Everything she is saying is so true I had sister locks for 11 years and got tired of them 😂 cut them off it’s been two years and I’m going back to sister locks tomorrow it just fits my lifestyle lol thanks sis ! Locks are my baby
Installation 11/15 and 11/16 ! It was 12 hrs each day 24 hrs in total and I got micro sisterlocks. I love them sooo much. Just did my first wash and I honestly prefer my locs frizzy and messy.
You have micros? I love micros. They are so beautiful. Lucky you! I wish! lol. & that's a fact. I prefer my hair when it looks a little lived in. Not fresh, but not in need of a retie either. Right in between.
Got my sisterlocks back in October, I have fine hair, high density. My loctician took 22hrs in 2days, although we'd planned for 3days. I've gone back for my 4wk retightening. My natural curl pattern is more of a wave, so I have a 4 lock pattern. Overall I love my sisterlocks from the start and loving them more each day. I've been a stylist and instructor for many years so I am somewhat familiar but still learning. I thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge.

Yes ma’am. I’m going for a follow up just for her to check my hair & wash it & to show me how to wash it in the future. The visit will be very short 30-45 minutes. Then I’ll go back 4-6 weeks later. We will determine that at the follow up appointment.

15 hours. Originally scheduled for 2 days BUT we accomplished it in ONE DAY!!!! I was her 1st one day client ❤❤❤ (in ATL) 💪🏾😜 8in on top, 10-11 in back. You're tips were extremely helpful. THANKS SIS! Blessings to all
I cut my hair before my establishment because I knew I couldn’t sit for days, so it took 7 1/2 hours. Plus, the last weave I had thinned out my hair, so it was thin and very short.
What do I need to do when the person that did my sister locks has so much going on and I need my retightening done and she tells me that she made other plans and I need retightening done but we made the appointment before I left her place?
find a new consultant. If it was me, that's what I would do. "I made other plans" is an unprofessional way to say that you have to cancel an appointment or you are unavailable. I would find another consultant. 🤷🏾♀️
@@TheRealKylaB I'm in high school and my mom talked to me about these didn't hear of them till now I personally struggle with taking care of hair I hate it my natural is kinda thick and medium long do you think the by good for me in high school
Firstly I’m soo glad I found your channel.I am 5 months in my lock journey.Got then installed late August just as we came out of our first lockdown in Wales (UK).I was something I had researched for 2,5years ,I was committed to do whatever it took especially in the first year,as my consultant is based in London 5 hours away.Crazy I know but I wanted then soo much and where I live in Wales there are no salons for blacks at all not 1!But a month after my installation we hit another lockdown and I retightened my hair because I wasn’t about to let my lock mat together as it was obvious my I wasn’t a candidate for a reti class. They look fine I 🤔,I’m midway doing my second reti because we are on our 3 lockdown. What was a girl supposed to do!Long story short I probably followed 5 of your 14 tips.
lol. Man, when life comes at you, it comes at you fast. You have to do what you have to do. Covid messed up so many things. I was supposed to get my hair done in March last year. Covid had other plans. I was able to get them done in July. Better late that never though. How has the self retightening been going for you?
Ivy Essence is my sisterlock inspiration as well. I went to college with her, but her sister who trained her is doing mine installation next week. They both remain booked and busy! Great video sis!
I have sisterlocks, and I did them myself. I have noticed that there is more information. When I started, I could not find a video showing how to start them, however, the ways that are mentioned online now, I knew had to be one of the ways. I started mine with a 3 strand knot twist that I created myself. It took me 24 hours, and as you can see in the photo, they are beautiful. During my early stages because I hated that shrinkage, I became created. I pulled them back as you see in the photo and wrapped some loose wet and wavy hair around my pony tail. Just a few strands. I am a #MasterCosmetologist, so it didn't take me long to figure it All out. I frequent online to check out the information. I made my own locking tool. I did 3, a starter, after a few months, and as they began to grow out. I now use the curve tool. Just 2 years this month and they are shoulder blade length some shrinkage, but not as much. I have my own haircare line.... DELLA'S DEWW! GROWW! A hair growth serum.. I make and sell products made from essential oils. I have seen the self lock video of sisterlocks. She locked the exact way that I do mine except I lock at the scalp out and I don't leave an opening. I close my locks completely up at the scalp, they last longer that way. I trim my locks because I don't like the puppy ear look like when they were new. As they grew out, I trimmed off any open hair at the end because I have a strong coil. I get stopped all the time and sooo many compliments. They are colored red at the moment. And yesss, the journey is real, wonderful, and I love it. I make my own shampoo and conditioner. I also have a scalp treatment. I keep hearing about lint. I have never had to deal with any abnormal issues with my locks at least nothing that I could not take care. Nice video by the way
My installation took about 18hrs over 2 days. Thank God I have a small head cuz I got alot of hair. Loved my hair at EVERY STAGE!. I think had an advantage cuz my family member has had sister locks for approx 15 years so I was able to see it at every stage
My install is tomorrow and I am so damn excited!!! Nervous as heck tho cause my edges are shady. My consultant said they would fill in but I’m still self conscious.
