I love how Nate Crowley made Ghazghkull, he didn’t just made him imposing, he made Ghaz “human”.
I especially felt sympathy when Ghaz was confessing that he didn’t feel Orky enough and fell into depression.
And when Ghaz was being resurrected, his speech to the gods, I actually felt a bit of pride.

@@Biodeamon I'd think more so that the genestealer Orks, with how the genestealer shenanigans work, basically become calmer and more focused on their tasks. Which to the average Ork is absolutely heretical in their own way. A calm composed Ork who is compliant and focused? Pffft.
Depresso might exist for the Orks, but it's 100% not for long. Unlike our depressions Ork probably feel sad for a bit then forget about it like a few hours or a day later. And it's probably related, as the OP said, to not feeling "Orky" enough. An Ork seeing you act weird as another Ork once won't probably matter at all, but constantly being weird and not being like a brain boy or something is automatically a choppa to the skull.

As someone who's had multiple brain surgeries and as a result got chronic headaches/migraines, I too wish to take over hundreds of planets and become gigantic and green.

Love the way Nate has done Xenos both the Orks and the Necrons. I would love to see him write an Eldar book as they are not done well in most novels.

With Biter's betrayal I thought it was because of the ghazkulls tale, basically through translating his purely orky adventures he felt alive, he felt the drive and thought "why be worrying bout humies while I could be an ork with ghazkul"
Nate Crowley recently did a voice spot in Oculus Imperia's video: The Waaagh Effect (at vaguely 24 minutes in), as an Ork discussing how Ork stuff works and is fantastic in it.
Wait, that was Nate? He was incredible.

Yeah, Ragnar's becoming a space wolf was my first wh40k book. Somewhere around 2008-2010. Nostalgic as shit moment
Good times that were. But now kamikaze drones are hitting my uncle's work, that is almost as immersive, i guess

For a Space Wolf book, I would recommend Space Wolf by William King. It's probably the best introduction into 40k I can think of as it follows Ragnar's initiation as a Space Marine. I always recommend it to people who want to get into 40k. William King is a great writer as well.
Sons of Dorn was good for the same reasons too.

@Slim Pickens He has a table top model, lore in the codex, a novel titled Lukas the Trickster by Joshua Reynolds, makes an appearance in the novel Ashes of Prospero and has two short stories, A Trick of the Light and Jackalwolf: Call of Chaos. I find this brainy little bastard too be an absolute chad! XD He's a cunning, smart as hell smartass Space Wolf and I love it!

I need to buy this then, mostly for Shy's recommendation to ork fans (LOIKE ME), and second to read in full detail Biter's PROPPA’ Blood Axe TAKTIKS (AKA: "stab them brutally when they least expect it")

I think Biter killed Cassia because she an ogryn and therefore the biggest person on the ship. His ork mindset kicked in and he thought “if I kill the biggest, then I’ll be the biggest and the best”.

I really loved how the memory projection ritual bit was in 2nd person, made it feel more strange and surreal

I always wondered if it was awkward to speak and invite people whose books you’ve criticized like say Twice Dead Reign.
They were very polite in their criticism, and were concise. I believe in their last club with Nate they brought it up and Nate said it was cool.
I gotta say, the thing I really like about the image is that Nate Crowley's head is in a jar getting topped off with liquid by Shy, but you guys were still apparently considerate enough to pour him a drink
I need Nate to write a Space Wolves book because he really captures how fucking terrifying they really are.
Really one of my favorite 40k book. the escalation and the constant shift in perspective is amazing craft. I loved the humour and the philosophy. Makes you think about the parallels between the Emperium and the orks. Just loved it :)

The way I imagine life as an ork is to imagine the entire material universe as a club and a video game. The Orks spawn in through their grow holes and party it up until they get kicked out for not having a body. They wake up in The Great Green with a terrible hangover, maybe commiserate with the other orky souls about how much fun it was, then get in line to go back in with a fresh body that has no EXP, and the soul only having the vaguest of memories about the last time they were out at this party.
I’m glad I finished it in time, completely forgot when it was supposed to come out but grabbed it off of Amazon easy. I was so sad later on in the book, because I realized I was running out of pages! I sincerely hope they do a follow up to this, it was an absolute treat to read
I'd love to watch a movie based on this book this was downright awsome.

This is the first book I've actually picked up and read in years and was probably one of the best reads I've had in a long time. Highly recommend a book just a great read overall.

I do think it would be worth doing Space Wolf (1999) by William King for one of the book clubs.
I remember it doing a good job of going into what the space wolves are like as well as the space marine recruiting process in general.

I will say this now if you don't like the space marines because they're boring, you will at least appreciate how unique they are as a chapter with their traditions and culture

I love this book. I'm a voracious reader, and this is one of the best books I've read. It's _the_ book to introduce people into 40K as it not only stands alone, but it shows just how _inhuman_ Space Marines are.
It also ties into some of the most major story beats, so if someone later reads about stuff like Armageddon they'll have context.
I love that Nate shows that orks lack a gender, and how misogynistic and fasc-y Space Marines are

He’s a little closer to Starscream to his Megatron. He enjoys hurting Gaz with his experiments but Gaz keeps him around because despite all the trouble he causes he’s still got plenty of use too.

Hey Shy, if you read older comments on videos: as an resident ork fan you most likely know about it anyway, but consider recommending Bricky Kromlech ork bits for his Blood Axes. It's polish company, so it might be pricy to send it from center of europe to USA, but hey, always worth checking. Also Nate sometimes sounds like Murdoc from Gorillaz when doing ork voice and I love that, because Gorillaz Orkz is the same sort of wacky idea as Borderlands Orks.

52:03- This is definitely one of those things that I just came to my own conclusion about and thought I was right. But I thought of the fact that the number one sex of humans the Orks see, fight and also here talk is male and also (from the lore’s perspective not mine) that humans act like and treat women as the weaker sex Orks would obviously choose to see themselves as males. Because they truly believe they are the strongest race. There were other factors but that was the main one that made me think the way I think about Orks! I love Orks though!!! They are awesome and possibly the best part about WH! In my opinion at least
