I had a different path not set in stone but i will definitely switch to this. I had started the Google course and stopped but i will definitely get back to it. I have a new baby with my Wife coming in January and my goal is to be out of the trucking industry and possibly/hopefully working remotely at home to better support my family not just financially but being there physically the majority of the day. Thanks UnixGuy🙏🏾
Make it happen! Best of luck!
@@UnixGuy will do! thanks again 🙏🏾
I’m in the same field of work! Same situation as far as looking for more home time. I’m thinking The same way will! Good luck to you👍🏻

Glad that I’m a small part of your journey, keep kicking goals!
Good to see you back 😊. Quality video as usual, so informative thanks Abed 👌🏼
My pleasure! More good stuff to come :)
I appreciate your videos brother. They have been an eye opener. I always wanted to do Cyber Security and your road maps have certainly opened my eyes that it can be done. I always assumed it was not reachable and needed years of experience. I am working on my learning as I am fascinated with the Cloud as well as security.
Enjoy the journey 👏🏻
Thank you so much Unix Guy, I'm about to finish my first Introduction certificate, I must do the GRC cert too .
best of luck!
@productofGodmercy what certificate are you planning to pursue ? I am in the same journey
It’s crazy you mentioned the local cybersecurity groups and conferences I just started researching these 2 days ago definitely going to join all in my city🙌🏾

I recall when you did a similar video to this last year and thanks to you a landed my first Cybersecurity jobs as a SOC Analyst. I think I mentioned the interview to you around February so the recruitment process was long but I'm finally where I wish I was a year ago now.
So happy to hear that my friend! onwards and upwards 👏🏻

This video is absolutely amazing, I’m pursuing my B.S. in cybersecurity and have been racking my brain on how to get great supplemental learning and experience and this video feels like it appeared just in time. Thank you!!!!
Glad it was helpful!
I appreciate the content and help for us people interested in this career!
Instead of wasting my time in college classes I could care less about like I’ve been doing the last year, I’ve enjoyed learning a lot from your content and insight. I already have the rest of my 2024 mapped out and am ready for the grind.
Once again, thank you!

Thank you for the video, was perfect timing. I just recently finished the google certification and have a 2 month break from uni so will follow this roadmap😃

how much time did it take for you to finish your google certification??
@@abdullahshahid4595 Hey man, took me about 5 months, but if your consistent and spend around 2hrs a day. Can probably get it done less than that
As someone who has roughly a decade of experience, this roadmap is incredible! Thank you for releasing this and potentially helping a lot of us get the true roadmap that we needed!
Good luck!
I was looking for some guidance like this and as usual, your video came. Hopefully by following these steps I will get my first cyber security job. 😊

Ironically, I am completing the Google Cert and was thinking about going the GRC route to get into the industry. Then develop more technical skills. Perfect timing and thank you for the video!
looks like you’re on the right track! keep it up 👏🏻
how much time did it take for you to complete the google cert??
I’m still working on it. I can only afford to put in the recommended 6 or so hours a week. I’ve probably done 8 hours total and I’m about 25% through the 2nd of 8 courses in the certificate
Just finished my Google Cybersecurity course this morning at work! Can't wait to get things together when my weekend starts and get things going!

Thank you for laying out this path. I started the Google certification and will go through each of these steps one by one. I’m doing Network + and Security + in tandem because I work for the government, and they love ticking boxes.

This video couldn't have landed better. I have the Google cert and Security+ and I'm working on CYSA. I will dive right into your plan; just watched this video three times and took notes. Thank you so much!
Best of luck!
Bro could you give your insta because i have some questions to you if you have knowledge about IT
Did you use other prep material for the Security+ exam? Or do you feel as though the google cert prepared you enough?
@@juanhall1437 I found that using additional resources alongside Google helped me build a solid foundation and gain a better understanding. I highly recommend Ian Niels' study guide and GCGA Darril Gibson's study guide. Both have been incredibly helpful in my learning journey!
how much time did it take for you to finish your google cert??
I'm grateful to live in the same timeline as unixguy.
I will follow every step mentioned in the video precisely. I will come back once I get my first job in cybersecurity. Stay tuned.
Can’t wait to hear about your success 👏🏻
Im gonna strictly follow this and will get back by end of this year .
you got this!
I have been watching your videos alongside Madhat's and the truth is that it took less than 8 months to land a job in CySec. Of course I was an IT professional, but I do believe your work really helped me, especially on difficult moments when no company responded back ❤ sharing is caring man, and you know it
well done and congrats on landing the job 🤝🏻
I just recently graduated from Diploma of Computer Programming. I will try to follow this path and update to you guys. Wish me luck

After my gradution in 2012, I always want to be in Cyber security, due to some personal reasons i am working as an Electrical Engineer, Now I am planning to switch my career into Cybersecurity, I searched alot for 6 months roadplan, But finally in 2024, I have only 6 months in my contract left to work as Electrical Engineer, I will follow this Roadmap for the next 6 months , but the Career change at real time experience is the matters for the next one year to learn and survive in this field. I hope you will guide me, please. Thanks for this video.

