Sit on that bucket man! You're an inspiration to thousands of us and we love to hear your stories. Personally I wouldn't like your channel so much without the extra commentary about your history and WHY you know what you know - because you've seen a lot of ****! Final word of advice: try not to be so hard on yourself :)
When Dex tells a story, he tells 10 more, but thats a story for another time! Just messin with ya, love the channel. Just bought my first XJ ($1550/210k miles/stock/elec problems) but ive had a couple zjs. Jeeps are a headache but i love them.
I'm pretty sure I can speak for all of us who watch your channel that we enjoy all of your content especially storie time with dex. Honestly one of my favorite TH-cam channels I have 3 XJ and 1 wj all are modified some way more then others. I look forward to any video you put out. Thank you again for starting a TH-cam channel and sharing all of your knowledge with us. I will continue to be a supporter of your channel and buying your merchandise so you can continue to make videos. Again thank you for signing the one of one hate I bought from you. God bless keep up the good work.
When we were kids ,yuuup so many stories to tell lol. I like the stories Dex if you feel like telling them then go for it. It shows how you've built your character. Thanks for the video bro.
You could do a podcast kinda thing if you wanted to do the sitting on a bucket and talking thing more, but either way we appreciate you sharing the knowledge you have man
Dex, you had an awesome childhood! Sweet!! My first (mine) ride was an 88 Toyota with a 4” lift. Really nice truck. Blew head gasket, fixed it, blew again, paid to get it fixed, threw a rod, sold it. Got a 95 yj in 2005 and still have it today. That’s my picture on here.
Nice to know there's other people out here who love these things as much as I do I've owned 13 of them poor man's rock crawler we ride the he'll out of them down here Alabama 💪
2 XJs sitting in my back yard and a J10 pickup being restored. I really enjoyed your story telling. Purchased two XJs at a auction of a cold windy day with few bidders. 1 with the 4 cy sold to parents of a girl who loved Jeeps and the other one my son drove for a long time before he sold it. He now owns a WJ with the 4.0 L. My granddaughter has a Wrangler with a manual transmission that she daily drives.
Best video yet. Most of us are somewhere between you when you got your first one and your knowledge now. You forgot what you didn't know so don't forget we don't know shit.
just got my first xj almost 2 years ago. 91 laredo, 4.0 4wd, colorado red as well. was owned by some old man who eventually passed away and it sat for years. i bought it for 1500 at 125k miles. love it and will drive it till the body just can't go anymore. i learn so much from you, thanks for everything you do
Watched this after your longer personal story. Only got into watching jeep stuff since my youngest got into jeeps. But I can honestly say, I think your parents knew what they were doing. We basically did something similar. Jeep keeps breaking or 'needing' mods, so it's keeping him busy - best investment ever.
Definitely a cool story, sounds like you had a lot of fun when you were younger if you wanted to do more story videos Im sure more people would like them as well but its your channel nd whatever you post Its gonna be worth watching
that gave me throgh back wheeling with my my family we where a little crazy lol i had a 87 short bed 150 and my stsres had the last generation jeep wranglers with leaf springs it was a blast its awesome to here your stories dex keep em coming brotha man
Got my ex-fleet, 96XJ Stone white In may of ‘01 w/112K miles before taking it to Prudhoe Bay Alaska from Indiana, with lots of side trips in between that summer. It now has 320,000 miles with original engine & drivetrain. It’s a beast 🏆
Hey Dex love your stuff man. keep tellin stories about your old jeeps. i still have my first cherokee and maybe you can answer a question for me. mine is a 4 door 94 sport 4.0 ho with 5 speed manual...I've been told that the 4 door with 5 speed is rare. Is that true? I'm still fixin her up, always a project in progress...just wonderin what i've got. if anything. also had this one for 20 years...thanx
I bought a gently used '96 XJ that was in the rare factory magenta color from its original owner in November 2003. I drove that thing daily, and as the years piled up, I vowed that I'd give it a decent retirement if I could get 20 years of use from it. November 2023 came very quickly, and I was reluctant to let it go, so I held on another two months until January 2024, when I sold it to a coworker. I missed the thing dearly (who wouldn't after 20 years of daily driving), so I've since purchased a nice 1997 XJ in white to replace it as my commuter.