@BRENETTA MADISON BEAUTY heyyy! I am one month in! Going pretty good! Had one retie and wash. They are thickening up!! The ends are curling as well. Not doing much in terms of styling but my edges are growing in. Slowly but I’m definitely seeing progress!
Funny you mention the questions you would get. In 2018 or 2019, my sister-in-law had really tiny braids and I wondered how she would take the style down once she was ready not knowing they were locs. I didn't ask, it can come off as rude and in another person's business about their hair. Last year I learned what they actually were lol.
I'm so glad I found your channel. Thin ends and length of your hair is similar and my sisterloc anniversary is 9/27/20. Definitely will look to your videos for a community of knowledge and guidance. Learning so much. ❤ Sidenote, those lashes are poppin! What lashes and mascara did you use?
I am a newbie, not quite two weeks. Install took three days although we scheduled for four, and I loved my sisterlocks instantly. I had some length so I think that also helped. Looking forward to my journey...
This is a very good video. I have been loc’d since 2012. Everything you said is true. The only other thing I would add is when you get your install, your scalp will itch like crazy. Rose water did not work for me. I purchased Scalpicin at the drugstore and that definitely helped. I started off with about 6 inches and now my hair is about an inch away from my booty. Your hair will grow, grow, grow. I would also recommend taking your own pillow to the install because your butt is going to go numb sitting in that salon chair. Enjoy the journey.
Thanks for the tip about scalp itch. I'm going on 2 months in. Otherwise, I love my scalp and yes the shrinkage is real. I'm just glad my hair was a nice length from the start.
TheRealKylaB They willl swell a little more as they mature but for us low density gals we are not gonna ever have thick locks, individually. Thank God it doesnt keep them for being beautiful tho 😉
Thank you so much! Very informative and helpful! You provided some extra info to my research that I needed to know! My takeaway is the info regarding odors and hair color. I’ve been wrapping my hair in wraps for several years. I could probably stand to do a bit better with the silk wraps/pillowcases, which I had also been doing for some time, just not as consistent. I have natural hair. It's been several years or more since chemicals. I departed with products years ago as well. I remember my former stylist and I would laugh and discuss the fact that I never used anything in my hair, I would have flakes everywhere😆! My scalp has improved since then. I don't have the snowfall anymore. Thank you for adding the fact that one's hair needs to be in a healthy state! After my short research, I am looking at starting this journey (Lord says the same) at the end of this year or the beginning of next year. What are some other suggestions for preparation? Thanks again!!!
I just started my sisterloc journey. The install took 7 hours. Trying to get used to it, but really not feeling them right now. Received a comment mine are too thick. I did go to a certified professional. We’ll see only time will tell 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
My establishment took 9 hours with Teo people doing it. My butt was so sore afterwards lol I think my establishment meant day took a shorter time because she pre-parted my hair Teo days before, that way they were able to start right away on the day of my establishment
This was a very helpful video sweetie. I love the way you presented it and the intelligence you shown giving the information. Your locks are beautiful. You helped me make my choice in getting them.
Great information I am planning on getting th back since I experienced what you said about having a consultant near you. I loved them but the travel was also expensive so I was forced to cut them off and now there's a consultant near me and my plan is to get th back with her.
How often do you re-twist? If you don’t use products, what do you use to keep it moisturized? Oil and water, asking because your hair look moisturized in the video.
I get a retightening every 6 weeks when I’m on schedule. Every 8-10 when life gets on the way. And I drink a lot of water. Eat hair healthy foods. But I absolutely never use oil. Can’t stand oil in my hair. Even when I was a loose natural.
5 months in and i agree with you! I loved my hair when i 1st saw it, but that's because my consultant styled them really pretty for me after my install. So i guess i cheated 😂
lol. I didn't get mine styled, but no one could tell me my hair wasn't cute on establishment day. I loved my hair as soon as it was done. lol. And the first time I sprayed a little water on them, they thickened right up.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience... I don't have the patience.. I have fine hair and don't want to comb my hair often.. I have been natural for many years...Now I realize I'm not a candidate.. back to twisting my hair every few 6-8 weeks...lol...
