Thank You so much for the video . My Daughter and Son in Law were having trouble with their shower . I grabbed my phone and came across your video . She said your a life saver and saved them so much money in not having to call a plumber . Keep the great videos coming .
@hardluckcharlie My 1950's middle knob for the bath water and shower water just keeps turning and no water will come out for the tub or the shower. Any suggestions? Do you have a video for this problem?
Thank you so much! We kept replacing the tub spout when the shower stopped working thinking that it was the gate. It would only work for a time and then the shower would stop working again.so I tried your fix it and it worked! Also our water pressure improved quite a bit. I plan on doing it again next week using vinegar instead. Hoping we get the water pressure we had 5 yrs ago. Really thank you for the help.
Great video thanks so much. For a minute I thought I was going crazy. I was like no water is coming out but I can hear the valve. So happy I came across this video.
I installed a new showerhead and it stopped working after a week or so. I changed it back but it still doesn't work. I'll try this. I think the filter just blocked the calcium instead of it going through the filter
I want to do this but I'm wondering if you have copper pipes and of course on the label CLR says not to use on copper pipes. I'm wondering what you think?
I have copper pipes running up to the valves but a steel riser to the shower head. So the CLR never goes past the valves into the copper pipes. Good question though, thank you.
I hope it works for you. Yes it is a lot of work but my shower faucet has not clogged with calcium for over a year now. Thank you and good luck. Let me know how it works out!
I did not turn off my main valve in the house. Just make sure the tub/shower valve is off. Also see the video description for more information. Thank you!
This is a shower valve and soon as it is opened up the CLR/water mix is forced out in only one direction. I'm not an odds maker, but I'd say there is very little chance if you flush it out for several minutes. Thank you for writing!
@@hardluckcharlie I just fixed it I needed a new bathtub nozzle because my shower diverter wasn’t work and now that I installed a new tub nozzle I have water to my shower head since that diverter is working properly so thank you
Yes. It may work just as well. It's safer. Certainly worth a try. You may have to let it soak a little longer. I did the CLR for about 4 hours. Also, it would be good to mix some baking soda and water to pour in before using to neutralize the CLR acid. Thank you for watching and commenting.
My shower has a hot water handle on left, a shower handle in the middle and a cold water handle on the right it is old school, can I just remove shower head and turn neck upside down and pour CLR down it and let it soak without taking shower handle apart ? I'm not getting any water up to shower head at all but I can hear the valve making like an air noise any help would be greatly appreciated, this shower probably hasn't been used in a year
I've replaced everything and it's only made it worse! lol Getting CLR and the cap tomorrow and crossing everything! Worse case is that it works and I have all new innarrds :D
@@hopecritical-ops5554 The CLR did the trick! I used a hand pump garden sprayer and inserted the nozzle into the throat pipe and let it sit for a few hours. I have better pressure than ever before :)
This tub is nearly 60 years old, and has been subjected to a LOT. The porcelain enamel is etched and stained from very hard water, and years of scrubbing with abrasive cleaners. It is scheduled to be re-enameled this summer. And yes I intend to make a video of it. Thank you.

Thank you so much hardluckcharlie! It worked and saved me so much time and money. I used white vinegar only.
Brenda Mueller how many hours?
Did it work?
Best video I have found. I'll let you know if it works for me. Thank you
I same the same issue, hope this method works for me.

I have a stand up shower only, how did you twist the shower spout upward to pour in the CLR?
Pipe wrench. Thank you!
Thanks so much! This was so helpful. Thanks à million. You R awesome!
Hey i want to thank you for your video!, Simple and truthful so tomorrow i'll be performing that same fix to my costumer.. thanks a lot!.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I'm going to do mine right now had the problem for four months now
Did it work?
Where do we get cap for bottom pipe after you remove tub fixture?
Ace Hardware. Or any hardware store.
We have no water supply here in Grahamstown
Nothing ever works this good. Not for me, anyway. Surprisingly, worked this good! Geez.
Glad it was a help. Thanks for commenting too!
Do I need to turn off the water supply to my house, before I add the CLR
I did not turn off my main valve in the house. Just make sure the tub/shower valve is off. Also see the video description for more information. Thank you!
But what if it does this with a new bath faucet? Very lil water coming out with a new faucet :(
I have CLR! I sure hope this works. I don't have an end cap.
Does this work with a standup shower? Like no bathtub spout, just shower
I'd try it, but I'm not promising anything. Be careful with the chemicals.
How did you spin upside down the shower?
Where you get the cap from?
Hardware store. 1/2".
Mine doesn't even have any water coming out of any of the faucets but toilet and bathroom sink works fine
My faucet handles and water spout are all one piece. What do I do in that situation?
Same process, just one valve. Also, if the problem persists check your tank for sediment. Thanks for asking.
@@hardluckcharlie I figured out the problem. Faucet handles just had to be tightened. Problem solved. Thanks for replying.
No water but yet we see water running down
Any chance of the CLR contaminating the drinking water/pipes?
This is a shower valve and soon as it is opened up the CLR/water mix is forced out in only one direction. I'm not an odds maker, but I'd say there is very little chance if you flush it out for several minutes. Thank you for writing!
What did you filling from the top?
CLR. You can also use vinegar. Thanks for watching.
Can I do this same process if I have a strong water flow from my bathtub nozzle but no water flow from my shower head?
If you are getting water to your shower head, just clean the head. If it's not coming up the pipe, I'd give it a try.
@@hardluckcharlie I just fixed it I needed a new bathtub nozzle because my shower diverter wasn’t work and now that I installed a new tub nozzle I have water to my shower head since that diverter is working properly so thank you
very useful hlc ; would white vinegar work, instead of chemical descaling ?

How did you get the shower head to turn upside-down?? Mine won't budge
This worked!!! Thank you!!
Glad it helped!
Thanks so much, I think you answered my questions!
Glad if I was any help. Take care.

Yes. That is basically what I did. Also, I found my water tank was filled with sediment. Check that as a reason the valves are clogging. Thank you!
Genius
That might be a stretch. But thank you just the same. Take care!
Do you have to shotdown the water?
No.
I've replaced everything and it's only made it worse! lol Getting CLR and the cap tomorrow and crossing everything! Worse case is that it works and I have all new innarrds :D
Do you remember if it worked or not?
@@hopecritical-ops5554 The CLR did the trick! I used a hand pump garden sprayer and inserted the nozzle into the throat pipe and let it sit for a few hours. I have better pressure than ever before :)
That is great news. BTW, check your tank for sediment build-up. That was the cause of my continuous clogging.
Clean up the tub maybe

@@hardluckcharlie u think it’s the cartridge? Bc the handle is very lose it’s a push and pull one
Cap it with what🤦♂️??? Couldn't understand anything at the point of the video
A 1/2" pipe cap. I'll have to see what is wrong with the audio. Thank you.
you need to do instruction video on how to clean a shower, damn that shower look gross.