Great stuff! Love the history behind that jeep! Thanks for sharing! Love those XJ’s. Looking for one for my 16 year old son, possibly a standard😊Love those!🤘
This is call story dude. Reminds me of my younger years with my jeep and all the stupid crap I did. In fact it gives me inspiration to keep my old jeep since I've been on t eh fence about selling it for a few years now. I'm glad I kept it and I'm glad I saw this video
Dex, you and I have a lot in common when it comes to being poor and the way we were raised. I remember being 15 16 17 years old and all my friends would off-road. We too would do Creek crossings mud riding. And we would do hide and go seek with our four-wheel drives at night using CB radios. All of us have stories so keep telling them so that the younger generation can enjoy the simple things. Love what you do love what you build!
Im 32 now My forst car was a 93 4.0 5sp ZJ man i wish i kept it i had zero clue how rare they were and what i had. It ended up becoming a parts jeep for my other builds til it was a rotted shell laying in the yard
Back in the late 90s I had a system that I had $500 in with all brand new ample audio speakers and amp. 12’ svc x2 and a a226 520 watt amp with a blaupunkt CD player. All that was in a 92 g20 Chevy van. I also have all ample mid range stuff to but that was the cleanest and hardest hitting system. I won a trophy from it and also took it to a db contest and got 141 db reading off $500. The only people louder than mine were the people that had several k on theirs.
Your stories are fun because you show how you learned and the goofy mistakes you made learning. i'm 53 years old. I've had a few 4wd rigs, but I'm having the most fun building and learning to fabri-cobble my 97 XJ together. I've done most things about as "wrong as possible," because I'm pretty sure I can make it work. I end up changing things up and trying again. I'm sure i've wasted money over buying proven parts, but I'm having fun learning.
Brother don't ever change the way you explain stuff or tell your experiences. I understand what ya say and how ya think and it's awesome. Keep being you man.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE STORYTIME with Uncle Dex.... keep it up man... love hearing the old stories... we did a lot of dumb stuff like this when I was growing up.
Hey thanks for this man. Makes me think back to when i was 18 with my first vehicle that i still own and drive till this day! 93 jeep xj country, good ol green and tan with wood grain. my mom and dad bought it brand new in 92 and i ended up buying it at 18 when i need to be able to get to work! my older brother bought my moms previous 89 jeep xj laredo red and grey and we both modified them and are constantly changing them and now entering into our 30's we are sitting back wondering, what, huh, and why haha, my mom passed away a couple years ago and we decided we are never going to part ways with them! Anyways i appreciate this video it brought back alot of memories of my own! and i got a huge kick out of hearing yours!
Dex , Story's are Great and that's one I'll watch again just for the content !!! Those tractor links we used them in the same way when I was younger too !! I love the story tellin ,if yer good with it, Keep um comin I'm not goin anywhere !!!
I was an international scout fanatic ,bought a 65 and v8 swapped it. When I was 15 paid 400 for it now you can't touch a junk one for 5000, love your channel working on a free xj 99 today
Enjoyed every second of that. Makes me feel like I been there. I feel like we have so much in common. With the not having money but wanting to make it happen either way. So meany times I’ve had to make my own stuff and make stuff work that shouldn’t work for my Jeep just to get me by. Love the story and love hearing how it all started. You definitely Learned a lot w step of the way and that’s a fine example of not giving up on something you love. Keep it up Dex you’re doing a great job at everything. The videos are only getting better. PS: thank you for the quick shipping on the intake. Thing was in waaay better shape then expected and way cleaner then mine currently on the Jeep. Can’t wait to install it and the new TB and injectors.

