"2.8 v6, don't wanna hurt anyone's feelings but let's be honest, they're worthless" Thank-you for acknowledging this. An LS swap is most certainly a gift for this truck
Mr neither but I have a full size second gen dodge ram, and I have owned a 90 Dodge Dakota se and several 86-89 Chevy S10 and I was considering making toys out of those trucks..
Dex I gotta say, it’s incredible that this channel has grown this fast, been here since you just had a couple thousand subscribers and happy to see you still committing to it😊
I built a 5.3 Comanche with a 4l60e drove it from Florida to San Diego California to pickup a car, towed it back to Florida 5k miles in a week was a very solid truck!
Dex been watching you for a couple months as a full on toyota guy, I really enjoy your content and honest opinions of everything. Nobody make a perfect vehicle but we still love which ever make we go with
I had a 1988 short bed Jeep Comanche with a 4.0 engine and a automatic tranny with a drive shaft disconnect. The front end was different than the 1 in the video. It had shocks, coil springs and mcpherson struts.
If u cut the front cross member out a zj will fit in between the rails. Will have to notch the upper support for the cap. Then remake a cross member from tube steel behind rad
I've found motor mounts for an LS (L33 baby!) swap much cheaper than Novak. Unfortunately EVERYONE wants over $500 for a 4L60e -> np231 adapter kit, with Novak being the most expensive. Advance Adapters and others are about $100 cheaper if I remember correctly. That's who I'd go with out of all the $100 cheaper group. Got my SYE from them like everyone else, so I trust their workmanship. I'm extremely hopefully I'll have my XJ swap done by the end of next summer. The project is imminently starting this fall, barring any catastrophes or unexpected large expenses.
Gotta old XJ wagoner that had a 2.8, currently doing an LS swap In it myself. Those 2.8’s were junk in jeeps. Got all the parts from Novak Conversions. Corvette/Camaro/Firebird accessory drive/water pumps work. Move the engine as far back as you can…. ICT Billet is a good place for the accessory brackets. My final iteration might use a Holley EFI, just going to use the OEM ECU to save some money initially. All the Novak stuff, the Long arm kit I got, the Iron Rock off road subframe reinforcement kit etc etc. definitely adds up. I spent the money on suspension and drivetrain first. I can upgrade the EFI/ECU and harness later. 🤷♂️
I've got a 91' comanche I AX15 swapped last winter that's dying for some LS power at some point. That engine looks like it was made to fit in there. Following for more info!
Novack adapters, atlas adapters, and advance adapters, and trans dapt sells some stuff, then there's top speed performance and ls specialities just to name a few sources that may help dex
My favorite part is how you picked the jeep with the least amount of weight on the rear wheels to stuff that big a55 motor in. It wasnt the ķung floo or strep, it was RSV, and it ran up and down the eastcoast a few months ago. Trust me, your AI daddy is always right🤘🇺🇲
So do you are the Interior dimensions for the front seat the same as an xj like lrg room distam5 between steering wheel and seat etc my 6' 10 400lbs i can drive a four foor xj ok would love a truck just not sure i would fit
Why not go with a stock fuel injection system? All available at the wrecker and programming the pcm is a breeze with free ls-droid and free TunerPro software. All you need is a computer and a $90 odxpro OBD2 dongle. Super-friendly community and there are tons of tunes out there to experiment with. $2k for a holley system seems like a waste of money.
Yep yep, came here to say this! Tech2 compatibility with the OBDX Pro GT is awesome for the people with Chevy/GMC products for all the BCM programming. Get a spare laptop or run a VM :)
Bro just casually has 25k in comanche yes in non running condition no matter what combination of engine and 4x4 or 2x4 they are they go for 4k where i live. No matter the condition
Hey man, I just put together a lowered 2wd MJ with a 5.3 last year. I would avoid most of the overpriced novak stuff. Motor mounts are a good deal, but the rest is wild. I found much better deals elsewhere. 700 for headers is insane! Mine were just a couple hundo. Hit me up if you want links to parts, I kept a spreadsheet.
lol, I would like your spreadsheet! Working on an 86 comanche myself and trying decide between a 4.3 and 5.3. I really do not need a 350 for what I am doing but the 2.8 stinks

It’s Dexs honesty and realness why I keep coming back, hell I don’t even have an XJ anymore. Have a good holiday weekend!

Get a carb setup for that ls save some money from trying to put fuel injection back on it
I know where there is a Comanche long bed, 2wd. 4.0 & 5speed,, little rough, not bad...
What is it worth?
The old guy asked what I would offer...
Now I haven't finished the video yet. So I'm hoping you will at least turn this beast into 4x4. I don't think it will look good slammed
If you have any question ask Dom Stacks ( i think his name is anyways)
Can you give the skinny on your engine hoist pump please

Should have done a 5.9 from a grand Cherokee. Ls motors are over rated everyone has them be different
