    Hey, UnixGuy! Thanks for these tips here; they'll definitely come in handy. I am really considering a career in Cybersecurity and wanted to get your opinion on something!
    I plan on getting either a CS, Cybersecurity, or IT degree at the college I want to attend. The CS & IT degrees both have security concentrations. CS is ABET accredited and the Cybersecurity program is NSA CAE-CD accredited. Overall, which of the three do you think would serve me the best? Thanks!

    • @UnixGuy
      @UnixGuy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      this will depend on the quality if the university, but if you want to work in cybersecurity then the degree should be in cyber security (no reason to do IT or compute science)
      either way, you may still need to do certs with a focus on practical aspects:

      @@UnixGuy Thanks so much for the fast reply! The school I am planning on attending is most definitely a high-quality college. Cybersecurity is what I wanted to do the most (it's by far the most interesting of the three to me).

Did anyone ever consider that maybe, as information security professionals, having our personal data visible to the world probably isn’t the smartest idea?

      So that’s what you took away from the video? that you have to spend 3 x minutes of your life to create a linkedIn profile
      Don’t do it, you don’t have to do anything

      @@UnixGuy Of course, you’re right, I don’t have to do anything, but then, apparently, my family won’t eat if I don’t because it’s the only way to get a job now. Maybe I’m too old, but I miss the days when you could apply to a job, and your CV wouldn’t get eliminated by the AI filter because you were missing a few key phrases, or you wouldn’t be discarded because you don’t follow all the trendy professional social media sites. I’m not criticizing you. I think the information you provide in general is very valuable. I’m just sickened by the way the corporate world has changed. It’s not progress. It’s dehumanizing and unnecessary.

      @@user.netizen11 I’m not trying to attack you personally, but everything you wrote sounds so gross. This corporate networking thing is seriously destroying the human spirit. I don’t know a single person who actually enjoys LinkedIn or the necessity to self-promote, but everyone is forced to do it because most HR people will literally discard your application if you don’t have one.

    Hi I am a 19 year old just finished my A levels from Bangladesh. I am planning to go to either sydney or Melbourne in Australia for a bachelors degree in cybersecurity as an undergraduate and persue a career there as a cybersecurity analyst. Can you suggest me some good universities in Sydney and Melbourne for a bachelors degree in cybersecurity? Is it true that cybersecurity entry level jobs are hard to get and they pay less than most other tech field's entry level jobs?

    Strongly disagree with putting the word Aspiring in anything. If you have been using the technologies, have security specific certs, constantly learning, and conducting yourself well in the community, then I think you can call yourself a cybersecurity professional. It would only hurt you unless you are just weeks/months into your journey IMO.

    • @UnixGuy
      @UnixGuy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      yeah I hear you, I do advise people to put ‘cyber security professional’ , some are just not comfortable doing that
      to be honest I dont think one word will make or break a profile, people will still read the rest of the profile and figure out how much someone knows, doenst take long