My first car was my 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 limited. I bought during cash for clunkers. Had it for like 15 years now. The part about the fish in your buddy’s lap made me laugh
Nice story Dex, I guess some of these mixed in with off-road or build how to's is about what we expect from you. Keep it up!
This is call story dude. Reminds me of my younger years with my jeep and all the stupid crap I did. In fact it gives me inspiration to keep my old jeep since I've been on t eh fence about selling it for a few years now. I'm glad I kept it and I'm glad I saw this video
Video .... Appoved !
All your videos are Good Stuff !
Dont let anyone tell different, Its good to be proud of yourself, you grew up just like i did! The right way lol im 34
Dex DO NOT SCRIPT YOUR VIDEOS! At least not all of them. The unscripted video is part of your appeal brother. You're fun to watch!

Great video you can tell a story a week sitting on a bucket if you do another hands on about Jeeps for 2 videos a week just don't stop showing and sharing your knowledge about Jeeps that got you the following you have
Love a good story, keep em comin.
I've got a couple xj dana 44s in my stash one open diff and one trac lock. I still have my first xj it's had a few different stages but this last refresh it's real nice. I've had a bunch of xj's definitely not as many as you im guessing around 20 or so but for whatever reason my favorite ones are 1992 or 91 and 92 So I've mostly stuck to the 91-95 and more specificly the 91-92 but there's stuff from other years I like more that I switch around. I'm really picky with little details. I've been going through xj's at my local wrecking yards for years but recently they've been having less xj's so I started buying some to keep as parts rigs and future projects. I really like making them have nice interiors so I always snag clean interior pieces that I like. One thing I've been looking for is a factory black early interior to snag the dash and center console and interior plastics from if nice but they are incredibly rare I've only seen one renix era Cherokee with factory black interior I've seen plenty of maroon and blue tan and of course gray but the black is super hard to find I really want the black dash and bottom dash trim and other black pieces I'm not into painting interior parts. It's gonna be super hard to find good not cracked or faded pieces though.
Nice jeep. I love my jeep xj's I had a bunch of them already. I'm down to only 2 now. My 93 sport high output and my 91 sport high output police one. At least that's what stetler dodge told me when they did the Vin to make me a master key.the 93 is sky jacker 6 in. Lift 34 in super stampers. And 91 is 8.5 in sky jacker with 36 in stampers which the 91 I swapped out the Dana 35 to the Chrysler rear and I also swapped out the drum breaks in the rear for the disc breaks . I love building jeeps and my own bumpers fenders so fourth. I'm an auto mechanic myself certified welder and any chance I get to build something I go to it lol. Love your videos keep them coming.
i really really enjoyed this bigtime !, i have a 91 xj all stock
I enjoyed the Dex Jeep adventures, reminds me of the Jeeps I built with my son, keep those stories coming. We'll keep watching!
My first car was my 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 limited. I bought during cash for clunkers. Had it for like 15 years now. I always wanted a Jeep i wanted the YJ macgyver Jeep but i found those things to be too tiny.. my mom had a 98 Grand cherokee and i grew up with it. So i got a 98.
I got it because of its interior and silver paint and engine sound.
Didnt know till a year later it was a 5.9 limited. 15 years later i have a 90 Grand Wagoneer and a 76 Jeep j10.
3 Jeeps plus my moms is more than enough maintenance for me. But if i ever got another i woulf probably get hoopti that got good gas mileage lol. Have three 360 v8s sucks for gas
Happy birthday mate. Hope it was a good day.
Well I thought this was a good idea I kind of wanted to know for a while where and how you started and I'm definitely gonna be waiting eagerly to see the electric to crank window conversion because I have a 1989 Tudor that's got power everything and I can never get the windows to wanna go very fast when it's cold out and the summer they work fine but that's when I'm using the air conditioning so i just leave them up(SO-CAL) but in the cooler months when wheelin they might go up and down 20 times a day.
I loved this story time
You keep doing you man. great video(s)!
whats crazy is for a long time those wj and zjs were going for around 1k while pretty mint
Vouch for how amazing it drives lol
