I'm a marine science graduate, and I'd like to add one snippet of information to this great video; Red light travels poorly through water and as such most (not all but most) fish have quite poor red vision and lack the cells to detect red colours well. Especially in deeper waters, since the more water the daylight travels through, the more red light gets filtered out by the water. This means that to many fishes eyes red lures do not appear as vibrant as they do for us humans, but appear much darker. Therefore if you're wondering why you should use a red lure, remember that it will be much darker to them and so they're probably best used in lower light levels like you described for other dark coloured lures. I've heard anglers asking what bait fish are they trying to mimic with red lures, but they don't appear red to most marine predators. Incidentally this is why you should ideally use red lights when fishing at night, because the fish have a much lower detection level of this colour of head-lamp when it shines on the water, thus helping you be a bit more stealthy. I hope this is useful info for you guys.

@@Anglingaddict75 Equally, thank you to you Wayne... for stimulating my interest again... My father died two years ago and I used to fish with him or talk enthusiastically with him about my solo sessions. Since his death I lost my mojo, and haven't been out with a rod and hook since. I just watched this video and you got my taste for it going again. I'm going out to fish in his memory this week and it's thanks to your enthusiasm and obvious love of the sport in this video. Keep doing what you do and stay cool! 😎🎣

@WolfricLupus I'm sorry to hear of your loss.
I'm glad this video could be that inspiration for you and bring some of that mojo back.
If your ever stuck for conversation on anything fishy, I'm all ears and eyes!
      Tight lines dude!

Very interesting Wayne, definitely something else to think about. Match the hatch is probably the most important part 💪🎣🐟

Great info, Wayne,I'm going technical this year,I have spreadsheets for different lures and also different venues to record and build up data for myself.

@Kernow-Bass glad you found it useful.
It's always a good idea to keep track of the what, when, why and where. Well done.

Definitely right with colours i do like blue in the sunny weather fished high, pink is good in brown water, night time brown or gold.and when there spawning like now fish big if you see them feeding on mullet, i just had 13lb 10z on 150cm trolled last week pb bass on lure. This time of year start 80cm if that dont work go bigger i find works.tightlnes for 2025 amigo 😎🦈

@ forsure that blue high up in sun works everywhere I’ve fished for bass in Europe, yes mate on boat trolled on 150cm minnow ,was really fat hen fish full of spawn, I caught it in costa Blanca, the locals told me they haven’t seen one that size here in 25 years hopefully the big bass are coming back here now? Just been getting alot of barracuda the last few days best about 9lb ok fish but no big Barras at moment, water is very cold here but. Anyway mate looking forward to your next uploads tightlines for 2025 😎🐟🇪🇸

Catch and release bass learn fast. I've seen it myself in my local creeks with resident fish. I like white and natural looking colours. Size is important for me. The smaller the better especially with surface lures.

A lot of people think bass are dumb because they chase plastic things, but I think otherwise and don't disagree with you.
Size of lure is also a factor!
Big lures don't always catch big fish 😉

Amazing a whole video and yet you totally failed to understand what colors fish can actually see. As for contrast , a dark lure on a dark day is the opposite of contrast !

@steveharrison4176 did you watch to the end by chance? Where it clearly states "this is only what I've found that works"?
Thank you for your feedback though
Did you know that it is scientifically proven that not all fish see in the same way? So when you say "fish" do you mean ALL or a certain species?
