    Super awesome video. Thank you for sharing the interesting history that I did not know about. I still wear my GW5000 daily from when I bought it new like over 10 years ago. It still looks amazing and works perfect, which makes it extremely hard to justify an "upgrade" to this new model. The fact they changed so little is a testament to how perfect it is.

      Thanks for watching! These watches are built to last a lifetime. I look at it both ways, they made some subtle changes on an already great watch to address a few complaints. It's a testament to the company that they were willing to listen. I'll be doing a video soon on their refurb service on my 5600C.

    So great to see this upgraded module, 3495. I wasn't too keen about the 3195 module as it had hardly any improvements over the GW-5610. I really appreciate seeing time FINALLY displayed on the STW and CDT screens. But... they missed an opportunity here. If the STW or CDT is active and you go back to the main screen, you should see some indicator flashing to let you know that either timer is active.

    • @DougFNJ
      @DougFNJ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I bought the prior version a couple months ago and I’m quite happy with it; yes, it’s nice to see the time displayed in more of the modes, but that and the light definitely aren’t enough to justify another purchase of a relatively expensive g-shock square for ME, BUT it’s great for people who haven’t gotten one yet! I do like the green luminescence on the old version though! It comes across as retro looking to me! Great video.

    • @DougFNJ
      @DougFNJ  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The funny thing when I see comments about the original 5000 and retro backlight is this LED backlight is more of an older retro. my old 5600C has what appears to be an old mini flashlight bulb on the left side lol

    There are two things that the basic DW-5600E-1V is best at: The alarm that can be set for the month/day, and the indicator light that can be set for the alarm. None of the Solar G-Shocks know these two things, I don't even understand the designers, why they didn't include them...

      Thanks Andrea! That MTGB2000 is next level compared to the original MTG models. Casio hit it out of the ballpark on that one, did a review on that too, I typically like to make sure a square is in the comparisons for understanding the size differences.

    hello.
    I saw your left thumb while watching the video.
    I had a similar experience.
    I was treated by a dermatology professor at the university hospital, and he said that a kind of tumor was located behind the nail and prevented the nail from growing, causing white and brown lines to appear. It's not a serious disease, but I had to have it removed for the nail to grow normally, so I had surgery.
    So, I removed the causative tumor with a simple surgery, and my nails are growing normally.
    I'm not a doctor, so I can't judge the condition of the thumb in the video hastily. However, it caught my eye and I can't just skip it, so I'm giving you some advice.
    I have been to several dermatology clinics, but most doctors do not understand the name of this nail disease. i recommend that you take this into consideration and go to a hospital that can properly diagnose you.

    • @DougFNJ
      @DougFNJ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your concern, I really do appreciate it. Years ago when I was a kid, a car door slammed on it. I had been to a dermatologist for an unrelated issue but asked about it, she said it was likely scar tissue below the nail from that injury. Also brought it up on a recent checkup as it’s been mentioned before from others as well as something to possibly be concerned about, she also confirmed it was likely scar tissue from that injury.
      Seriously appreciate the concern from people, it really is nice to see people care. The only pain about it is if it gets too long it splits out a bit, so I stay on top of keeping it short enough.

      @@smert_blizko Ahh sorry, very late over here, you made sense, my brain didn't. Materials are the main differences, module should be the same.

    I just received my gw5000u! How do you remember all these functions? I feel a bit overwhelmed

      Thanks for watching Corrado. Ive had so many g-shocks, they are all very familiar. I read the instructions, and just play around with the functions until I am comfortable with it.
