"What do you fuckin' mean I should not show off on my solos?-I have busted my ass practicing all my life just for that!!!-I will fuckin' show off as much as I want!!"- Alexi Laiho RIP
I can remember the first time listening to Hatebreeder like 'sometimes i think these guys are just showing off...and you know what? I'm totally OK with that' 😂
As a finn, I feel like we've not only lost a guitar legend, but a national hero of sorts. We finnish people admire other finns who are able to put Finland on the map + he was an amazing metal musician, he will be sorely missed by many people around the world and that warms my heart despite the horrible event.
Thank you for expressing this. I can only hope that many of your countrymen and women know that Finland produced one of the greatest metal guitarists and songwriters who ever lived.

Totally agree with you. He was the guitar idol of our generation, like VH was in his time. I remember listening to Hatebreeder with my friends and trying to figure out some licks. We wanted to be like him, play like him. And to think he was 19/20 when he recorded Hatebreeder is just insane. His music is the soundtrack of my teens, no doubt about it. RIP Alexi WildChild Laiho
34 and gutted. My goal was to be like him at 14 lol. they never made a good album past hatecrew, but by then he already achieved more than any musician could ever hope for. Such a guitar hero to our generation. RIP.
@@TheSteinbitt its kinda obnoxious to say they never made a "good" album past hatecrew. i'd argue are you dead yet is a good/almost great album. and their latest album hexed is good/bordering on great too
@@jordang9152 agreed. However, for me it was pretty much the first 4 albums that made (and kept) me a fan. Had COB started their career with AYDY and forward, I don’t know if I would have become the diehard that I am today. And Hexed was definitely refreshing.
@@F-Andre Well, he was awfully slim and looked malnurished for a long time. Now, I'm very thin too, but he just didn't look healthy, you could see it from his face. His look was probably(quite certainly) a result of heavy alcohol and drug use in the past. He could've had a liver problem or just some of his organs had been damaged long ago. Ofc there's the probability of suicide too.
Actually it didn't. He has been in a bad shape for awhile now. I remember a finnish rock radio interview he was in 2019 and he looked literally just skin and bones.
Really great tribute, and I agree about him being the Van Halen of our generation. Scary enough I posted a tribute video to Alexi Laiho a month ago on this exact date. Anyways, you really choosed the extra Nice parts from his catalouge. Awsome work man! 👊
"Downfall" is probably my favorite solo of his, and it's also a strong contender for my favorite COB song. COB was one of those foundational bands that got be into heavy music (Melodeath specifically), and just like Bradley (and many more in the comments, I'm sure) his style of playing has greatly influenced my own. It's a damn shame, but at the very least, Alexi left an impressive legacy for someone so young.
Downfall is my favourite solo too!! It was that solo that got me hooked to Children of Bodom. I still remember hearing it for the first time, that's jaw-dropping stuff bro
I'm late 30s, and I remember hearing "Something Wild" as a 16 year old, and just being amazed that someone just a couple years older than me was achieving at such a high level, internationally. Amazingly inspiring.
Top 3 albums of all time. Something wild is a masterpiece with a bit of everything from black metal, neoclassical, power metal, shredding and pure metal!
He was one of the reasons for me to pick up the guitar again when i was a high school student. He was one of my biggest influences with John Petrucci and Randy Rhoads. I can't describe how sad i am right now, i still can't believe it. Rest in peace Alexi, you will be missed.
@@imalexbojorquez Even my Mom heard about it all the way over here in Germany, and she immediately knew I´d be really fucking sad. Alexi is one of the main reasons why I play guitar, CoB shaped my taste in music so much I can´t even put it into words....
I spent my entire ninth grade learning Kissing the Shadows note for note. I wouldn't be half the guitarist I am today without Alexi's influence. RIP, brother.
Same here. I’ve listened to one or two of their albums. Their good, just not my cup of tea but hearing about this made me genuinely sad. If and when any of his post Bodom stuff comes out I’ll give it a listen in his honour.
