In all honesty this or the eldrazi or just phyrexian either or would make an amazing like action game where you could play like one of five different color planeswalkers and they each have like their own unique story to the overall story or there could be like a special new Planeswalker for the game that's like a mix of all the colors. And then it plays out its own story that occurs within the forex the or eldrazi. Will probably make for a great video game. If it played like devil May cry that'd be even more awesome than enough games that play like devil May cry I mean Warhammer has like video game versions of their games but they are shooters I think if you did like a planeswalker play like devil May cry. It could probably be a hit. Instead of like guns you just use magic spells.

i mean is it really hasbro to blame? i dont know if you have been paying attention to the dnd drama lately but a former employee came out saying they heard management refer to customers as "An obstacle between them and their money" and that they have never heard management talk about customers in a positive light. i wanted to believe it was hasbro's fault too but that may not be the case. I know we cant necessarily take that employee at their word but it is telling based on whats been going on the past week or so.

Hasbro is garbage but the artists involved with their products are amazing and deserve our support and respect. The flavor is insane, the art beautiful, the lore epic. Man, I'm pumped for this set.
And this is why hasbro won’t try to get better, the artist will still be able to live if hasbro goes down, hell most of them already have gigs they do outside of magic and will probably just recover just fine

I agree we should directly support the artists who make amazing art for other companies. Tbh a lot of them have there own social media to fallow. I would recommend going out and finding these people. The art they made for this game are already been payed for. I believe they don't get anymore money based on how many packs has been purchased.

Maybe speaking for myself on this one then. I don't see any issue where a company commissions more original art in this world. No one is holding anyone over the coals to purchase it. Especially when it doesn't give anyone a competitive edge. The artist/art involved was a big reason why I got back into the game
as much as i don't enjoy the direction that magic has gone in with so many variants of cards, collector, set, and draft boosters, and other unnecessary variants, I gotta say that the Manga style and Black/White aesthetic is incredible for Phyrexians
Yeah, but there are people who like the variants you don't. There are more booster and card variants and that's fine. Just buy the ones you like.
MTG died on July 29th 2003; but I do think the black and white sketch style really fits OG phyrexians before WoTC perverted them.

Yes, I agree. We just need one or two versions of a card though. It doesn't make Elesh better by having 5 different card arts and styles. In fact it hurts the game because we have to constantly check to see what our opponents have because we can't remember every card and every variant. I like being able to just see an art and know the card. They need to stick with art and stop trying all this fancy shit.

Got into Magic when the New Phyrexia block was current. Probably around 6th grade. Phyrexia has always been my favorite concept in Magic. I am a huge Alien fan so the art really does speak. I just wish WotC wasn’t an awful company… I would love to purchase. Too many alternatives of one card and too many products in a year to digest. No thanks.
Dude my exact thought. I went to a comic store and saw some magic cards. I remember I saw the phyrexian hulk card from tempest and I thought It was the coolest thing. Started playing around the invasion block but I mostly just collected phyrexians haha
A lot of the marketing decisions are made by the execs, not the same people who are making the game

It’s not wizards. It’s Hasbro. Hasbro took them over a few years ago. Hasbro is a dying company, and once they acquired WoTC they started milking MtG for every penny they can. Hasbro (as well as EDH) killed magic.
The greatest threat the magic multiverse has ever faced, is Hasbro.

Twelve years since New Phyrexia, I have been longing for this. At last I actually feel at home again.
As a player since the mid 90's having loved Phyrexia, this is a long awaited dream come true.

The phyrexian invasion such a massive threat, they start winning, looks like they are gonna win, good guys become desperate for ally's, release Bolas and Ugin.
Bolas doesn't have a Spark anymore, he would have to harvest a bunch of them first ... I mean, maybe just grab those from the compleated walkers.
But Ugin has merged his essence with the meditation plane, so he would probably not be able to come back - and they are both sealed off from the multiverse.
Might be tricky.
@@sertaki Orrrrr. an Eldrazi decides to feast. There are more, they live between planes and a whole lot of shenanigans just decided to bridge all of them together. I would find it funny if Merit Leige is the answer to the phyrexian problem.

