I have been trying to mentally prepare myself to do this and this is the video i needed. I knew that I would get to a point that I would cry, call for help and likely end up cutting my hair off again. This just let me know that I can see it through. Thank you
Sis! You are preaching my struggle BUT you have inspired the hell out of me. I'm 33 weeks pregnant, started my microlocs...Well technically last month. But I started them over this past weekend once I got an extra mirror because I just couldn't with my bathroom mirror alone. I am praying I get them finished before I deliver. Thank you for sharing! Feels nice to know I'm not in this alone and your hair looks beautiful! Best of luck on your pregnancy!
You did a wonderful job sis!!! OMG the ABSOLUTELY best DIY microlocs I’ve ever seen. PeriodT!! You did the grid and all. I just started mine in November and when I tell you I gave up on doing interlocs after a couple. So I did braidlocs. They are coming out beautifully. But yours are gorgeous.
Chile, thank you I found someone else on the internets that took longer than 2-3 weeks to accomplish their microlocks install. In 2018, I started my interlocking process on December 17th with hopes of finishing during Christmas break. I ain’t finish them thangs until January 19th of last year. Congratulations on your diy install, beautiful job! Though it requires dedication, there is so much (financial) freedom in doing your own hair, and doing things on your own schedule is nice.
Yes, I was looking at videos and like it’s not way you did that in two three days. I would have died. Thanks just very happy I am done and now I can enjoy them. Thanks for watching.
Hmmmmm, I started out with large locs, am totally nappy natural, screaming when I comb my hair. This is def a thought. Your video pops up all of the time and today I finally clicked. Thinking thinking thinking! OMG THE TAKE DONE LOVE LOVE LOVE
You did an amazing job sis!! This is exactly how it would go for me. It takes me about 3-4 days to do my own micros cause my arms get so tired. I can’t even imagine microlocs.....
You did that sis. Girl I commend you because I do not have the patience, but I also don't want to spend $1200 to get it done either. I can see myself quitting, feeling defeated and in tears too. Ugh! Decisions, Decisions. They're absolutely beautiful though.
The fact that u did these while pregnant and kept a thorough video diary of the process jus shows how professional and talented u truly are! (I remember taking 2 days to flat iron my hair😂 aint no way I can do these.)
I admired your determination girl, great job. What I do not like about some of sisterlocks consultants they are very mean and very self- centered, they do not assist another consultant. As a consultant, doing your DIY installations, why couldn't that person assist as a sisterlocks family cho. Girl if you were in my state I would assist in a heart beat cost free. !
I have been doing my own braiding in various styles of adding hair into my natural hair, for at least 10 years now. For the last five years, I’ve been ambivalent about doing Sister Locs, or Micro Locs. I’ve also pondered Micro Braids into Locs. My hair is fine and definitely can’t hold two strand twists from the root. I’ve gone for consultation and just totally consider doing it myself to avoid the high cost. Your video, @Penny Queen ,has totally inspired me. Your personality draws me in as well as your way of teaching. I see that you and another sister ( in comments)mentioning fenetti’s channel, which I’m going to check out and watch all the videos, as you say you did before I set out on that journey. At this point though I believe I am really ready. I have a break before I go back out on performances that I do, so I’ve got the time. Thank you for your inspiration and motivation. You are awesome, and your hair looks beyond awesome!!! #PennyQueen #microlocs #sistalocs #microbraids
OMG !!!! I LOVE YOUUUUU!!! THANK YOUUUU!!!! I KNEW I COULD DO IT MYSELF !!!! GOD BLESS YOU GIRL! YES...I laid the ground work for all of these kinds of videos 20 Years ago !!! YESSSSSS! You did an amazing job! Your hair is absolutely gorgeous! I’ve decided I want micro locs but I’m in nursing school right now. So I don’t have the time to complete them. I also decided I’m going to grow my hair out to at least 10 inches. That way when I put the micro locs in, I know I’ll have enough length to pull them up into a bun. Thanks for the inspiration!
Your hair is lovely, you are an inspiration to me, I want the sister locs soooo bad, I may have to do it myself, I will be following your hair journey, glad you shared.
Beautiful job mama! I did mine too when I was pregnant 13 yrs ago. I'm still loving them and have never looked back. I've been on team natural since 1996 and team locked natural since 07. I'm loving the ease of my locked natural hair better than when it was loose because my coils are various densities and porosities of tightly wound cork screws and the fight to elongate/ detangle/twist/style it and keeping them looking like I cared for it was real! I am now at peace and don't run from the rain anymore even if I have a twist out and I can rinse my hair daily in the summer like everybody else on planet earth and still keep it moving. 😊😥. Love my hair just busy and have other responsibilities and interests and don't wanna devote hours to working on it when I can spend a few minutes here and there weekly maintaining it.