My wife really loves COB and Alexi. She have seen them over 20 times and have every album signed. I myself remember him at a festival we both attended, he as an artist with COB and me as a rep for diff bands. Sat in the instrument display tent (music retailer tent) which had around 200 people in it at the time playing various versions of Smoke on the water, when this scrawny short pale guy with glasses and a cap sat down beside me in the Jackson booth and started playing some Malmsteen licks on this Green Meanie with me and a acquaintance of mine. We both knew who this guy was and just let him be him self for about 30 minutes when we all of a sudden started playing Downfall and later Needled. A group of 10 Finnish, mildly inebriated, COB fans noticed us and our session ended. That was a nice day. (Got my ass signed by Satchel that day as well)
It's so sad, I just discovered Children of Bodom last year. So disappointing to hear that he passed. He continues to inspire me as a young musician. \m/
Watching this video on the one year anniversary of his passing really hits different. Alexi and CoB are just such a huge influence in my songwriting, it's honestly insane. I remember being hit pretty hard by the news back when I first heard about it. We truly lost a real legend in not just metal, but also music as a whole one year today.
Alexi was the reason I learned to play the guitar in the first place. Wouldnt be where i am now without him. R.I.P. Alexi your music will never be forgotten.
Big chunk of growing up was spent listening to CoB and Alexi's killer playing - 2021 sucks. Great video man - showing some of them tough licks he had!!
Same for me, since i was 15 CoB was always on my playlist, and i had like 1gb mp3 player back then. so, mostly it was all my playlist. PS he passed in december, so it's 2020 fault. and that fucking year sucked till the last days.
It is a sad day, very sad day. 😭 Follow the reaper is my favourite album from COB. Genius! I bought my flying V because of him back in 2007. He will be missed.
Ive got a similar back story with COB, Alexi was the reason I started playing guitar in school, he was a massive influence for me. His death hit harder than I thought it would... RIP to a true metal hero Awesome video man, wish I could play Alexi's riffs and solos that well, never been able to play them clean enough
Kissing the shadows is not a solo , its a death metal orgasm symphony , a masterpiece that will forever stay in the throne of death metal guitar tunes history
i came up with Bodom as well.. at age 17/18 ish in high school my buddy gave me a stack of burned cds and one of those was Hatecrew Deathroll and within 30 seconds of Needled 24/7 i was HOOKED.. that keyboard guitar mix was all i took to make me fall in love.. then after becoming obsessed with the album i got ahold of follow the reaper and hatebreeder and something wild and i was a die hard fan.. Are you dead yet came out and i loved it... the live stockholm album/dvd combo came out and i would watch that shit on repeat... man good times.. Alexi will be missed... great video.. RIP Alexi Laiho.
Beautiful tribute, I can see Alexi with a beer in his hand and a big ass shit eating grin on his face, watching you pay homage to his masterwork...much love bro and thank you for this, it is extremely appreciated by me, as Alexi Laiho is my favorite guitarist of all time. A lot of tears have been shed today, and CoB has been on repeat since I heard the news. Cheers, to one of Metal's heaviest hitters. R.I.P.
Alexi was the reason why I picked up the electric guitar for the first time. The riff of Are You Dead Yet fucking blew my mind away. I don't think any death has affected me as bad as his. I hope he knew how many people he inspired to play guitar. Great tribute brother. I'm crying and headbanging to his tunes all day long today. Rest in Peace brother.
Eventhough I never reached the awesome level of his playing, damn he was one of my guitar idols as well. His songwriting is exeptional, and that mix of classical elements and metal is what got me into metal and opened the door to a whole new world for mir. RIP
Kissing the Shadows just makes me happy. That dueling solo is absolutely dynamite. God damn I miss Alexi. What an unreal musician. Wicked tribute compilation dude!
Literally the man who made me pick up a guitar. Still is one of my biggest inspirations, and forever will be. So glad I got to see CoB at least once, but damn.. His playing wasn't the best technically, but it always was to me for some reason. His playing was just so fun, inspiring and awesome, and so was his writingskills. The world just got a whole lot darker for a lot of people.. Rest in peace, you magnificent man.
I remember going thru every single COB related article, video or interview during my teenage years, I was living and breathing that band. I'll always remember not only the music, but also the funny interview moments, on stage shenanigans with Janne and the crazy backstage/studio material they relased over the years. Thank you for everything Alexi
I'm sure the majority of us have lost at least one musician that was an inspiration to us. While it is sad to see Alexi leave us at a young age, it makes us reflect on his work as an amazing guitarist and musician. Alexi, Thanks for your amazing work, and wherever you are, I'm sure you are rocking it on with all our fellow passed on idols. Bradley thanks for this epic tribute!