Hi, I am glad that i watched this video at the right time. I want to stick on to the plan and start working to see myself as a cybersecurity engineer in next six months. It would be a great help if you could organize the training and make it as a playlist. I Have gone through your other videos as well and i liked the way you present the detail. I am sure i will make it with your help. May i know how is the plan going to be in getting the videos on this series. Waiting eagerly.
I don’t undersrand your question. This plan is independent, just follow it as it is :)
I'm half way there and I will update after I land the job thank you
Good luck!
how much time did it take for you to complete the google certification??
Thank you.
I'm from korea, and we don't really have the best guidelines for learners here.
You're the best!
Happy to help!
I just completed my bachelor's degree in business administration with a MINOR in Cybersecurity last week. Honestly, I wish I would have made Cybersecurity my major.
I'm currently working on learning Linux, MySQL, and Python and about a quarter of the way through the Google cyber security certification. I work in a tech support role currently.
I appreciate this video. I'm gonna use this resume template to try to stand out as much as possible.
best of luck
I'm currently taking my comptia+ in a bootcamp. It a non profit organization . After 2 months i will be able to take the Cysa course. During that 2 months will study on my own to get the security plus.
that’s not the pathway that I recommend, but good luck either way :)
I got promoted from pharmacy tech to pharmacy IT coordinator. I’ve worked in the same hospital for 15 years. I was ready to leave after earning my security + but with the job market being not so great. I decided to get the experience in house. Thanks, I’ll keep watching.
Yep, gain experience and follow this roadmap
Hi Unix, thanks for your video it was so nice, the only thing that i saw is the cyber journey that you recommand is completely for defense not for attacker.
What about Penetration Tester Journey(or Red Team )? Thanks a lot again...
I have an entire video dedicated to that:

Thank you very much for this video and for sharing your knowledge. Unfortunately, I live in a country with a very bad economy, I can't afford to pay for courses... I'll try with free content anyway :D
ok good luck
Thanks for that. What about for the projects section on the cv with this path?
I showed you how to add one project there, so do the same thing when you do more training
Thank you, definitely needed to hear this, i finished the Google cybersecurity cert, thanks to you i have an idea on what to do next
Make it happen 👏🏻
how much time did it take for you to finish the google cert course??
Hello my friend finally I was approved by a government funded course Cyber security Bootcamp online class level 3 with guaranteed interview on completion and certification, starting on the 18th Tuesday next week,14 weeks length course every Tuesday 8 hours. I am planning to do during or after cyber security my Linux online course that I purchased already and I really like your GRC course as well Cloud security but it's a long way to get there I believe.
enjoy the journey!
I would love a video about getting your second cybersecurity job (which is where I am).
this same video applies! do more certs or do certs targetted at your goal specialisation :)
I'm afraid to use the word "aspiring". Thanks for the video!
don’t be! it’s a polite way to say that you are learning :)
@UnixGuy All right! Will do! Ty
i have the qualys , aready .. time to get tghe other ones .. this is so helpful . now i know what to do ..
if you have military experience also put it on the resume >?

I also send you a dm in discord my friend 🧡
I really enjoyed watching this video♥.You made it very informative and easy to understand. It's inspiring to see someone else succeeding through self-learning.
In fact, I've been on a similar path myself. I have a Google Cybersecurity Professional certificate, passed the ISC2 CC exam, and completed many Cisco networking courses related to Linux and network security. However, I haven't applied for jobs because many require a degree in any field. I chose to focus on self-learning instead of attending college. While I've learned a lot and obtained certifications, I sometimes doubt my decision not to pursue a formal degree.
💡💡What do you think? Am I on the right track, or should I consider other options?
Thanks for your time reading this🤗.
you need to follow the plan, dont stay tuck in beginner certs. Yes apply, not all jobs want degrees
I’m starting this today will update you in Dec 2024
👏🏻
i will try these methods and update in 6 months
give it your all!
well this is it ill see you guys in 6 months
you got this!
Finished my Google Cyber Security Course Yesterday , didn't have the money for the course so I applied for Financial Aid , Would love to do the GRC Mastery but i dont have the means are there any free alternatives? Also the Google Cyber Sec course is quite long i don't think its possible to finish in a month or two with no prior knowledge and not skipping easy to brute force though, Anyway amongst the brain rot on youtube its people like you that keeps youtube educational. Glad to see you post again.
Best of luck! unfortunately there are no free alternatives once you finish beginner stuff. you’re investing to eventually land a high paying career - we all had to save up at some point
best of luck my friend
@UnixGuy Thanks man. I'll save up somehow for something no doubt. Would be nice if there were free alternatives. I'll do Try hackMe and HTB in the meantime
@@jyeviolegrace2143 I have another video that's full of free resources but they're meant to be done as you save up not as an alternative.
I have experience of around 10years in operating system development. Can you please have an discussion / video for people like me who are looking at cybersecurity as an value add to existing skill. We are at stage where we can't go for fresher job opening but rather what skill we can build for lateral hire in cybersecurity . Would be thankful if you can discuss cybersecurity for people having 5-10 years of software development skill .
the recommendations in this video apply to you, you will need to do training courses from scratch. Your experience will help you learn faster and also may land you in a more senior role but you will still need to learn properlu
Thank you so much for this video. I wish to join your discord group, please let me know how to do so. thank you
there is a link to it in the description box under this video
Sir, Next Video on Cyber security Competition , where we can showcase our skills like codeforces ....
the place to showcase your work is the resume :)
This is a great video ,thank you for sharing. Till this moment i was so demotivated about hearing its too hard to land a job or its impossible for someone new . I just have one question/doubt that, whether will this path be essentially useful towards becoming cybersecurity analyst or ethical hacker at a later period. Do i need to do more certs after completing everything mentioned in this video so as to become cybersecurity analyst or penetration tester?
your priority, as explained in the video, is to get your foot in the door - you can specialise later
@@UnixGuy Thank you for clarifying my doubt. After watching your ,I've gathered alot of motivation as well as knowledge and I'm going to start with the Google Cert. 😊
@@KleoKleo19702 enjoy the journey!
Very educative video. Pls how do i get the virtual internship you talked about sir?

