What I enjoy most about your videos is the thought and precision you apply to each move, each choice, and each cut. You explain every step of the way and that is so helpful in understanding how to get the best result from your effort. I know where to go when I get frustrated with a project...it's to your channel to see if you've done anything like what I'm working on. Most often I learn to be more calm, more patient, and more thoughtful. You've helped me more than a shrink.
Everytime when this tree gets a maintenance work done, at end it looks too good. Very similarto the tree pics you shown in part1. One of my favorite trees this is, from your bonsai garden
I like the pads. It's crazy you have been developing them since 2016. Oh how the years go by. Even though it might look a bit bare now, in a few weeks it will look amazing. Last year it looked so good after the refinement. The dappled light through the canopy onto the trunk made the tree look so old and mature. Before the dome was too thick with branches and leaves that it shaded the trunk too much. Can't wait to see the tree again when it starts to fill up with leaves.
it looks like a old tree now, I'm observing its progress from since 2015, It's always attractive, Your landscape experiment with it was also so beautiful. Waiting for the new look in new customized pot.
This pruning and shaping is inspirational (to me anyway lol)... I've always gone for a brush-style with my Serissa trees... and I now realise that I'm lazy and stuck in a habit... but you have freed me from that now! I love what you did here, and the Acacia look of it... brilliant... thank you for sharing this and inspiring a lazy git like me! 😁👍
Enjoyed your video for today. That Serissa is sure looking GREAT! I was waiting for you to put a giraffe statue beneath the canopy. Can't wait to see the new pot that you have made for it.
Love hearing your stepwise approach and your thought process. I hope some day my trees are at this point in the refinement process! Can’t wait to see the follow up on this one!
Hello Nigel, great video as always! Love to see the progress of your trees, I've learned a lot from you! I'd like to ask a question about repotting an older bougainvillea, I can't really find information about it, and I know you have an amazing bougainvillea, so I'd like to ask it here if you don't mind :) I hard pruned the trunk back to about the 1/3rd of the original size (now it's ~40cm tall) around the end of April and the tree has grown in pretty well. Because this tree was kept large, I'd like to first put it into a deeper rootmaker pot that's around half the size of the current one, and then transition to a bonsai pot later. The plan is to get a wider and a bit shallower pot than the new one later, but this is the biggest rootmaker I could find here. The question is, is it safe to repot the tree now in end of June (temperature is well above 15C at night and above 30C in the daytime - Hungary), and is it safe to do so into a pot that about half the size of the current one? I'll leave a picture here with the tree and the new pot: imgur.com/a/9RAiBUx Thank you in advance! David
I love this tree. I styled an ogre ear succulent based on this design. It worked really well. Personally, I wouldn't make this tree bigger. I think it's a perfect size now.
I bought the exact plant marker few weeks ago. I wrote the year of propagation and name of the trees. It's fun, Nigel. 🤗 By the way that tree is looking more awesome!
@@TheBonsaiZone My 10 cats keep on breaking flower pots and needless to say the branches get broken too. I bought hanging collar tag label too. Now you can imagine the situation! 😃 Just make sure your beautiful trees are safe or else we won't get to watch your videos. 🤗
Looks good. I think you will need 10% larger pot considering the thickness of trunk, also in video left side of tree branch is more thicker compare to right side, so in future you may try to go for more thicker pad on that side proportionate to branch sizes.
I would love to send you seeds of trees native to Bharat(India) but the shipping charges are wayy too high! I am still a student so can't tell my parents to pay for it. In the future I will definitely pay you a visit and get you a lot of seeds of trees.
Nigel, do you think it is possible to encourage aerial roots in a ficus microcarpa by placing a tray of water (that the roots cant reach) below the tree? The evaporation would increase humidity around the tree. I would like to see some aerial roots but don't want to risk my tree overheating in a greenhouse. It got up to 37°c last week and I can imagine that the temperature inside the oven is sufficient to reliably cook eggs.
Yes. this would help to raise the humidity around the tree, misting often is good also. I find that the air temperature needs to be high to hold enough humidity for aerial roots to form. I also keep the soil on the dry side in the greenhouse and then combined with misting and letting your tree grow, aerial roots form more easily. You could try placing the Ficus closer to the floor of the greenhouse to keep it cooler also.
Why instead of cutting lower branches you use wire to keep them up? i know you are usted to clip and grow method but wire is something you could use in theese cases.

I've followed the development of this Serissa over the years on TH-cam and it have became a wonderful, naturalistic looking bonsai! Good work Nigel!

Liked the outcome, so nicely done.. the zebra adds that perfect touch too

Beautiful Serissa bonsai after prune 👍👍😍
I love how this turned out , I think it's one of my favourite trees!
That tree is gorgeous! It definitely looks like a miniature version of the Acacia!
Thanks Marysol, it should like the wet weather we have coming this week!

Two very entertaining videos of the maintenance of a really beautiful serissa. Thanks for sharing. Greetings from Spain and until the next video👍😄
Certainly is looking good. I like the style of this tree.

Thanks Beth, glad you liked the end result!
For me one of your most beautiful bonsai. Well done.
A great prune/shaping for the tree. Informative and helps me in doing ours. 👍
You had less than 10k followers when I first found you, and this tree is my favourite of yours! It’s an amazing progression!
Thanks, and the journey has just started!
Looks brilliant! Looking forward to it maturing from here!
Amazing job with a fantastic little tree🤩🤩🤩
I love this tree Nigel! One of my favorites for sure! Lisa
Thanks Lisa, glad you liked the result!
That's a great idea for the tags. Very nice of Tom!
Tom's an awesome guy!!!
Nigel, it looks amazing. The tree looks older and more mature. I agree that it was a good choice!

Simply an impressive work, Nigel!
Thanks so much!!!
Nigel that little Serissa looks amazing!! I would love to own it.
Very much like an acacia 👌
Great job on the tree mate. Just goes to show clip and grow is a great natural way to develop a tree 😀😀
Thanks Sam, I can't wait to get it into the new pot. I think I can video the entire pot making process!
👌👌👌 Looks so beautiful...!!!
I love this tree. I have a Serissa that I hope to turn into something like this. Very early for mine.
Hello Sami, good to hear from you! They can be fast growers and I'm sure yours will do great!
Could you put a cloth under the tree to catch the cuttings?
How often should i prune my finished tree to maintain it
Great teaching, as always, in the Zone.

Its looking great after all that pruning n cleaning work
I really loved this tree before this work but I can see where you are going with this in the future.
Always amazed, enjoy this always, thanks
Looking good great work
Love this tree
It really looks like it came out of an African landscape. I think a miniature giraffe would look good under it.

Hi Nigel, do you feel the tree needs more taper on the trunk to follow the rules of bonsai?
Dude. Your hair cut matches the Serissa.
maybe try to use smaller pot it will look better i guess .youre doin awesome job keep it up
Why instead of cutting lower branches you use wire to keep them up? i know you are usted to clip and grow method but wire is something you could use in theese cases.
You know how people look like there dogs
Well you look like your bonsai :)
Almost foist!
Nice pads.
Elegant
As Merv used to say ...Radical.....
Thanks Michael!
Shape of the tree reminds me of Serengeti.
Thanks, that is the style I'm going for!
