idk so far escape cards are weak and overcosted because they assume escape is worth something. Escape won't matter if the card is unplayable. did bone dragon see play? it was basically just an escape card
@@TheAutomedon This might be true for standard sets before Arena but if there is anything at all to do with Escape cards in standard people will find and abuse the hell out of it very quickly.
I'm curious why an equipment would need escape. Cant wait to find out.
Maybe it's the golden deathmasks worn by The Returned that are escaping? The mask comes along for the ride

I'm less hyped for this then war of the spark but I didn't play during the og theros so. But im exited never the less and love the alt lands
@@lordhedgehog1493 well, I despise the broken mechanic that planeswalkers are, should all be sagas. So I was definitely not excited for war of the Sparks 😂😂.
I'm excited for Theros mainly to see a change in the standard meta, other than that, I'm mainly hyped for all the EDH products being released next year!
@@near193 I love the MTG story that's why I loved war and I don't know why everyone hates on Planeswalkers they are pretty easy to take care of and I don't even use them because of that

So it's basically Jump-start but with extra steps huh
different, is strictly better as this one is repetitive, so long you have cards and mana to pay the costs

Also it said escape is only sorcery speed so in a way it balances
The narrator didnct say escape is only sorcery, they said that it didn't change when you can cast it. So instant card will still be instant.

So hype for this set. It promotes self mill and one of my favorite deck is Varina Lich Queen. She also has zombie synergies which I hope get some cards in this set (I mean come on its the underworld leaking)

how exactly do instants, sorceries, and enchantments "escape" as nonphysical things?

If i cast a creature from my graveyard without activating the escape ability. I'm still casting it from my graveyard, but it doesn't count as having escaped?

So wait...equipment artifact cost can be from 3 drop to 5 with "escape" plus the equip cost of 3 (give or take), You'll probably be paying 8- 11 mana for equipments? That would be absurd!

feel like it might be kind of complicated to have to keep up on opponents GY for annoying instants and stuff
Chairman Meow already a thing you have to do in many formats. snapcaster mage, torrential gearhulk, delirium, flashback, there have always been cards and mechanics that make your opponents graveyard relevant.
Magic is a complicated game, there are way more complicated things then keeping track of a few cards in your opponents graveyard
thankfully grafdigger's cage stops escape and cat-oven.
I would highly recommend to use Instant and Sorcery cards without the Jump Start mechanic, Saga Enchantments, and even using Creature Cards like Shock for example, to unleash even more devastation with the Escape mechanic, as long as you don't have cards that put cards from the graveyard to anywhere else that does not exile, unless you have the God Creature cards from War of the Spark. I would hope that this tip will be highly useful for you to understand involving the Escape mechanic.

Was Elspeth not programmed right for the Arena event? I could have sworn I’ve activated her Escape ability on my opponent’s turn. It was also worded as returning to the battlefield ability and not as a cast.
I could just be crazy and remembering the event wrong.
