    Welcome back guys, and welcome to any new faces. Here I am on another brick cleaning job using the awesome Ibix Trilogy 28.
    This house is undergoing a load of restoration, with the brick cleaning being a small part of it. Hope you enjoy my contribution to that process.
    Thanks for watching, and don't forget if you like the video to hit that like and subscribe button for more satisfying content. Big thanks, Nick 😍

    So I need to address something that keeps coming up, that in hindsight, I wish I had included and explained in the video. WHY did I start at the bottom and work my way up, instead of starting at the top?? So there's a couple of reasons that I choose to do it this way.
    1. When you're working on a 2 storey building, if you start at the top when wet media blasting, by the time you get to the bottom there's a big pile of blast media to get through to get to the last few rows of bricks, fighting through that is time consuming and makes an even bigger, unnecessary mess, especially when it splashes back at you, all over your clothes, down your boots and covers your face mask - not nice.
    2. Again when starting from the top, by the time you get 5-6 feet down the wall the blast media and grime you're removing from the wall starts to build up into a gloopy slop that sticks to the wall, getting in your way, and obstructing your view of the working area. Working from the bottom up, gives you a completely clear view of the next row above where you're working.
    There also seems to be a misconception that the bricks are clean once i've gone over them, they're not, yes the carbon staining has been removed, but there is loads of blast media all over the bricks that can't be removed by spraying/rinsing it with yet more water full of blast media from the nozzle i'm using, the nozzle i'm using is completely ineffective at rinsing down, so regardless of working up, down, left, right or vice versa, the bricks have to be gently pressure washed down at the end, or they will still look filthy. Sorry for the long explanation, but I felt I had to explain this in detail to clear this up. Cheers, Nick 🙂

      I think they may be confusing this clean with the one you did 3 years ago "Cleaning Cambridge White Bricks", but there you used the Ibix Trilogy 28. Not the same. Thanks for the explanation!!! Have a great week, Nick. 😉

      Thanks so much for the easy to understand explanation. Makes total sense.
      By the way I should have asked you earlier…did you clean the red brick too? It seems like you stopped wherever the beige/yellow bricks met the red ones. Thanks. Love your work.

      @PrestigeExternalCleaning  21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@brotoubrotou3164 thanks mate, yes I did, it’s just I would clean them in a section at a time, then move onto the cream ones, because the red ones were softer, so I I’d move the gun further away while I cleaned them so there wasn’t so much pressure on them 👍

Because he was the last child of 10 and my own father was born when his father was 49 we have such a close connection in 2 generations only rather than the usual 4 back to those days that I feel I know so much about that time in England. Nice work... glad the owners did not just render or paint the building... years ago, when I visited the UK, and admired all the classic architecture in London, all the sandstone and marble places, the amount of staining and grime from the buses, taxis and atmosphere over the many decades was an eye opener for me... it adds character I suppose, but I wonder what they looked like in their prime... the churches, the government buildings, the terraces and houses in the posh areas... It took the stonemasons decades to build them, I wonder what it would take to clean them, even with a huge crew of experts...?

    So you are running air driven wet sand blasting?
    I assume that the air and the media feed are inside the outer hose.
    This would be much gentler than high pressure water driven wet sand blasting.
    .
    i'm interested in what media you are using.
    .
    i do quite a bit of in cabinet dry blasting and use a variety of media ranging from gatnet to bicarb soda.
    .
    In my high pressure blaster i use ordinary dry sifted sand, because it is wet and single trip blasting.
    A lot of guys here use crushed glass for single trip blasting. It's cheap and comes in medium and fine grades.
    The fine grade is similar to glass bead, but cuts more agressivly.
    In a recurculating application glass breaks down pretty fast, but in single trip it does not matter.

    Awesome. Is there a specifc reason to go from bottom to top rather than top to bottom?

    • @PrestigeExternalCleaning
      @PrestigeExternalCleaning  23 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      Yes indeed, if you start at the top, by the time you reach the bottom, there’s a build up of blast media at the base, so can make hard to blast the last few rows, it also makes a hell of a mess splashing back at you. You also don’t have to fight through all the gunk running down the walls, which makes things quicker and easier 👍

      @@PrestigeExternalCleaning looks interesting, I spent years blasting & coating offshore. Definitely something I could see me doing and plenty job satisfaction.

    Hi Nick sorry I am a bit late you caught me watching Doctor Who related stuff 😂😂
    Wow what a difference that made to the front of the house.
    I do have one question that I may have missed the answer too so sorry if I did but I noticed you only cleaned the white/yellow bricks and not the red just curious as to why?
    Hope you are all well and your day did improve that day 😂
    Hugs to you all 🤗🤗
    Sorry going back to Doctor Who now (only for you did I interrupt it 😂).

    Is there a reason why you don’t begin at the top so when all the grime is dripping down as you go lower you rinse off the mess as you go? Curious
    Edit: Oops. Forgot to say WOW beautiful result

      Hi mate, many thanks. Yeah I should have put why in the video, so instead i've just written a long explanation and pinned it as a comment at the top of the comments. 👍

    A question for you about media blasting, would CO2 blasting be more effective or is there mitigating circumstances that it would damage the bricks more? The reason I ask is I use it to clean the bottom of cars and there is a lot of tar and oil that just falls off with CO2 blasting.

    • @PrestigeExternalCleaning
      @PrestigeExternalCleaning  13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      CO2, or dry ice blasting as we call it here, would be an excellent option, I know a company that does it, as no messy blast media to clean up. Unfortunately don't have that equipment though, so have to work with what I have. Laser cleaning would also be another excellent option, something I will probably invest in, in the future 👍

    Great work as usual Nick, I want to do this to my house. Have you rented the blaster or u own if?
    If rented where do you go for such an item? I can’t see anywhere near me where I can rent one from.