Me? I always wanted them. Since I was in high school. My mom had locks most of my life and I thought they were beautiful. I just waited until I was no longer interested in doing other hairstyles to get them.
I just had my sister locks installed 5 days ago my sculp is very ichy and it took two days to be done, I have thin hair so they are not really looking good at the moment, I hope my locks will soon be looking good, and I’ve got short hair too 😊
This is the best information I've ever received about sister locs. Very detailed and honest! Also, so many things I didn't know about the maintenance process. It definitely helped me make up my mind about ever committing to sister locs.
Thanks for sharing all of your tips. I’m scheduled to get mines installed in January. You are truly an angel sent to get me through to do this because I don’t have patience when it comes to not getting them install TODAy. I want them like YESTERDAY!! but the consultant is booked up until January 😞🙃🙄 but her work is amazing. So please keep bringing the videos to help me through my waiting period on getting them install. Take care and stay safe🤗
I’ve been contemplating switching from traditional locs to sisterlocks so you’ve definitely given me alot to think about. I looooove your hair it’s perfect.
@@TheRealKylaB it just seems like it’s so much versatility. It seems like I’ll get the best of both worlds (locs and loose natural hair). It’s just overall beautiful to me.
I starting my establishment in Feb 2021. My consultant shared this same information. I must say, the sisterlock journey and community is REAL!!! I was informed it will take 2 days to install, so that says good compared to 3 days. The consistency in sisterlock information is refreshing.
By far the best channel I've come across after searching for and viewing waaaaay to many videos on sisterlocks....love ur breakdown n pointers the do's and don'ts and all around knowledge of sisterlocs....keep up the good work
This video was great. I research everything to death before making a decision but right not I simply don’t have the time so this video was on point and on time. No fluff; just info and you look so cute. I’m about to watch the other videos and for sure subscribe. I went natural with my daughter; my last perm was a year ago. I usually prefer sleek longer hair so this journey hasn’t been easy but I wanted to do it for her. I think sisterlocs will be a nice middle ground. Right now I have about 6-7 in of hair and my hair is SUPER thick. After watching this video, I think I need to wait until I have at least 10-12 in to get mine done. Thanks again! If you could post a video depicting different styles on your hair, that would be great. It was super cute in this video!!!
Thank you. I’m glad I was helpful! It will likely be more expensive if you wait. And I have some styling videos. Thank you so, so, so, so, so, so, so, sooooo much for this. I am growing my hair out after rocking shaved to the scalp haircuts for like 2 decades. This is all excellent to know. I will plan accordingly.
Thanks for this video! I’m starting to consider getting some type of lock but I’m not quite sure which one to get. While Sister locks look beautiful, this video helped me to see the practical side of it. When you said smells stay in the locks for a longer period of time, are you referring to any type of smell in the air (food, etc.) or just smells from what you put in your hair?
Definitely the smells in the air ( mainly food). Lol. I’ve always had a thing against smelling like food. So I tie my hair when I cook in the kitchen now.

15 hours. Originally scheduled for 2 days BUT we accomplished it in ONE DAY!!!! I was her 1st one day client ❤❤❤ (in ATL) 💪🏾😜 8in on top, 10-11 in back. You're tips were extremely helpful. THANKS SIS! Blessings to all
You’re welcome. Happy I was able to help! 💖
How much are they running for in the ATL area?
Starting at $800. But mine were A stack. Pretty much due to length...
hi what’s the place i’m wondering ik i’m a bit late
Hi! What’s the place/person you went to?
I cut my hair before my establishment because I knew I couldn’t sit for days, so it took 7 1/2 hours. Plus, the last weave I had thinned out my hair, so it was thin and very short.
lol. You gotta do what works for you. 7.5 hrs is a breeze.
Best sisterlock video so far
Thank you ☺️
I am actually thinking about starting the sister locks journey and found your video quite helpful.
So i started my journey 💃💃💃💃💃 i just completed a week 🤷🏾♀️
Congrats!!!!
And I’m happy my video was helpful to you!
Who did you go to in London?
@@michaelako3755 I went to Jusuhairboutique x
My hair took 3 days. I loved them afterward too. I didn't care about the thinness look. I'm so glad I chose to transition.
Ivy Essence is my sisterlock inspiration as well. I went to college with her, but her sister who trained her is doing mine installation next week. They both remain booked and busy! Great video sis!
