For those who saying that feeding fish a mosquito larva is not a good idea, let me tell you guys that those fish are Gambusia fish that feeds of mosquitoes larva.
Yes the larvae is good for them but putting them in different water without acclimatising them isn’t not to mention any number of other health implications from the soil or whatever, I’m no expert but that seems obvious
Yes that’s a great way to take care of the larvae, I’m a mosquito tech, and we actually use mosquito fish along with other chemicals to control breeding in our county
I worked so hard to scape my aquarium and forgot the water movement so mosquito larvae came. My anger overtook me and killed it. Now it is hard to find, making it hard to clean😭 Edit: Nvm they ate it🥲
@@ducksongfans less them living there more that it kinda seems like a fungus/shock/parasite/ or disease risk. Im not a specialist or anything ofc so I could very well be wrong, just voicing my worry
Friendly tip: One teaspoon of water can breed 100 mosquitos. So check your yard and anything that holds water ESPECIALLY old tires. You need to empty them out because if you have a mosquito problem. Chances are they are breeding in some old bucket or tire and alot of species stay close to home. IE your yard. Also. Minnows are your best friends against mosquitos. If you can capture a bunch of minnows then you can release them into ponds and other things that hold water all year around. Minnows eat mosquito larva. Remember that.
The only reason why this isn’t commercialized is because there no profits to be made. Why would I sell a customer a $1 long lasting solution when I could charge $10 for some solution that lasts 7-30 days? That’s $ right there and in this day and age it’s profits over people which is why we’re spiraling into a 3rd world country from control and lack of innovation.
i remember the time when i was little i saw them in my inflatable pool and i thought they were tadpoles. I has a mental breakdown when my mom said she killed them 😂
The same thing happened to my plants few years ago. I plopped my 5 goldfish in there. I also plopped in my betta. In just an hour, the millions of larvae was decreased to single digit population
An hour...? Is your betta acoustic? A typical betta can clear a whole vase worth of larvae is under 5 minutes. For live prey, they literally eat until their stomach tears if allowed to.
Thanks for the video I was searching for it. There is mosquito larva in my Lotus Pond too. I was unable to find what insect is this. I found your video. Thanks
I'm not sure if that's a good idea. The change in temperature and water chemistry might shock the fish? Better to just dump the larvae in their home tank?
Agreed, tho for me the larvae might be a risk for health as well if theyre carrying something. He might have been able to pull off some sort of acclimation off camera to avoid the shock (I am not a fish specialist so hopefully im not spounting nonsence)
In my country we did that for ages. One time I put some fish in the plant to eat the larvae but come back to find all the larvae and the fish gone, turns out the bird eat my fish😂😂
The eggs are on the plant stem. Refilling the water after dumping it will just allow the next generation to hatch the very next day. Unless you're advising to dump every single day, then I have nothing to say I guess.
