- I've been asked what is the best yarn to use with knitting looms. My answer is that it depends on the design, the look and function of your desired project.
In other words, ALL yarns work and are the best for loom knitting, if it's going to help you create what you want to create.
In this case (The Higby Lace Poncho Pattern), light weight yarn on a large gauge loom was perfect.

what would you call a light weight yarn. i always think of cotton when i think of light weight Thanks
Hi, cotton is the fiber not the weight. In the US our weight is in numbers. Light weight- for me is anything #3 or under.
Is this with a small gauge loom?
No - it's a 5/8 large gauge loom.