I've been a Bodom fan for a couple of years now, I've always loved and idolized Alexi, especially because he was such an exceptional guitar player, honestly waking up to hear the news that he had died was a complete buzzkill especially because I had just restarted my Bodom idolization and was getting back into listening to COB daily again. I'll always remember the day I heard my first COB song, can't remember how I found it but somehow I ended up listening to Sixpounder and that just hooked me in. I'm super sad that I never got to see Alexi play live and I will always tear myself up for missing the chance to see Bodom After Midnight's first gig, especially because I was in Helsinki at the time they were playing. Amazing tribute Bradley! I'm sure Alexi is looking down at all of us with a cold pint of beer and smiling.
I never listened to Children of Bodom but I knew who Alexi was and respected him for his insane guitar abilities (I still have the metal guitar DVD he did). I wasn’t into the screaming stuff when I first gave them a listen about 13 years ago. When I read he had passed I was shocked and saddened and started listening to some CoB, now I’m older and angrier I’ve been digging the crap out of their albums haha. Sooooo many good songs I’ve been missing out on that I wasn’t ready to hear back then.
I think I skipped this years ago thinking you were going to be a goof. I’m glad I watched this and respect you for the way you went about it and you crushed it on the guitar parts as well. Alexi was definitely the master of our time and like you say the punk rock attitude! He will definitely be missed! Shred on shredman!
Thank you for doing this. As an 18 year-old guitarist in progress, Alexi has been one of my biggest inspirations (and part of the reason I started painting my nails black!) Happy to see the "Oops!" solo getting some love, that cover is a total meme, but the musicianship is still legitimately awesome!
Awesome tribute, Brad 🤘 I got into Children of Bodom when I was 18 in 2012 & had just begun my final year of chemo. A few years before, I was also getting into much heavier music (which was less than a year i was diagnosed with Leukemia) & had heard a bit of them on Guitar Hero 5 (Done with Everything, Die for Nothing & is still a fave of mine) & Brutal Legend (Angels Don't Kill, wasn't an instant fave but it grew on me) but when I did get into them, the song & album that really sold me was Are You Dead Yet? I've been a huge fan ever since. I've unfortunately only seen them live once & that was what I didn't think would be their last ever show in the UK, that being Bloodstock 2019. I also play guitar & had lessons from 2015 until a couple of months before the lockdown. I still pick it up from time to time but I'm still not an expert in it. I'm also still not good but I enjoy doing riffs. Alexi Laiho will be missed (he still is to this day) & i can't help but wonder what more he would've done with Bodom After Midnight.
Thanks for this video. Alexi was an amazing guitarist and inspired the whole generation of musicians, incluiding myself. I remember spending months with guitar pro and CoB tabs and Kissing the Shadows was the first song I wanted to master... RiP to him. Great tribute brother !
“Kissing the Shadows” is one of my favorite songs and you nailed that solo! 🙌🏻 What a way to start a tribute! Alexi is proud of you wherever he may be...
Great tribute Bradley! I love that you included "Oops I did it again." This is truly devastating, glad I caught Bodom back in 2016 it was such an amazing show. Gonna miss Alexi so much R.I.P. Wildchild 😭🙏🏾🤘🏾
All the guitar heros I looked up to as a child are pretty much gone now, Alexi was one of the first to blow my tiny little mind as a tot. Not going to lie, he influenced my playing in ways I'll never understand. While it might take some years for me to ever reach their level, occasionally I'll write something and have a brief burst of of inspiration that just screams their style. I wouldn't be half the player I am today without trying to learn from this guy. Honestly can't thank him enough, he will be missed. R.I.P. man.
Seeing you sort of struggle with Children of Bodom solos (because they're insanely hard obviously) not as in you can't play them but having to really concentrate but still not being pitch perfect up to where Alexi was, really shows how insane he was of a guitarist. Hell I can barely even play his easiest solos! I was literally shedding tears this morning, as this guy very similarily to you was one of my first sort of super shred guitar idols, and he still is one of my absolute biggest idols in metal for guitar but also vocals, because nobody can really sort of create the same vocals he's done when doing the songs, his voice really was unique, and it sucks to know we won't be hearing more of it.
