You two are the best, Love how they're doing a combo so breakfast on Macmaster and dinner on Darren's channel, Superb! Always look forward to the next upload!
The liquer being eel juice is a thing of the past (although some might). Loads of pie and mash cater to veggies aswell so can't have eels or their juices. I make liquer all the time. Amazing. Gravy is for roast dinners.
Fond memories of Goddards and eating pie, mash and liquer sauce when i lived in Greenwich back in the early `90`s. It was only a small premises then compared to what it is now. Looking forward to visiting next time i visit London.
Oh I do love a plate of pie & mash...... and Goddards are just brilliant.... whenever I visit beautiful Greenwich I have to go in there. I would rate it 10 out of 10.
I worked for twenty one years at the NMMand the ORO. Every week I would callin for a double pie mash and liquor at Goddards, and even though retired I still get my pies from Jeff at Goddards.
Hi Darren, I'm a traditionalist and just couldn't have gravy on pie & mash, but if you fancy a change then why not. Incidentally they no longer make liquor with eel juice but you can ask them to give you some that you mix in. Which I do at Goddard's, Manze's and Arments. have also had eels, they are very good to eat.
Twenty years ago we went to London , Lewisham we had pie and mash but I can’t remember the name of the shop we were in..But yes delicious and I often have it now , but to be honest I think I like the pie mash and gravy just a little bit better.
Pie and mash looked great and plenty of gravy, we enjoy pie and mash up here in Geordieland and we also have pie and peas which is basically a pie smothered in peas, delicious and you should give it a go 😋
My local pie and mash shop. Totally agree with you both that it's excellent. Prices really reasonable considering how many tourists you get in Greenwich.
Nice. I've been to Goddard's once. It was good. And for the record I had gravy too. Plate was swimming in brown liquid! 😁Maybe go again soon... nice video.
Darran John I thought that London was so pricey but after seeing your videos maybe not as I was born in London but was only there for about a week before I moved to Cornwall love xxxx
how far of a walk is it from the uber boat pier? hubby has some moderate mobility issues, so wondering if this is walkable for him or if a taxi is the better way to go? friends from london have recommended a ride on the thames and goddards. will be there next week. thanks for the review~
Hi Darren I love your channel, you are a very inspirational person. Found your channel through Lee's channel and you are so very different in your presentations. This is a great thing and works well when you are both together too. I love your outlook on life, you seem very relaxed on screen and this makes your channel a great channel. Keep these great videos coming my friend as many people are loving them. Have a great day. All the best Mark.
Hey Darren spoon and a fork I use great video again you 2 lads are the best you tubers I have ever seen you bounce off each other every time ..... Food looked yummy enjoy 😊
Great videos when yous 2 are together, good double act,im binge watching, no point watching the mark wiens and food ranger,,ill never go to those places ,my kind off people great watch👍
Goddard’s is my favourite pie and mash. They were originally outside the market opposite the Spanish Galleon pub, next door to the noodle bar. I think it’s now a Gourmet burger kitchen. They had a second pie shop as well on Deptford high street. I used to live in Greenwich and probably ate there twice a week, loved it. The shop you filmed in was originally a pub. I’m going to have to visit Goddard’s again now. keep up the vlogs mate👍🏻
I used to drink there a lot on my way home from work up until it closed down. The pub name (The Cricketers). Wasn't really that busy towards the end as other pubs were much more appealing to others. It was reopened as a Fish n Chip shop around 2005. Then it was a wine bar or something, can't remember the name. Finally Goddard's opened it as a pie and mash shop. So it's not that old. Goddard's have been around for ages but that place is fairly new. I miss the pub 😂
i was there 2 weeks ago. They are all very friendly. The young lady asked me if i ever had Eel before (probably because of the bones). and she stopped me when i said : eel mash pie and gravy… she said : no no darling, you want liquor with Eel. 😂😂😋😂😂 i said , ok whatever you think best. anyway, very fluffy creamy mash, nice pie , and the ell, well one needs to get used to it 😂. But will absolutely eat there again next time i visit london.
Greetings from Australia; another goodie to add to my Great Pie Tour of GB. I love the photography and your choice of music in your vlogs. The other guy rabbits on a bit too much.
Food looks just amazing. Gravy was served nuclear hot. Appreciate the warning concerning “liquor” - I could’ve ordered that thinking it was some kind of ale-based (vs eel-based!) gravy.
I first got interested in pie and mash about 20 years ago. I've not tried Goddard's as it seemed vaguely "wrong" to me. Perhaps a bit of a tourist trap. Nevertheless I thought, "these two may know a thing or two about pie and mash, I'll check out the review". Fortunately the discussions about gravy and knives confirmed that I wouldn't be getting any answers here.
Pie and mash without liqear is actually a criminal offence in London penalty is you have to go up north to eat for at least a month 😀love you stuff boys 🇬🇧
Glad you are back together, loved your nods of approval , the gravy looked gorgeous, thick and tasty, great price too, showing some great places in London 👍❤️
Great vidéo as usual how do they make money at 5 pounds for pie and mash gravy wish we had places like that here in France even though french food is amazing still miss English traditionnel food stay safe mr john
Hiya Darren, always good to see Lee in your videos. He is so different in yours to his own. Enjoyable video. It looks like a lovely place to eat for a pie and mash shop. Loving the tunes. Good prices again for London. Pie, mash, and gravy looked good. Thank you for sharing. I am sure you have a great time when Lee visits. Have fun. Take care.
did manzes in tower bridge road 2 weeks ago. I'm, not a Londoner so did not appeal to me. but it is what it is. Apparently, they don't use eel juice in the liquor anymore as they don't sell enough jellied eels to have enough stock for the liquor ???? It great vid tho as always.
When are you & Macmaster gonna visit a Seafood stall for a proper Sea food cocktail? Fresh Pickled Herrings, Whelks, Mussels, and Shrimps. All covered in Thousand Island dressing and a few screws of black pepper.😋
Food looks fantastic Darren, good old pie and mash can't beat it. And gr8 to see you and the macmaster back looking forward to seeing the rest of the plogs from you and the macmaster. 👌👌👏👏

