Is it just me or do some of these guns look like they were designed by someone who has never used a gun before?

yeah pretty much. it isnt even a copyright issue as most pre 1980s guns have expired copyright.
Gun experience is irrelevant as just a few hours of research would be all they needed to accurately recreate most of these (which you can tell they couldn't even be bothered to do that). Obviously, it would help, but it isn't necessary.

Crazy how it took the base game, 3 DLC, and 6 years worth of creation club content to give this game a still disappointing arsenal. Fallout 76, fallout 3, ESPECIALLY new Vegas did their weapons soooooo much better. (76 because they’re still adding weapons each update, fixed the lever action rifle, and have true uniques)

Well, Godd Howard and his minions didn’t make the nail gun though, and it doesn’t have custom animations for the PlayStation guide lines because of who gives a shit, we blame it on Godd Howard

the animations are fine, it's a smooth jank unlike the shaky jank that 3 and nv have. It's just the disgusting receivers on most of the guns.

@@user-bv1gq8jj6b it looks, but PSL just like RPK but sniper. The operation of the gas engine in the SVD is based on the short stroke of the pusher rod, which directly pushes the bolt carrier with the gate. For a better understanding, a similar mechanism is used in HK416.
Bethesda really does need to hire developers that understand how to properly animate weapon and weapon animations.

I’m sure most of if not all of the bethesda developers and animators have not shot a gun nor understand the mechanics behind them to properly animate or make much cooler realistic ones in the Fallout games.

I feel like people don’t understand how old this game is, for the time these weren’t even bad animations, (they still aren’t imo) most people just seem to only want MW animations in games, even predating that

most of the weapon on this fallout had heavy and kinda look like long barrel design but player and npc still able to steady their hand when aiming, by just grabbing the weapon grip rather than left hand grab the under rail. especially the pipe gun and institute gun. no wonder everyone modding the animation

Its crazy that guns that shouldnt have recoil, have recoil, like the laser gun and water/acid guns, recoil only exist when youre firing projectiles
Oddities/inaccuracies that the subtitles didn’t spot:
No non-empty reloads
The “classic 10mm” looks nothing like the FO3 10mm. Unless it’s based on one of the non-Bethesda games. (Apparently it is based on a non-Bethesda game)
The nail gun makes no sense.
I can’t prove or disprove if the Deliverer uses its magazine release. And it ejects two casings.
The .44 revolver always cocks its hammer and the player uses the force to reload it without a speed loader. And doesn’t use its cylinder release. And it lacks a firing pin.
The pipe revolver correctly shows the rounds it has stuck. I’m legitimately surprised. But, putting a suppressor on most revolvers is impossible.
The flare gun doesn’t press the action release.
The thirst zapper shoots water despite being filled with Nuka-Cola. And its Nuka-Cola bottle is mostly untextured and has the same colour regardless of ammunition type.
The Thompson incorrectly guides its charging handle forward (this applies to a lot of weapons, but means the Thompson is also incorrectly closed-bolt). The M1A1 doesn’t accept drum magazines. The animation doesn’t use its magazine release.
The combat rifle should be considered an SMG.
The Volksturmgewehr rocks in its magazine and doesn’t use its magazine release. Surprisingly, FO4 is one of the few games to correctly have semi-auto as its base firing mode. Probably an accident.
The assault rifle ejects straight up, and never pulls back a charging handle of any kind.
The pipe weapons were literally designed to look like someone who knows nothing about firearms designed them.
The lever-action doesn’t have a bullet counted reload mechanic.
The extended magazine of the hunting rifle is based on the Gewehr-98’s non-removable trench magazine.
The prototype Gauss rifle is reloaded by cranking it instead of replacing its fusion cells.
The double barrel doesn’t use its release lever.
The combat shotgun doesn’t have the bolt pull-back length to chamber a shell. And lacks a rear sight.
The minigun incorrectly has to spin up, lacks a power source, has a fictional feeding system, and uses a fictional caliber.
The side-loaded harpoon launcher is a dumb idea.
The saw blade launcher is just a reskinned Gauss rifle.
You can suppress the grenade launcher… for some reason.
A break-action rocket launcher would just reduce the possible size of the projectile, reducing effectiveness. The triple “barrel” and quad barrel work on pure magic.
Why are this institute’s weapons so bulky if they’re supposed to be the most advanced faction in-game?
The Tesla cannon doesn’t have a reload animation.
(Most weapons are heavily fictionalized, so I probably missed a few)
The classic 10mm is based on the colt 6520 from fallout 1 and 2
Another one: why would you suppress a grenade launcher? The explosion already gives you away, so there is no point to silencing it.

Bethesda didn’t allow the modders for the new weapons to use custom animations for the PlayStation guidelines, and the game is nearly 10 years old, some people need to know that not having MW style animations doesn’t make the animations bad, there are many people who think that the base animations look great, myself included

@@Aguy522 Not every game needs MW2019 animation quality. but a AAA title like fallout 4 shouldn’t be half baking such basic things as weapon animations. The game should at least have standards for 2015 but no it doesn’t. Farcry 3 released in 2012 and still has better animations. black ops 2 also came out in 2012 and the animations in that game were leagues ahead of fallout 4. In my opinion even the classic doom animations are more aesthetically pleasing, although a lot more simple and cheap on a technical level. for a game with a supposed budget of 150 million dollars (Blacks ops 2 only had around an estimated 30 million dollar budget by the way) this quality is not only unacceptable, but flat out lazy.
If you like it, good for you. I’m glad you could find enjoyment in something I couldn’t. But don’t act like people are idiots for disliking it.
@ussrtaxes8986 in the base game, only 4 guns share animations, the laser gun, institute laser, combat rifle and shotgun, if the PlayStation guidelines didn’t exist, we would have custom animations for the CC weapons.
Where do you find the atomizer as well as a lot of the other weapons? I’ve not found a lot of them

Technically no there’s better versions of the anti material rifle with reload animations and of far better quality. The update just means you get to have a crappy version of the anti material rifle also

@@dmitriblyat8237 the anti material is big heavy weapon that does lots of damage, it’s huge and weighty but Bethesda’s negligence means you get a weapon that feels like all the other weapons, with reload animations from the much lighter hunting rifle and sounds from what I can only assume are a pea shooter

A lot of y'all clearly don't remember 3/NV's animations. These aren't great, but compared to something like the Combat Shotgun from Fallout 3, it's no contest.
Fallout 3's animations were honestly top tier. Same with New Vegas. Sounds weird but I wish they added gun jamming into the newer games. It was a nice feature

The Bethesda that created Fallout 4 was FAR more wealthy than the Bethesda that created Fallout 3. There's no excuse for Bethesda to cheap out on janky reused animations in Fo4 when they made so much money off Skyrim a few years beforehand. Many of these animations were straight up still being reused in Fo76 which came out like 5 years later even
the only good looking weapons are the following:
weapon designs returning from previous games
the actual real life weapons in the game (not the weird hybrid stuff, the stuff that is relatively unchanged).
the alien weapons
the assaultron head is pretty cool also, and the institute weapons being derpy looking makes some sense, they just should actually be decent.
weapons animations from nightfire in 2002 looks better .. 🤷♂

No wonder I installed so many weapons mods. There was no variety in the base game. Even with DLC. Fo76 tickles the gun nut part od my brain cuz of how many guns there are.

What makes me laugh the most is the wretched attempts of some CC creations to convey the “weight” of a weapon, such as the anti-material rifle. Character, like a dumb, makes all movements VERY slowly.