Now its' the waiting process for it to really loc. It is no joke. I refused to do mine and I couldn't handle the grid. I had someone do mine and I had her put the brick layering way. I couldn't deal with having too many locs either. Folks would have to be all the way in your business to see the difference. It looks very nice. You did a great job.
Yesss Sister Queen! I'm yet installing My #microbraids as all of My #microtwists #twistlocs #finehairloc #interlocs unraveled so I had to convert all of them to microbraids! I began weeks ago lol indtalled My Beautiful Daughter Princessita #blexican waistline length hair in 9 nine hour days! You did an amazing job! I wanted volume and maximum fullness so I had hoped that micro twists it just unraveled! So I am well with My Beautiful Braid locs! My ends are lovely curls!!! Congratulations on a job well done!
Thanks a million, yes I feel like I had so many odds against me while doing them. But we will fight through things and come up with a plan to get what we want. I want volume as well that’s why I wanted to make sure I had a minimum of 450 because having fine hair I could easily just have about 300 and it will be done. Glad you and your daughter where able to complete them, let the freedom begin thanks for watching.
I have a strong curl pattern. It took my top 2 years to completely lock, and when I shampoo today some still unravel, but as a license stylist. I got this
I started mine November the 8th too finished December 21st coz I had to undo and redo the 1st 2 parts coz they were bigger, I have 545 was inspired by feneti and I interlocked
Yeah I watched all her videos before I started. I do not like it when you do all the work and have to go back. What day will you celebrate the 8th or the 21st.
Galaxy beautiful you did that thing and it took me about 30 days to do my own too and I did have trouble in the back because my hair is so fine but I did it congratulations to you and me too
Girl, you have a variety of methods going on. It turned out cute. The good thing we can follow your journey and see which method works best for loose wave pattern hair. I’m excited to see your journey.
I'm yet installing My #microbraids #microtwists #3pointrotation #grayafro started Sept 27, 2020 lol and will finish this week as I maintain My Daughter's 50 inches of #twistlocs I am thrilled with Your self installation! My third set came out so the twists in majority of My hair didn't work! They became #microsenegalesetwists and #microbraids majority of them are #microinterlocs 🧘🏾♀️ I have Everything lol! You did that Sister Queen!!!
Your hair is beautiful, I’ve been scheduling consultations with different micro loc stylist but I refuse to pay all of that money when I’m a braider and can do it myself. Your video is motivating me even more to know that braiding them can achieve the same look because I also have soft/fine hair and the twist may come out and interlocking is going to take forever. So my question is, should I braid them first and then interlock after the braiding?
Condos to you hun because you did a great job. There is no way I would have been able to do this myself. I am looking forward to seeing your journey. Congrats and welcome to the loc world!
girlI don’t have a channel but at least you telling the truth I have micro locs when people ask they think I have sister locks. it is a challenge time wise you told the truth as well because I am cosmetologist and it took me just as long
Beautiful Sisterlocks. I enjoyed the video. #newsubbie I also have Sisterlocks and I am documenting my journey on TH-cam.👍🏾 March 4, 2020 will be one year for me. I have never considered doing my own locs.
My hair is also really fine....loose curls. My bestfriend is gonna help me do mine. I'm so excited. I have had test locs by a consultant before...and I had serious slippage. So I'm wondering if twists...then interlocking...or interlocking the whole way would work
Now what do you do with your time? It took me 30 days the first time. When I finished I missed the process. Getting ready to do it again. Made it almost a year in March. Going for a new set :)
You don't know how those DIY sisters do it? Girl you are one of those sisters. Bravo, your locs are beautiful.
I’m so proud of you for doing this all yourself. That’s what a loc journey is about honestly. Look at you 👏 🎉
Chile I'm doing my own now. I WILL NOT BE DEFEATED! 😫
I have been trying to mentally prepare myself to do this and this is the video i needed. I knew that I would get to a point that I would cry, call for help and likely end up cutting my hair off again. This just let me know that I can see it through. Thank you
Yeah these really look great you did an amazing job and saved about at least $1000k 😂 👏🏾🙌🏾
I was quoted 1100.. and i think ima just pay that lol
Sam Butler really that’s a lot
You did a great job! I wish I could do my own!
Honey I paid $1200 here in California and I’m okay with that
