@@oni6574 yes, the album version is playing at a MUCH louder volume over top of his tracks. You can hear him flub a few times during the are you dead yet era. It is MUCH quieter.

Alexi wrote so many memorable solos that are praised by many but his riff work is impressive. Notes that are catchy for your ears and lots of fun for your fingers to play.
Listening and playing CoB rises me points of happiness.
I’d go as far and as to say his solos are so tastefully made, in lack of a better word, sexy 🤷♂️

You're hearing the guitar tracks from the albums, not his own tone.
Nice video! In the downfall riff; on the second half of the riff you dont play the open A string anymore, you go down on the 8th fret on the low E string, to play the right root note.
Alexi does this too. Many people miss this little detail that makes the riif cooler.
I have seen Children of Bodom only three times at Namba Hatch,Osaka,Japan in 2011,2013 and 2016. Rest in Peace,Mr Alexi Laiho😢

Downfall doesn't really show any evolution. It was around by the time the guys went recording Something Wild. They decided it didn't stick with the rest of the songs and omitted it. Based on what I heard and seen, I suspect Downfall being written before In The Shadows, after Deadnight Warrior. Also, Alexi's style of playing didn't change much (his efficiency got destroyed by booze and injuries tho), rather the overall sound and direction of the band changed from the Scandinavian Melodeath to American Thrash of the early 90s (probably to sell more) combined with some DM elements. However, the Scandinavian roots and BM influence was forgotten. There were early examples of this: If you take Deadnight Warrior, erase keyboard lines, and switch BM drums for TM drums, you have early Exodus. Contrary to many "superfans", I actually like their evolution. In my opinion, their peak was Blooddrunk. Similar to Shovel-headed Killmachine by Exodus, but superior in writing, composition, sound and energy. Love it to this day. The solo in Smile Pretty for the Devil won The Best Key Solo that year. And Roadkill Morning laid the foundation of my own metal band. R.I.P. Markku Uula Aleksi Laiho.

@@jakeparkerguitar is it a marshall style? I'm using an FM3, and I found that the cameron models is sort of insane for bodom riffs, but the leads are sort of weak with it.
