    One of my favorite quotes is,”If a child cannot learn in the way that we teach, we must teach in a way that a child can learn.”

    As a homeschooling momma on her sixth year with five little girls the best thing you said is if you are at a point where it is stressful or frustrating do something else. Best advice ever!

    I love that you are doing more homeschooling videos. As a homeschool mama of 3 they really help me remember to relax and not get so overwhelmed.

    So true about children going their own way. I have 3, and each one is so different from the other. Each took to school differently and yet, each are forging their path and are working towards their goals. Life with children is certainly an adventure! Blessings to you and your family!

    Good morning. Life is full of learning. Doing the deck had so many many opportunities to learn. It helps everyone, adults as well see practical uses for math fractions, reading directions to mix cement, how to use different tools etc.. You have a fantastic day and I will see ya tomorrow

    I loved everything about this video! The fun, the education, the tips, the transition to the reading, the reading itself! Going though stuff in my life but you always brighten my day. I'd love to homeschool my way, having to school at home doing it the schools way how & when they say it's frustrating...

    My children have been begging me to unschool them for over a year. Amy you make it seem so doable. I don't know why it terrifies me. They LOVE learning new things on their own and then share with the family as they improve their skill or success. *sigh* I know I just need to do this. Thank you for sharing!

    Thank you so much for this very helpful video about different ways of teaching and more importantly learning. As a child I did not like learning at all. Going to school and trying to learn stressed me out but as an adult I try to learn something new everyday. I can’t get enough of it. Thank you Amy. God bless you and your family. 🌺

    This is awesome. Thanks for sharing. My kids did not like individual reading due to some learning disabilities but they love being read to. I read to them everyday even in the summer. I have noticed by not pushing it that they have started reading more and more on their own. You are right on point with the unschooling.

    I've been watching your videos thanks for the motivation because I have three illnesses and a spinal injury and I still work full time so I don't always have energy to do stuff. But you give me the motivation to do it I just went through some closets and like Christmas stuff and thanks for the motivation to do it. I didn't realize how much you can get done in like 30 minutes. I am tired now. but I just need to do a little bit here and there and then I'll make myself feel better about my house

    I have downloaded 3 books on unschooling:
    The Brave Learner by Julie Bogart
    Free to Learn by Peter Gray
    Unschooling to University by Judy Arnall
    The great thing about electronic books is searchability to see what is there and what is not. Of course I searched for science fiction. Only Free to Learn made any mention of it. One of the students admitted that he was obsessed with it as a kid. He became a mathematics professor at a major university according to the book.
    What I searched for and did not find in any of the books were Project Gutenberg and Librivox. These are free sources of material that all kinds of home schoolers should be aware of. Librivox creates audiobooks from public domain material while Project Gutenberg provides them as text in various formats. Since the oldest of these unschooling books is from 2013 and I have used Project Gutenberg since 2008 or 9 this almost amounts to criminal negligence. LOL
    There are 5 versions of Black Beauty in Librivox. The quality of the readings in their library varies. Most that I have tried are acceptable to good though a couple were too bad for me to tolerate. Your kids might like the dramatized version of Black Beauty which uses multiple readers for different characters. There is usually only one reader per audiobook.

    We didn't have all the button's even had to get up to turn the TV off I was never much for TV as a kid and don't own 1 today. My mother was kinda strick but very loving and didn't let us sit in front of a TV to much and the summers we went to Bible camp it was great time.👍😊♥️

  • @Grammapamm
    @Grammapamm 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What you presented in this video is useful for anyone even without children.We have 24 hours in a day minus sleep in which to incorporate learning.With YT videos there is much that Parents can learn themselves & then teach children-ballet,square dancing,country two-step for example. Even 1 parent could learn ballet-Greg could practice it at his shop unwatched! (Or secretly recorded-that would be a hoot!) Cooking is a great time to teach fractions while measuring,building a deck is a great time to educate more on using a tape measure & more fractions. With red,yellow & blue paint a child can make a color wheel & make orange,green,purple & brown. A child can learn counting with pebbles, cheerios or seashells at a beach.Incorperating tactile learning helps solidify concepts as more senses are being used, like the Bible says faith comes by " hearing", probably because at one time only men learned to read so they saw & heard but women only heard.

    Is there anyone on here that hates morning for homeschooling? I feel rushed, ID rather get ready for the day, clean my home, run errands, and have my children nicely dressed for the day too and as dinner is cooking I like to finally sit and start our school work. Anyone the same or just me?

    How does it work for homeschooling kids when they have the state testing ? I live in upstate NY and we have mandatory state tests I don’t home school but I’m thinking about homeschooling.

    • @amymaryon
      @amymaryon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Check as to what they require..do they require that your student passes ? Do you admin the test? Which test can you use? We have state testing but we keep the tests ourselves..don't have to submit them .
