The meaning of Baepsae or 'Crow Tit" goes far beyond simply "be yourself". In South Korea, the younger generations are condescendingly called Crow Tits, or Silver Spoons, (J-Hope mentions "dirty spoons" in Mic Drop's opening bars) and it refers to the socioeconomic situation there. The older generations are considered the Storks, who in their time experienced a massive economic post-war boom that lifted them into a prosperity and independence that the current youth for the most part cannot hope to match. There is a lot of criticism towards the youth for being lazy, but they are now up against much more economic oppression than the older generations, and have been forced to give up on various aspects of life that should be a given and a right, like the ability to afford marrying and having kids for some. The numbers RM raps about in "Dope" also refer to this phenomenon. If you watch the DKDKTV explanation of Baepsae, which is quite an angry political song as well as a freakin' bop, it will really help you to understand the significance of the word, to the younger generations, to BTS and their mandate to protect youth. It is an unfortunate coincidence that such an important name happens to contain a translated word that most English-speaking people immediately giggle and get uncomfortable about, and undermines the real message of the song.

that was a very optimistic interpretation of the baepsae-saying. think more underdog or 'know your place' or 'don't aim above your station' or how silver/golden spoons (socioeconomic background) make a difference.
you definitely need to listen to their song baepsae / silver spoon, watch a live performance, watch the dance practice and watch DKDKTV explanation video for the cultural context - i think you'd really enjoy it.

This is an actual location. There's a behind the scenes you could watch in your own time. It was actually freezing when they were shooting.
In the beginning of the song they were actually running from the "mob". In the second verse you can see Hobi breaking through a wall the enemy created and the enemy actually performing as sort of a tank or weapon. After the "shooting" the mob ends up being on their side and they run together instead of being chased. Most of that is easier to observe in the dance practice or a live version.
Guess I don't have to explain the Baepsae anymore😅
Not Today is the MV that made me ARMY. I had heard some other BTS songs before but they were more pop style songs and had not really gotten me to look them up more as they were not really I style I was drawn to. I had watched other Kpop groups before as well so they were sometimes recommended but somehow not the songs that I would have immediatly liked...then at some point I randomly clicked on this video on youtube....they had me at "All the underdogs in the world A day may come when we lose But it is not today Today we fight"....becasue my Lord of the Rings fan mind went to Aragorn's speech at the black gate "A day may come when the courage of Men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields when the Age of Men comes crashing down, but it is not this day! This day we fight!" plus I really liked the music and the song and the dance and so of course I looked up the rest of the lyrics...and then looked up more songs and more lyrics and just kept going 😆

Your reaction is exactly the reaction they were going for in this MV. It's the same reaction we all had the first time we watched this video. There's also a "choreography version" of it that I really like.
This is a perfect workout song - has anger for weights, rhythm for cardio and sections for sets of exercises 😁

I can't believe that in these past 3 (?) years we haven't yet impressed upon you the importance of the song Baepsae (or Silver Spoon). You neeeeed to react to it. Lol. I say this bc if you knew this song you would know all about crowtits. There's no mv but there is a dance practice that is gold and many live performances that you will enjoy. It's a very meaningful song and the choreo is... something.... it's something. Anyways, I hope you react to it soon. You'll have a blast.
Also, when you said to fix many postures, I was mildly concerned bc fixing other people's postures is generally not socially acceptable, but then I remembered that I am in fact a massage therapist in real life, and fixing many postures will not actually be an issue for me.

I’m glad army in the chat have baepsae covered for you, there is a lot more to it than what you found via google, echoing everyone else’s recommendations to watch the baepsae explanation video before you react to the song itself, because it really needs the cultural context to be fully understood.

What?!? You had not seen this MV yet? I am so happy to see your reaction, and pleased that you looked up crow-tit/baepsae. Just to add a bit to the Korean saying, baepsae is the underdog and baepsae is used in reference to today's younger generations. BTS references the economical/social disparities that younger generations face in Dope, and it is the focus of their song Baepsae.
My personal take on the bird's eye view of the arrow formation is a flock of birds...together we can fight/sustain/succeed.
This song was my anthem during the first year of the pandemic. I wanted to crawl under a rock and eat ice cream. Not Today...today I fight.

I couldn't believe you hadn't already reacted to this classic and was so looking forward to you doing it. It is a really stirring anthem which reflects their own battle to succeed against the odds as well as having a deeper meaning for youth/ people in general to break through the glass ceiling of what ever is holding them back. Even references one of MLK's speeches. Great stuff. 💜

Any small titlike bird of the family Paradoxornithidae, noted for their curved, parrotlike bills.
It's a Korean term often used to describe someone who has to work twice as hard to get where someone else is. A crow-tit has to work twice as hard to get to the same place as a long-legged bird.

But I want to talk about something unrelated: I was watching a J-Drama (BL) the other day called Kinou Nani Tabeta (What did you eat yesterday?) And there was a scene in one of the episodes with a very obvious Dutch angle and I immediately thought about you! I mean DUTCH ANGLE, how I wouldn't remember about you! Anyway, I think it enhanced the comic of the scene, it was about the main character finding a good promo in the supermarket. I just thought I should comment about this 😅

I'm curious if you have ever considered just doing a reaction to the music in the visuals in the video and then doing a separate reaction to the cinematography aspects of the video separately?
I am interested in your filmmaker's perspective but I personally feel it would serve the music video reaction and the cinematography reaction best if they were done separately.
It is an actual location and a practical dance floor and if you watch the making of video you'll see that and you'll also hear them talking about how cold it is especially when they filmed at night.