I was also thinking that, Alexi Laiho is the EVH for people in their 20's and 30's. I was and still am heartbroken from the news, i loved COB and Alexi, amazing musician and songwriter and he will be forever be missed. Thank you for this tribute Bradley. R.i.p. Wildchild.
Kind of "funny" to see how people of my generation, which is yours (I'm 30 now), react to this tragic event. CoB was the first extreme metal band I really listened to, and I loved it mainly because of the incredible guitar work (Alexi of course, but Roope is an amazing player too). My first step on guitar was Maiden and Metallica, my second step was CoB. I played so many riffs, tried to play so many solos, Alexi was my first guitar idol, my first inspiration. I barely stopped listening to CoB for several years, even if I came back to it with nostalgia sometimes. But when I learned the news, I was deeply sad. As if a part of myself, as a musician and a passionate, was gone. As you, I listened all the amazing songs and solos that made my musician youth, and I was blown away. First, because the stuff still sounds amazing today, I still think that Alexi is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, melodic metal composer from our generation. But especially because I realized that many elements of my guitar playing today, are from Alexi's playing, even if I barely don't listen to that kind of stuff anymore. From his solos of course, but also from his riffs (Hate Crew Deathroll/Are You Dead Yet/Blooddrunk era is sooooooooo good for this). Great video as always Bradley, and thank you for the honest tribute. I feel the same as you, and thanks to tributes like yours, his work and musicianship will be spread to current generations. And most of all, thank you Alexi, may you rest in peace. You were a true metalhead, with both good and bad sides of it. Your work and your influence will live forever in the music you loved.
I knew Alexi/COB from old articles in Guitar Player magazine about his beef with Petrucci/Dream Theater, Judging by his music, I thought they are on the same age, then I just I realized he just in early 20s at that time! What a legend. Rest in Peace Wildchild
@@Gramasz Laiho hates how DT played like a robot and even mentions Labrie looked like Opera singer rather than rock lol. That beef carried onto first Gigantour and Laiho refused to be on the same bill with them.

Can't believe it'll be 2 years in less than a week. I cried like a fucking baby when I heard. CoB is what got me into metal, be as bold as you want Brad, he was the EVH of fucking death metal. Was listening to them today and came across this video.
He was the Randy Rhoads of our generation dude. He definitely reopened the way and made it cool to be good at guitar again. In a sea of breakdowns, he was a flashy beacon of excellent lead work. The look, the style, everything was on point. Hell of a sad way to start the new year
Children of Bodom was one of the first metal bands I got into, they were my favorite for several years and I'm very glad I got to see them once, though I wish the circumstances had been better, I'm still glad to have seen them. Alexi's music is always going to be a big part of me
I've been looking for a good tribute to the band that influenced me the most in highschool. You did Alexi and Bodom proud! Rock on Brother and RIP Alexi!! Thank you !
Alexi Laiho was the most skilled and significant guitarist of our time. Co-founder of Children of Bodom, one of Finland's most significant metal bands (also, of course, one of the most successful internationally and globally). He left too young, but legends never die - he lives forever in the hearts of his family, loved ones, friends, band and fans. He had a successful career both in his home country in Finland and abroad and it would have been great to see what he would have achieved with Children After Midnight or the Finnish super band The Local Band. The most significant guitarist of our time, the face of one of the most significant metal bands and one of the most respected Finnish musicians. Rest in peace, Alexi "Wildchild" Laiho, 🇫🇮 legend. I think that Alexi respects this from over the clouds. I am also finnish people and I would have been grateful if I would have been seen him some day. 🙏
its absurd just how memorable he managed to be with each solo despite absolutely igniting the fretboard. one of a kind player. hes the reason im into melodic death metal. hurts extra bad as well cuz he was an icon in my countries music scene.
Awesome playing in this man! Pretty much all of my favourites here 🤘🏻 I love the Living dead beat solo as much as these too, but the kissing the shadows solos literally changed my life when I heard them as a kid 🤘🏻
That was the exact same thing I went through when I heard the news, right down to realizing how much his playing influenced mine! Silent Night...Bodom Night.
