    Beautiful video! I think you must be a hairdresser in real life, because you knew exactly how to comb and roll her hair so well! Beautiful work, my friend, what a lovely finished work you have done ❤😊❤ I just love how you styled her hair at the end, and her outfits turned out so nicely! ❤❤

      Thank you for your kind comments, but I am definitely not a hairdresser. I do have a skill of setting a dolls hair but for the most part my daughter does the combing out and styling. I did do this one though. This young lady got a new dress, and we made a short of it. Now she has her own dress and the dress she is wearing is on one of my Toni’s. Thank you for the support!🥰

      I found a doll the other day that has factory glue from her wig all over her ear. Do you have a way to get old glue off?

    • @DIYDollArtist
      @DIYDollArtist  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s a very good question but not an easy one to answer. The answer depends on so many different things. I would need to know several things , what is the dolls head made of, compo, hard plastic , Vinyl, bisque and so on. also I would need to know what the glue looked like to know what you are dealing with. I have removed glue but depending on all of the above it might be removable and it might not. I would be happy to help if I can but I would need more information. 🥰

      It was a hard plastic doll, similar to Toni, but unmarked. I ultimately didn't purchase her because I was unsure of how to fix the glue. I was only curious because I didn't know if it was even possible to remove glue from hard plastic. It was orange/rust colored. But I understand we probably don't have enough information. Thank you, much for responding to my question.

      Yes you can remove that glue but not with a chemical. I use a utility knife a try to scrape of as much as I can without make scratches in the plastic which is almost impossible. Then I use a very fine sand paper to refinish and take off the fine residue of glue that might be left. At first hard plastic dolls were painted on the out side then later the incorporated the skin color into the plastic. If the doll you are working on is a painted one some of the painted will be removed in the process. If you see pink you will know that happened. You can repaint her ear. It’s really hard to match the paint on these old dolls, but the good news is it’s going to be hidden by her hair and if her ear shows now and then it’s hard to notice that the paint doesn’t match perfectly. It’s better than seeing that glue that’s for sure. If you are doing this on a doll that you are going to sell matching the paint is much more important. Hope this helps. Thank you for your kind support!❤@@saracole5504

    You are so patient doing her hair and the results are fantastic! I really liked that you put the (hairless) doll in the bathtub with all the props, cute.

      I really enjoy restoring dolls and I really want them to be as repaired as my limited abilities allow. so I do pay attention to details and when they are done and if all goes well they really make me happy to see the results. about the toy bath tub, couldn’t help myself I’m just a kid at heart and always have been. I’m so happy you are too!😉❤️

    Sweet Sue came out so pretty. I love her and I love her dress, from ToniWear by Lois. She has such a sweet face. I just finished watching the video, actually the second time through. You did such a nice job. I would not have thought of softening the wig cap before sewing. I need to add a little hair to one of my dolls and that sounds like a good idea. I found some that matches pretty well. My Sweet Sue has that long hook to attach her head as well. Looking forward to whatever you choose to do next, whether it is shoes, or clothes, or one of Chantae's paintings, or something else you decide. Thank you for making these videos. They are very helpful and I enjoy watching them.

      sounds like you are one of our biggest fans😘. your support is priceless to us. thank you! If you are adding hair to a wig it doesn’t have to match perfectly because a lot of dolls came direct from the factory with two tone hair. we have one we haven’t worked on yet that we will sell one day. She came from the factory blonde with strawberry blonde streaks in her hair. you don’t see that very often. so don’t be concerned if the added hair matches perfectly. This week we are going to teach how to care for and to repair the vintage and antique oil cloth shoes. Hope it helps someone.😘

      @@DIYDollArtist, thanks! I think as long as I add some hair in more than one place it will look intentional. :) And perfect...I have an old pair of oil cloth shoes that could use some help. You are full of useful advice.

    She’s a really beautiful doll and was truly looked after by who ever opened her.Its so nice when you see a doll in this condition.Her hair looks beautiful now and she’s looking almost like new.I would be inclined to make her some white knickers to go under her clothing.I know when I had dolls as a child they always came with a pair..The blue ones under the nightdress sort of look odd.Even though the set is beautiful.They really made lovely clothes for dolls in those days in such pretty fabrics too 🥰

    • @DIYDollArtist
      @DIYDollArtist  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I so know how you feel about the knickers. when I was a child I had 2 dolls and so wanted clothes ,shoes and socks and panties for my dolls . I am 72 when all those nice things were out there but I didn’t know it. My mother wasn’t interested in my brother and myself. It wasn’t her fault she wasn’t the mothering kind. We buy the cheaper dolls that need the TLC. and run short of panties for so many to restore in the 14-15” size. We could only find that pair to fit her and still get the video out. She will eventually be dressed beautifully when we get the time to sew for her. You are like me I notice detail too and I agree with you!❤️This is a doll that will live here we aren’t selling her, she has her forever home 🥰

    Your Mom can wave her arms around when she talks. It won't bother us in the least. Let her show her personality without all the corrections!

      Thank you so much for your concern but I just want to let you know that there really isn’t anything to be concerned about. It’s hard to please everyone . We have already been criticized for talking with my hands or even talking at all. I have had two serious brain injuries and my wonderful gift from God my daughter helps me stay on track. You see I was in show business for a time and blocking the camera is not something that will help the people watching . It becomes a distraction and then what ever you are try to convey to your audience is interrupted. She knows me so well and loves me so much and understands I can get distracted easily since my injuries . She knows that if I’m going to do something I want to do it to the best of my ability. So she helps me do that. Not because she wants it that way it’s because she knows I want it that way. I hope you notice how gentle and kind she is with me. She has given her life to be there for me. I’m so grateful to have been given such a immeasurable gift. We don’t plan what we will say when we sit down before the camera. What you see is a relationship that is rare, loving and kind. She is the most selfless person I have ever known. I have always said if and when I ever grow up( I’m a kid at heart) I would want to be just like her.

    I have this Sweet Sue bridal doll and am 75 years old now. I got the doll from my grandmother when I was 5 years old. No one else wants it. Would you be interested in having this doll. I would love to know it's getting another life. Don't want money for it. Just want to see it get a good home. Please respond when you can. Thank you! Margie Stoneman

      I would be honored to give your doll a home. I had a similar situation with the Honey doll I did a video on a few months ago. The person was selling her grandmothers doll and wanted a good home for her. I did the video on her and now she is on my dresser in my room where I can see her with some of my other girls. You can send me an email to diydollartist@gmail.com and I can give you the information on sending her. It has always meant a lot to me to be able to restore someone’s childhood friend, and sometimes to give them a forever home where she will be loved.

      This is mom answering your comment. I’m sure you meant well on my behave but your perception on what you are seeing is not as you seem to think it is. I have 3 children this is the only one that has never in her whole life time ever shown me a lack of respect. The banter back and forth between us is how we are and it has always been done with the utmost respect and unending love. You see we were both born with the same genetic disorder. We are in pain 24hours a day. Being light hearted an making light of things help us cope with what we face everyday. Teasing and laughing about it all is all with the utmost love . I am the last person in this whole world that she world would ever hurt or belittle in any way. Actually she has never in her whole life ever done anything to hurt anyone, she only helps and gives to others. She never thinks about herself always others first.Her and l are 2 peas in a pod. I’m sorry it seemed to you that she was picking on me but that could never happen. I would like to thank you for caring and speaking up but are relationship is very special I’m blessed more than words can say to have her in my life. Im almost 73 And when I grow up I want to be just like her for her kindness is unlimited.❤