Thank you 😊
I have sisterlocks, and I did them myself.
Nice video by the way
I know this is time consuming, but I'm ready to try sisterlocks ..Thanks for the info
N. Holley don’t be. I have a bald spot on the right side of my edges. It’s not obvious like I thought it would be.
N. Holley happy establishment day!!!!!
@BRENETTA MADISON BEAUTY heyyy! I am one month in! Going pretty good! Had one retie and wash. They are thickening up!! The ends are curling as well. Not doing much in terms of styling but my edges are growing in. Slowly but I’m definitely seeing progress!
Hey! What’s your 3 year lock update?
I actually won't mind the scalpy phase. I like being able to see the clean lines of my grid.
I feel you. lol. I personally like when my locs look a little lived in. Not too fresh, but not in need of a retighteing either. lol
My install took 3 days and about 34 hours 😭
That’s not bad. Lol. How long was your hair?
So glad I came across your channel. I just started doing my research and this video was very helpful. Thank you!
😅 They're new to me.
I absolutely love this video, the realness is amazing. I've been thinking about getting locs, thank you so much for the info
You’re welcome ☺️. happy to help.
I'm so glad I found your channel. Thin ends and length of your hair is similar and my sisterloc anniversary is 9/27/20. Definitely will look to your videos for a community of knowledge and guidance. Learning so much. ❤
Sidenote, those lashes are poppin! What lashes and mascara did you use?
Happy to help boo 💖
My lashes are from Lilly Lashes. They’re called Syndney. ( I believe. )
@TheRealKylaB I love your locs. In this video they are so beautiful. I haven't watched the other videos yet😊
I am a newbie, not quite two weeks. Install took three days although we scheduled for four, and I loved my sisterlocks instantly. I had some length so I think that also helped. Looking forward to my journey...
Congratulations! Same! I loved mine too. I hope you have a beautiful loc journey! Make sure you take lots of pictures along the way ☺️
Tunisai Ali is one of my favorites when it comes to sisterlocs.
yes. She is one of the first people I watched on TH-cam
@@TheRealKylaB km y
Thank you so much for this video!!! I currently have traditional locs and I want to transition to sisterlocks this video definitely helped!!
You're so welcome! Glad it was helpful!
I just got my sister locks two weeks ago and I love it 😊
I did the big chop and started my locs at 4 inches length. Took 16 hours, two days
that's not bad.
Yes! Those are helpful tips too. Thanks for sharing them!
Thanks for the tip about scalp itch. I'm going on 2 months in. Otherwise, I love my scalp and yes the shrinkage is real. I'm just glad my hair was a nice length from the start.
Same. Lol
My install was 21 hours and I had 399 locks. Im 16 months in and have had to combine like 3-4 locks. Mostly around the edges.
Have your locks swelled much? Or are they about the same size they were when you had them established?
TheRealKylaB They have swelled but not by alot in my opinion...I have really small locks with super curly ends
@@mrs.joejoe6424 yeah. I have 397 and my locs haven’t swelled much since the first time they were washed. I don’t think they’ll swell much either.
TheRealKylaB They willl swell a little more as they mature but for us low density gals we are not gonna ever have thick locks, individually. Thank God it doesnt keep them for being beautiful tho 😉
Right! Lol
Lol thanks sis. I needed this as a newbie to wanting sister locks. One of my concerns is who to let start it
Wow, the most informative video I have watched regarding sister locks. Great video👍🏽 thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Yeah. That makes sense. Cause that parting..... time consuming. Lol
This was a very helpful video sweetie. I love the way you presented it and the intelligence you shown giving the information. Your locks are beautiful. You helped me make my choice in getting them.
Thank you 😊
& I’m happy to help !
Great information I am planning on getting th back since I experienced what you said about having a consultant near you. I loved them but the travel was also expensive so I was forced to cut them off and now there's a consultant near me and my plan is to get th back with her.
Aww. I’m sorry you had to cut them off. I hope you have a better journey this time 🥰
How often do you re-twist?
@@TheRealKylaB yes! It was the 1st wash for me! 😍 They were totally different locks.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience... I don't have the patience.. I have fine hair and don't want to comb my hair often.. I have been natural for many years...Now I realize I'm not a candidate.. back to twisting my hair every few 6-8 weeks...lol...
You're welcome :). I'm always happy to help!
Thank u love. I just started my loc journey ❤
Thanks for the tips. I’m strongly considering sisterlocks
You’re welcome 😊Glad I could help!