Artists responsible for building these worlds never cease to amaze me. No matter the game or genre whenever things are falling apart all around, the art departments and featured artists hold strong and continue to blow us all away. 16:35 nice :)

It would still be great if the eldrazi and the phyrexians encountered each other. It's something I've been wanting to see for a long time. It would be pure chaos for the two multiversal Horrors to meet each other. And considering one of the eldrazi Titans was inside the mind of one of the first Planeswalkers to be converted I guarantee she knows what's happening. She can leave the moon at anytime and continue her consumption of all World seen as out of balance. And perhaps the phyrexians are the ones that she said may see her as beautiful one day
Ya know, as two terrible multiversal threats who twist others into new shapes and consume planes, it would be an interesting fight to watch. The main question would be, can an Eldrazi be compleated. They are not exactly flesh, and they suck the mana right out of whatever they contact, meaning that the oil may just become dust when trying to infect an Eldrazi. Yet the Eldrazi are not exactly coordinated, and while I would argue they are hyper-sentient, their minds are so alien that they may just get trapped again like back in Zendikar. If three, albeit ancient and powerful, planeswalkers can devise a strategy to hold them in place, the hyper intelligent phyrexians could probably figure it out,
@@danielkubicek1323 emrakul herself it is incredibly intelligent and is technically the most powerful single being in the MPG Universe we know. So the eldrazi under her command are coordinated as we saw in her Battle on innistrad. She outright dominated the minds of even the strongest Planeswalkers and turned Angels into cannibals simply by being present on the planet. It's unlikely the two would ever faced each other but if they did as a last resort on behalf of our heroes it would definitely not be a happy ending for the Multiverse

I'm all for booster fun. Magic is a game, so its made to be played first and foremost. Having any card with 10 treatment is FINE because this way the cards become cheap, so ANYONE can PLAY them. It has always bugged me when I just needed a card but couldn't lay 70$ for a single card that I needed as a playset.
I love magic because it can be played so many ways. Some formats are designed to be pay to win like Vintage or Legacy, some are the opposite like Pauper or Penny Deadful.
I actually hope when we come back to eldraine we get the same storybook treatment as last time we where their. The art and frame looks beautiful.
And pro on the oilslick cards, but the phyrexian symbol on the other foils look sooo bad. I hope I don't grab one out of a booster 👀
Bummed we didn't get Wither as a core concept, but I enjoy what the set seems to be bringing as a whole.
Eh, Wither was kind of a weak mechanic tbh, it'd be hard to work that into a non Lorwyn set
I agree. I wanted a return of -1/-1 counters on creatures so my hapatra deck can have a refresh. Like wither but with toxic to the player. A fixed infect.
As a newbie to magic this really tickles my buy-senses. This will be the first set that comes out while I can say "I kinda know what I do in magic, sometimes"
The commander precon decks and the starter-set also helped me getting started to this game. Tried it 2 years ago and was overwhelmed by cards and mechanics that it stopped me from really having fun with it. But right now they are doing a great job in bringing the game to absolute beginners.
Man, Im not a newbie but comebacker, however i felt the same way as you did. Thus the product i enjoyed the most this year was the new Jumpstart. Me and my friends kept the themes separated and now we can blind pick two or three of them and have interesting games of testing the different mechanics, strategies and the good thing is they are more or less equally powerfull (the mythic rare ones have higher pwr level so we pick 1 mythic and one or more rare themes.
This format is such a great way to get into the paper magic once you jumped off or starting from beginning.

Its a shame you couldnt get some Frank Miller art for that "ink wash" style, because I think his art really fits that.

@@danielkubicek1323 It cured Garruk's curse, regrowing limbs should be no issue. Also they already ruined the thing about stakes in that Garruk example. It was too easy and convenient for Garruk to have been cured, so why not for any planeswalker they want for whatever reason, from nostalgia to whatever is happening in the current culture.

I think it's a huge missed oppotunity to not have 5 color Omnath in this set. in the lore, you could have Omnath get covered in black phyrexian oil and there you add the black mana. so his mana cost would be {W}{U}{Phyrexian B symbol}{R}{G}. I think that would be very cool.
do we get cool reprints in the commander precons, since its poison themed I would love for it to have a copy of "Triumph of the Hordes". that card is creeping up in price.

Let's see if there's anything good to add to my vintage deck. One of the new Praetors has my opponents lose 2 life and me gain 2 everytime they draw a card and I combo that with Ancestral Recall.
