That bugs me so hard.

      @Leo Herran Some of these guys say it how it is. They just put the focus on the money. How he does it, is refusal to mention at all which is pure greed. Haibike is one of his sponsors for example, yet he fails to mention certain parts because it's not his brand. I lost all respect for him at that point. All that talk he about stirring the pot only to run from it.

    What size spacers do I need for the cassette to do the freecoast?

  • @choose6174

    I leave the top cap on and screw in the bolt so that it is the right depth. Then I tap in the star nut and the top cap stops on the stem and it makes sure it goes in straight.

    Which spacers exactly do you use? Does the small cog, 11t, still end up in the right positipn and could be used? Is the freecoaster gap too narrow to not catch the chain accidentially, when only one cog is removed?
    ???

    • @eternaloptimist2840
      @eternaloptimist2840 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd have ground the teeth off a sprocket, that way there's no change in the spacing. Also the sprocket might guide the chain better than just dropping it in a gap, and make it easier to shift to the adjacent sprocket.

    #GMBNTECH / Doddy which cassette is 12 speed / XD and has separate sprockets? Or did you just change the freehub to an HG kind, and threw on some 11 speed sprockets?

    • @mattgies
      @mattgies 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I found that confusing too. He says he replaced 2 of the sprockets with the spacers, and in the closeup of installation I counted 10 sprockets, which would mean there were originally 12 sprockets.

    • @bjorne46

    will the barspin mod void warranty?

    • @gaveltron
      @gaveltron 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Any modifications to a component usually voids a warranty and since he has to modify the star crown nut thingy to route the front brake, i would give a solid yes, yes it would. Mostly on the fork, perhaps front brake, maybe shifters dropper post etc depending on what break on them.

    • @donattolj9370
      @donattolj9370 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you really want to just fuck around on the street,you should probably just buy bmx,you can find really good ones for 300$ and they are made to take abuse,you can throw it around and crash it all you want. Also much easier to manual/bunny hop etc.
