Well done Greg; you're right, it's about reducing food (calory) intake. Whilst exercise is good for you, it's not the overarching way to lose weight. I'm 74 and have lost about 16 pounds in the last 3 months by reducing my intake of useless calories (mainly boiled sweets in the evening). I'm 5'11" and now weigh 13 stones. I hope to lose another half stone if I can!
Hi Johan! The simplest thing I tried ,that really worked, is skipping breakfast. Nowadays they call it intermittent fasting. It sounds cool, but it’s just skipping a meal. I think skipping dinner would be even better, but that I cannot do, because I (don’t) have breakfast all alone, while everyone at home is asleep, while dinner is a moment for the family, so not nice to skip!
@@WUDN-WatchUDontNeed That makes sense man. Thanks for the tips! I have no problem packing on muscle but losing weight is rough haha! Yeah I understand your situation. You have to do what you have to do. Take care man!
Hi Greg, nice to hear your systematic approach has got you a results you were after. Wanted to say thanks to you for popularizing atomic time keeping and your hints which have helped me to sync Casio watch on a border of reception area. I've put a watch on a metal thermos and left in a windowsill in a sleeping room where there's no other electrical appliance like TV or Wifi router and that definitely helped. Seems that weather also has no big impact, watch synced even in overcast and drizzling weather.
I really identify with you! As a chubby-until-I-was-15 guy, I think losing weight without the help of anyone (it was the ‘90s, the word “influencer” was not even in the dictionary), with just my own will power, was one of the most motivating things I did, and had an effect on how I approached all my life. I simply saw that I just could say “no” to that pack of chips, and I could eat one biscuit instead of ten, and I could just get on the floor and do one push-up (which eventually turned to many). This made me realize that I just needed to practice, instead of watching TV, in order to get better at playing my instrument (which led to diplomas that I could hang on the wall) or just study more to get better at languages, which led to a teaching job, that I love. Now I feel I can pat myself On the back and buy that other Casio that I don’t really need, because I’ve been a good boy. And anyway, Mr. Anderson will always own more Casios than I do😂 so that’s a good excuse! Thanks for this video!
According to the Body Mass Index or BMI tables, I still need to drop another 25 pounds in order to be "healthy". Frankly, when I see photos of how thin I was during college I think I looked unhealthy. So, we'll see. I think it's also important to me that I'm monitoring my weight very frequently (at least twice each day). That helps me maintain my motivation since I'm seeing the results I want to see. Maybe if I kept weighing myself and I was NOT making progress then my motivation would suffer. I don't know.
Ha ha ha. I watched this after eating three bowls of cereal because it's late and I don't want to go to bed feeling a little hungry. Great simple information. Thanks.
I don’t know how old you are but when I was in college that would not have been a problem. Today I just can’t behave that way anymore. I still recommend a normal glass of cool water instead. Have a good night.
Yes, food makes all the difference. I used to exercise with my dog for 2-3 hours daily, but I kept gaining weight because I ate toast. When I stopped eating white bread, my wardrobe had to be completely renewed!
I have some clothes which have been hanging in the back of the closet for the last 4 or 5 years and NOW I'm getting them back out again. So there's no need to buy new clothes yet. But, from now on, I would like to replace clothes because they're worn out and not because I've grown out of them.
Good to see this. That's good weight loss. I have studied this subject, and what works for me, was getting rid of the meat, dairy, and processed foods. You can actually eat a lot if your easting foods of lower caloric density. I would recommend the Physicians Committee channel, whose host weight 420 lbs. and now is around 170 and eats MORE than before. He kept it off: www.youtube.com/@PhysiciansCommittee/videos
I know he looks different but his voice is the same. I am happy he found this simple strategy to lose weight. The trick is finding where the leveling off of food intake he has to maintain. I don't want him to disappear! I love his presentations on You Tube.
Thanks for the advice Greg. I am very much like you , 6 foot tall since high school , thin as a rail all through grade school as well as high school and about 10 years after high school. I walk 3 miles a day Monday to Friday , but I need to watch my intake and do everything you said in this video. Back in the day I could eat anything I wanted and never gain weight , times have changed these days.
It's not how much you eat, it's what you eat. I eat whenever I want, I weigh the same as I did in high school and next spring I'll be 80. I also walk one to two miles a day. My blood tests are that of a 30 year old and I have energy all day long. The last physical exam I had the doctor told me I'm in the 1% of healthiest people he's ever seen. Diets don't work, lifestyle changes work. Nutrition is a complex subject, health is three legged stool. It's nutrition, physical health and mental health, take away one leg and the stool falls down.
Two other comments. First, weight loss is mostly about food intake. Exercise won't help much. For example, the average person burns around 100 calories per mile when running. A pound is 3500 calories. You would have to run 35 miles to burn one pound - and think about how hungry you would be. Second, diets don't work. It's a lifestyle change. A fad diet will burn out and you'll gain it back. This stuff isn't about how much you lose, it's about how much you keep off.
Great video, we all need to find our own strategies to avoid all the ultra-processed foods and sedentary life styles. For me personally it's low carb and time restricted eating. Anyhow I have a Casio question for you, I have an AQS800w tough solar analog/digital world time watch that I recently purchased used. It's a fantastic watch but seems to lose calibration by a notch once and a while, is there a way to fully reset the watch or do I just have to adjust as needed?
On page 42-43 of your watch’s manual it tells how to adjust the hands. Here’s hoping it will behave itself and not go out of adjustment often. Here’s a link to the manual in PDF format. www.casio.com/content/dam/casio/global/support/manuals/watches/pdf/52/5208/qw5208_EN.pdf
We came out of the pandemic either a hunk, a monk, a chunk or a drunk.😂

you look good, Greg
Thanks. I needed to make this adjustment.
Now that I am getting older its certainly tougher losing those pesky pounds. Thanks for sharing Greg!

Thank you for this video. I also lost 11 kg in the last 4 months, so I understand the journey. Please do more videos about the subject in the future.

I forgot to mention one thing which might be obvious: I am NOT using any trendy, Hollywood weight loss pills or injections or whatever that stuff is.

Greg , did you need to adjust your watch bracelets after your recent weight lose?
Wait, wait…eating a lot causes weight gain?
Nice advice, but who are you? Why are you on Greg's channel?
I know, right? The guy in this video is only wearing one watch! What's the deal?