Just wanted to share that I started my journey on May 29th. I'll be sure to keep you updated on what I've been up to and what products I've been using along the way. Stay tuned for more updates! 🚀🚀
👏🏻
Thanks for the great video it really helped me a lot but I just had one question. Do you think that knowing a language like Java or python would be beneficial enough to get certified in it. I’m only a freshman in high school so I am still trying to plan my roadmap. Thanks.
you wont need certs in programming languages no
I remember you posted a video on free cybersecurity training. Should I follow that roadmap or this one your posted?
As I said at the end of the free training video, paid training is always better - Free training is meant to be used if you have no money at all so you can learn until you can afford paid proper training
I see how you suggest different website's for different things. I paid for a year subscription with HTB. How do you feel about their SOC analyst path? It doesn't seem too practical, but more theoretical. Also, I don't know if it is beginner friendly. Thank you in advance.
their SOC path is fantastic! if you want something easier you can follow the recommendations in this video
yes there is no one single website that will get you everything
I wish you could put an Arabic translation so I can understand the video. All appreciation and respect to you
Hi Nora,
there is an option to slow down the video on youtube if this helps!
If there is a part in the video that you couldn’t understand please ask me in the comment and I will help clarify it :)
Hi UnixGuy! Would you say that an IT Auditor job is a good precursor to working in cybersecurity?
Yes! IT Auditor is an excellent entry to GRC!
I cannot thank you enough for your videos. My background is product management (12 years) and lately i have been seeing lot of cybersecurity Business Analyst/Cybersecurity product manager roles.
Last year I completed Google certification and would like to enhance my skills further. Can i take this same roadmap to land a Cybersecurity Product Manager Role? Or I would have to go for GRC Mastery considering my non technical IT background.
Thanks again for your guidance.
hey mate,
GRC Mastery will give you the non-technical skills that you need for product manager / project manager / BA roles within the cyber space as it will give you the knowledge and confidence to manage technical stakeholders
with the google cert combined with GRC Mastery it should be enough for you because you already have product management experience :)
Thank you 🙏🏻
Would you still recommend the virtual internships if I already landed my first cyber role as a security analyst but my tasks consists of vulnerability management , risk assessment , TPRM , security awareness training , incident response , policies , firewall management , responding to alerts and a lot more
looks like you landed a generalist role! in that case you need to prioritise training courses over virtual internships
Sirrr plzzz I'm from India ur information is so useful to us but sir can u make a video on cloud security engineering, what is topics that we have to learn or study and best certificate free and free courses also
good thing I made that video last year 😆
th-cam.com/video/zFFMhpCLJi0/w-d-xo.html
Hello!! So i am following your path to ethical hacker from about 9 months ago. Has anything changed for that one or will you be releasing a video updated anytime soon?! Thanks for all your helpful videos!
Not really, nothing has changed! keep going 👏🏻
I’m a realtor making decent money only issues is we have 0 benefits.. I’ve done help desk in the past I’m going to looking into the Google cert
good luck!
Thanks for vid ! Would the GRC mastery help me if i wanted to get a soc anaylst role ?
Got sec+ , net+ and aws ccp
GRC Mastery will help you land a GRC job or a generalist job where GRC skills are required
if you want pure technical soc role the skip it :)
@@UnixGuy ok perfect what about with technical questions for interviews, where should i focus pls ? For soc analyst
@@setasonte6392 on rhe courses that I recommend. Know your stuff - i dont recommend memorising intetview questions
