AFUL Cantor is quite interesting. Unique signature that showcases top-tier resolution and clarity for a good price point. I love the Cantor, it's been in my daily commute bag since the release.
I hope you get your hands on the Aful P5 +2. You're not a fan of the Cantor, and you were extremely critical of the P8. Respect your opinions, hoping the P5 +2 impresses you. For me, Aful is among the most intriguing companies right now, trailing only Thieaudio at present.
Yes, I will have P5+2 soon. I'd say the same as I said, Aful relies more on their tech marketing points and Thieaudio focuses on tuning and drivers. You see Ziigaat going down the same path, American Knowles, Sonion drivers and not venturing far on the tuning.
@@PaulWasabiinot so agreed with you Paul , you get what you pay for, l owned Zenns Top , SLT6, Pilgrim, all of them are not as good as the Explorer better in separation, Performer 8 better in Subbass and Texture, Simgot EW300 superb valve, if nitpicking wishing better separation but for the price you can't ask for more , Kefine Delci another superb set , if nitpicking only wishing the vocal has more weight and texture but for this price, you can't ask for more. My advice are stop using stock cable, try NICEHCK CABLE $50-$100 range can do a really good job. Your beloved IEMs deserve better 🎉🎉...................
Really appreciate you providing a fresh take on this one. I wasn't thrilled with P5 or P8 tunings, so at a kilobuck cantor is a "bridge too far" for me. P7 (5+2) may be more my taste!
Depends on what you prefer, Estrella can sound more resolving as it has a higher level of extension. You can hear more. If you prefer a more natural level of extension, that is Dusk.
I still think Variations rules the price point and below. You can hate on the midbass, but the treble, techs, and drivers are tops. Above that, I thought the UM Mests are up there. Maybe a bit super natural in what you can hear, but an OG Mest is a crazy set. Cheap techs, get a planar, S12 Pro/2024 or if you have a high treble tolerance, the Moondrop Stellaris. Each of those is slightly different but Variations and Mest are memorable as not really hearing any set below their price points that came close.
I will say it was more difficult that it should have been. I think deep fit needs to have a big payoff, I am going to be slightly uncomfortable to hear something special. To just get around bass leakage or shallow fit brightness is not really the payoff.
As an audiophile enthusiast, you can't tested them with stock cable , even a $50+ cable can improve all frequency in a good way. I'm not a fan of your review, too much unnecessary negative nitpicking , there is no IEM sets are perfect, if you are everything on the negative side , your life is not going to be happy at all Paul Thank You.
For 800$, and you still have to do some finagling just to find the "Goldilocks" insertion depth for your ears. Whatever happened to just "plug and play"? ...but the shell design is quite nice though.

Id always choose musical over technical..thanks for the review.
Exactly why I said that, people ask about techs and details all the time, but not as many are willing to prioritize them over musicality.
Very interesting iem

Look forward to the review. I think the community is excited about this set and your review.
Paul has too much negative energy, can't help 😢😢........

Thanks for the different take on this. Im more interested in the P5+2. Its more in my budget.
You and probably everyone else. Cantor is cool, but probably not going to be as generally appealing as P5+2. I'll find out soon.
@@PaulWasabii Looking forward to it 😁

You are kinda in the same boat as me, if you have tried other Aful sets, not sure they are your thing.
I'm getting the Cantor to replace my old um mest mk1 will the Cantor provide similar surround like soundfield?
Nah, not many sets are close to MEST imo. Cantor is quite tame in the treble compared to MEST so not that big soundfield of MEST.
Did you use the stock tips? Yo need to do a slight mod for aftermarket tips.
Both. And no one wants to deal with that at $800
@@PaulWasabii lol true, I’m good with my hype 4 and mangird tea 2.
Which one is more technical dusk or estrella?
Depends on what you prefer, Estrella can sound more resolving as it has a higher level of extension. You can hear more. If you prefer a more natural level of extension, that is Dusk.
You said it isn't among your preferred tech sets, care to mention some of your tech inclined sets regardless of price?

interesting, it wants a deeper fit but doesnt have ear gain to compensate

jesus i thought the oracle was large but that thing wants rearange your ear...
You are correct
For some reason I found it hilarious that you pronounce it as "eyful". I say it as "awful".
I have tried to avoid calling them awful but it would 10x easier to say
阿福 in Chinese translation pronounce ah-fooo precisely.
Good review. Yeah strange shape. Not sure what aful are thinking here. As a basshead their sets don’t interest me. Maybe one day they’ll make a beast
I think Explorer is as close as they came to that but I think the bass level is normal, less treble maybe.

Sorry, I think you should re-watch that. A couple millimeters on fit will obliterate any improvements on your $50 cable or my Effect Audios.

Yes, I agree. And I know why they did it but as I said, a millimeter or so in the wrong direction and you are changing the intended tuning.
@@PaulWasabii another one of those IEM's that just makes you go, "What were they thinking when they were doing R&D?
...do did they do a proper R&D?"