To be authentic it really should be pie, mash and liquor with chilli vinegar and pepper. Pie should be upside down and eaten with a fork and spoon and all washed down with sarsaparilla. Main thing is that you enjoy it though (and you certainly did). It looked great value for money and a great vlog.
Love you guys! But eel juice is just another name for fish stock! Some people don't like to eat fish & that's fine. But it's good nutritious food, and making stock from the bones & leftover bits is just being thrifty. Anyways, I enjoy watching you eat at different places around London. Thank you so much for all the fun & appetizing content!
Love your vlogs Darren as always You are the calm influence with The MacMaster but you make a great team together both gentlemen but good fun together Great vlog BTW fork & knife lol 👍👍xx

I make liquer all the time. Amazing. Gravy is for roast dinners.
Ate there on Monday. First time for pie mash an eels. Lived up to all my hopes and expectations. Bloody marvellous!
Had the Chilli minced beef pie with double mash & liquor when I went in there about 7 years ago, scrumptious! 😋👍
Sounds amazing Lawrence
Salivating here, looks lovely.
Great One Guys . See That Gravy ,,,,,,, It Would Go Right Through Me LOL

Hi guys looking good thanks for the vlogs
My daughter took me here when she lived in Greenwich
A walk through the park to see that panoramic view and then pie mash and liquor
I worked for twenty one years at the NMMand the ORO. Every week I would callin for a double pie mash and liquor at Goddards, and even though retired I still get my pies from Jeff at Goddards.
I did not know this pie and mash was here, we are going to give it a go, Love the sights of London you are showing us, great work and thank you.
Hope you enjoy Ray
Yay!!! Great to see you both back together. So looking forward to all your fab vlogs Darren. Have a fab fun two weeks. 🥰🌞🥰Xxx
Thanks so much! 😊
You should try Manze’s down Tower Bridge Road mate - my favourite pie and mash shop
Deptford high St used to have a Goddards on one side of the road and a Manze's bang opposite.
Beautiful location, beautiful weather, nothing to complain - shame about "breaking up is hard to do"
?? Breaking up?
that looks really tasty 👍 mmm nice 😊
So good Sam

You are probably right - I think I will leave the gravy to bangers & mash in future.
🙂👍
My local pie n mash uses eel juice in the liquor.
Love Goddards! Been there a few times, I too chickened out of eating the eels, my sister ate the stewed eels, the desserts are to die for!
Twenty years ago we went to London , Lewisham we had pie and mash but I can’t remember the name of the shop we were in..But yes delicious and I often have it now , but to be honest I think I like the pie mash and gravy just a little bit better.
My dad used to take me to godards in Defford in the early 80s were George godard used to serve the food with a roll up in his mouth grate days
been there....fantastic steak/kidney pie and liquor. Jellied eels were delicious. Couldnt be better!!
So good Fred
I remember once a few years ago I went to Greenwich and had pie & mash there, it was so scrumptious. Great vlogging yet again.
Thanks John
I love this place!

Just the one pie and DJ goes the gravy route.

Every city in the world charge higher prices - however, there are always places to find who have a reasonable priced menu 👍
