This was absolutely amazing!!! I've been living with a giant butt divet in my leather couch for a long time and didn't even want to have people over. Thought I would just have to buy a new couch because I couldn't fathom how to replace the cushions sibce they were attached with no zippers. This video was so easy to understand and gave me the confidence to try it. It worked perfectly and was so easy!!! I went to the store and bought the same size foam and just reused the batting from the old cushion. I suggest taking the old one out and carefully measuring before buying the foam as its easy to get the wrong thickness. If its too distorted, use one of the good cushions as a guide. Again, I can't say enough about this tutorial! My couch was a Natuzzi. I have a feeling many couches of this type are constructed similarly enough to follow along.

Replaced a cushion on the two seater and another on the three seater. Don't think that I'd have been able to do it without the help of this video.
Most time consuming bit was the removal of the staples from the base cover. Upholsterers must have been on tonnage when making them.
Advice I was given on a youtube video was to add an inch to the height of the cushion. Think the foam would have sat better in the cover if I hadn' t done that. Pleased with the results anyway.
Bought the foam from efoam in the UK. Problem free buying and fitting.

Chris thank you so much for your video this was the first video of many I found on TH-cam. I transformed my completely sagging couch seats backs and arms. All which were sewn, in removable to my couch. I had to work from the deck add new webbing add new foam add new polyester to fill the back seating and and rests each side.
For fraction of a price of a new three seater leather couch I’ve got my own back like new which should last another good few years.
Thanks again Chris for the inspiration. A new couch for the new year.
    Wishing you well for 2023!

Chris, thank you so much for this amazing video. We purchased a new Palliser sofa that we were most disappointed with, and eventually they sent us replacement cushions. We had been dreading replacing the cushions ourselves, but thanks to your great step-by-step video my wife and I were able to do the replacement in just a couple of hours. Our sofa is just like new again.

Thank you for your very informative video
Seats started to sag on my Nattuzzi couch one year after purchase. Contacted store who sent an upholsterer who then came back with replacement foam.
I don't know how he done it but he never removed the base as you did. It looked as if he inserted the foam through the webbing.
Two years later we are back to square one and after watching your video I have ordered replacement foam cut to size of the existing cushion and will be carrying out the work shortly.
Might have been better waiting until I had completed the replacement but I'll get back when the job is done.
Once again for your excellent video

HOW TO FIX SAGGING SOFT SOFA CUSHIONS:!
Please, I use to repair furniture.
It's not your springs, it's the Foam that does all the support, most often foam does not have to be replaced, it's often best not to replace it, it's expensive and difficult.
Just simply make it into a sandwich-add a foam sheet, and call it good for many many more years.
Thats because once foam sags, it's just broken in and will retain that same reduced firmness for many many years.
So if a piece of foam is simply added, bring it back to a desirable firmness support, the old foam can serve another long life for the owner.
So find or cut, say about a 2" thick sheet of upholstery type foam, sometimes found as trash-as packing material for computer equipment etc.
Test lay the sheet on top of the sagging seat and sit on it.
If still not firm enough, use more or a thicker piece or a firmer type of foam.
Make your selection of what is needed.
Compress the foam as needed so there's no undue stress on the fabric and it's seams during this procedure:
Unzip and carefully roll up the fabric, revealing the sagging foam core until there is the minimum left on the front nose of the cushion.
Use a spare hacksaw in hand to saw-cut from back to almost but not through the front(leave as a hinge) of the sagging foam core, at a middle horizontal level.
Place the foam sheet in the cut, as if it is a piece of meat placed in a hinged sandwich.
As a more secure option, spray foam approved adhesive to both sides of the foam sheet and quickly press it all together and sit on it for a five minutes.
Use the hacksaw blade to trim any excess foam sheet edge that's sticking out.
If the seat core is wrapped in soft material, properly position as needed.
    -spray adhesive as desired.
Now sternly bend and compress the foam where needed so there's no undue stress against the fabric as you roll the fabric back over the foam.
If the fabric is uneven, insert your hand and tug on fabric as needed to adjust.
    Zipper it shut.
    Congrats

I have a Natuzzi leather sofa that looks similar and it is sagging after twelve years of use. The leather is still perfect, so replacing the foam seems like a good option. Is the sag caused by the foam alone, or can the straps also wear out?

    • @emmaloupuro5552
      @emmaloupuro5552 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Eric Bernal I have the same. The webbing failed. You cannot order the same webbing...as Natuzzi realized the webbing attachment breaks too easily. You have to build seat frames and buy webbing that can be stapled onto the new frames. Sucks. Also the foam is beginning to fail. My leather looks brand new! Natuzzi techs can fix my couch and chair for 1500.00. They come to your home and do the repairs there. I have yet to decide what to do.

Hi Chris, im trying to gather some info with regards to leather sofas cuz i think ive been conned with the one i brought, mine is only one year old and where theres a crease its slipt, the thing thats getting me thou is the look of the leather its got some white materical on the back of the leather some man made materical looks like cotton, but why would leather need something on the back of it i know my leather jacket dont and for it starting to spilt only after one year of light use, it was suppose to be real leather, hope you dont mind me asking and your feedback would be very grateful. Thanks Matt

    • @snevs1324
      @snevs1324  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Matt, sorry for such a delayed response. It sounds like you purchased a product that was a combination of leather and bonded leather (bonded leather is a combination of polyurethane and leather flakes) which are sometimes sold as all leather goods. Unfortunately, there is no recourse, unless you communicate directly with the retailer you bought the product from. I wish you the best of luck in getting this problem resolved!

I have not had any luck in finding a leather couch where the cushions come off, so you can rotate them to keep them from stretching. I've looked for new and old leather couches in consignment shops. There are zero leather couches where you can just take the cushion off, so the work done in this video is worth it if you want a leather couch that does not sag and look old.