This was helpful but I decided 2021 is my year. What made you decide?
Me? I always wanted them. Since I was in high school. My mom had locks most of my life and I thought they were beautiful. I just waited until I was no longer interested in doing other hairstyles to get them.
Great videos! I just got mine this week love them. 30 hours. But so worth it.
Welcome to the club!! Lol 😊
How's the shrinkage and frizz? You're happy
I just had my sister locks installed 5 days ago my sculp is very ichy and it took two days to be done, I have thin hair so they are not really looking good at the moment, I hope my locks will soon be looking good, and I’ve got short hair too 😊
Thanks so much…your channel is very informative!!! I’m starting my research into sister locks, and trying to determine if they are right for me.
You’re welcome!
Happy to help
This is the best information I've ever received about sister locs. Very detailed and honest! Also, so many things I didn't know about the maintenance process. It definitely helped me make up my mind about ever committing to sister locs.
Love your channel. My hair is fine as well. I get my install dec5,2021. Ready!!! Thanks sis for all your videos. Truly helped.
Thank you!
Happy install day! & I hope you have a beautiful loc journey!
Take care and stay safe🤗
lol. I will do my best. I'm glad I could help!
I’ve been contemplating switching from traditional locs to sisterlocks so you’ve definitely given me alot to think about. I looooove your hair it’s perfect.
Thank you so much!
May I ask, why are you considering switching?
@@TheRealKylaB it just seems like it’s so much versatility. It seems like I’ll get the best of both worlds (locs and loose natural hair). It’s just overall beautiful to me.
Are you able to do that though?
@@tiffanyminnis1628 you’d just have to comb your locs out love. I’ve since then combed mine out, relaxed my hair, and cut it to go back natural lol
@@nykiciajefferson7457 😧 that is the definition of patience
Thank you for all the information, it made my decision easier to make. Your hair is beautiful now can only imagine the look months from now
I'm happy you found the information useful :)
& thank you!
My install took about 5 hours 😅probably because two people did it for me but I really loved it in the end
I love your voice! I’ve been back and forth for years, but they aren’t for me 😩😩. Almost every issue you named 🥴🥴 I suffer from.
Thank you 😊. And I’m sorry to hear that. Did someone tell you that you weren’t a good candidate for sisterlocks at your consultation?
I starting my establishment in Feb 2021. My consultant shared this same information. I must say, the sisterlock journey and community is REAL!!! I was informed it will take 2 days to install, so that says good compared to 3 days. The consistency in sisterlock information is refreshing.
Yes. It is. Good luck on your Sisterlock journey!🥰 I know you're excited. I couldn't wait for mine to begin.
Thank you so much for the suggestions with the sister locs and it's going to be my first time doing this
No problem!! Happy to help
Your hair is so beautiful
Just had my installation. It took 24hours over 3 days 😭😭😭 and there’s lots of scalp, but I was prepared for that since I watched a lot of videos.
Lol. Yeah. The scalpy phase will be over before you know it. ❤️
By far the best channel I've come across after searching for and viewing waaaaay to many videos on sisterlocks....love ur breakdown n pointers the do's and don'ts and all around knowledge of sisterlocs....keep up the good work

I’m getting my Sisterlocks installed as of right now🤗🤗🤗
I thought you were getting them in January! You got moved up? I'm so excited for you!! How long was your establishment/install?
@@TheRealKylaB roughly about 20 hours over 2 days.
Nice. Not bad at all. Welcome to the club sis! ☺️
I LOVED the "scalpy" faze; I could style them easier than when they grew long!
I liked it too. I know a lot of women don't. but I think it's cute.
Best informational video I have seen so far. Beautiful hair and make up too.
Please share your make up tips in yhe future 😊
Thank you, I will! 💖
U r so 100% and I love that. I think you should give life advise because people don't keep it 💯 any more. Take care and thank u
Thank you
Thanks so much for sharing and being honest about sister locks. I changed my mind... not for me!
You're welcome. I'm happy I was able to help you make a decision. :)
Tunisia Ali and Livin divine are my loc crushes.🤫🤗🤩
I have to look up Livin Divine! Thank you !

Thanks for being very detailed! Excellent!
And your hair looks gorgeous sis☺️!
Thanks boo !
YW ☺️
Pretty much why I did DIY microlocs lol but I know it's not for everyone
lol. Yeah. I thought about doing that at first.
@@TheRealKylaB good idea!
Your sister locks are gorgeous!!!! I’m waiting but I’m getting them.