Well done man - I hadn’t listened to bodom in probably 10 years but you brought it all back. Saw Alexi passed on dragonforce s channel - hit me in the feels
This is the loss that hits home worse than anything. For 20 years, there's been no other group whose music I can relate to in the same manner. So many moments I'' remember always. If I had to pick a top moment, I'd pick the latest. Watching the band live in pouring rain. My first ever metal gig not completely drunk. They start playing Hecate's Nightmare. Never cared much for that song. Then the songs picks up the pace. The intensity suddenly rises. Things are moving. Then the chorus come the first time, and pyro flames blow high as hell, the stage is engulfed in flames. The song is heavy as fuck, the album version sounds like Britney Spears next to that live version. The high point of the great show. Sure wish I'd have done something else for the last 20 years other than drinking and missing out so much while going to gigs.
I was absolutely crushed to hear he passed. A lot of people here in the States, weren’t too big on him. Feels like it was 50/50 whether people liked his style. I grew up with the typical first metal bands that people here listen to back when I was in high school around 2004. Metallica, Guns n Roses, Megadeth, Pantera, It was all a new world for me. But then CoB came along and I was absolutely mesmerized by them. Alexi was amazing. I had never seen anything like him before. Instantly became my guitar idol. To this day I want one of his old Alexi signature LTDs. I coveted them as a teenager. I think this might be the year I make that dream a reality. I know people are started to raise the prices to chip in on his passing. Something bad happens and the people don’t hesitate to show their cruel greedy side. R.I.P. Alexi Laiho. I will cherish the joy your playing brought me.
Laiho was the reason I bought an electrical guitar. I watched him playing with dropped jaw as a teenager and wanted to get from basic chords to that level. I never reached that level, but at least I was able to play most of the riffs and easier solo parts. RIP you absolute legend!
Thanks for that video Bradley!! Alexi was a true inspiration for a lot of guitarist that spents many hours just trying to do the things that he did on the guitar. Thanks for your respect on the video, and keep metal alive. Is the only way that musicians of this category live in our hearts forever. A hug, nice work - your awesome by the way. Greeting from Chile
Amazing tribute to an absolute legend. Like you, I would spend HOURS playing along to his songs back in 2007-10 and was even lucky enough to see COB live in 2009. Though I haven’t listened to them in years, to this day I will never forget his energy and talent, and his heavy influence in my playing style. Too young, RIP.
Just discovered your channel - and finding this tribute was priceless! Firstly, a huge well done for your performance! I think that you got his 'spirit' and 'vibe'! Wonderful job - and thanks for including Next in Line, which is one of my favorite CoB songs... As a peer with Alexi Laiho (1979), I discovered them when "Something Wild" came out, and due to the fact that we were the same age (as with the majority of the band), I kind of felt that he was a schoolmate of mine! So I was devastated with his death - and still am, to be honest. I love his crazy ideas, his musical genious, his dexterity and musical education, so contrary with his looks! Add to all these his humble character and approachfulness (if this word exists) and then you get the recipe for his success!
He’s a legend. A great loss was felt today in the metal community. Every time I Die was my absolute favorite guitar solo by Alexi. Gave me goosebumps every time!
I am honestly on the verge of crying, children of bodom was one of my favourite bands growing up, and Alexi is one of my greatest inspirations in both technique and songwriting Thank you for this awesome tribute. RIP a legend
Brad, I'm speechless. First time I ever heard this guy play was back in -99 or -00. I was blown away. That changed my life forever. I'm an old guy now but still after 20 something years I still find myself playing Alexi's sweeps or licks. That guy is gonna live forever through entire generation of younger guitarists. This is unreal. Last week I had the urge of listening to CoB again after a while. Was watching some shows from 2017-2019 and was happy to see Alexi playing tight again. I didn't even know they had split! Now I see your video on the recommendations and learn he passed. What the fuck man. I'm truly shocked

Crazy my favorite youtube musicians are also huge bodom fans. The day he died. I had a terrible night sleep and was just bummed out the whole morning. I had no real Idea what that guy really meant to me as a musician until he was gone. It still hurts some days. Its like losing a friend you lived far from. Thank you Bradley, from another Bradley, and thank you Alexi for being such a huge inspiration.
I was shocked when i saw that Laiho was dead... He was my idol and always will be. He made me start playing guitar and he got me into "extreme metal" and classical music.
I remember back in 99, when I was about 13 years old and listening predominantly to Korn, Deftones, and early 90s alt-rock... a friend came over after school and threw on Something Wild... the first riff of Lake Bodom, and I was absolutely hooked. Alexi was so innovative, putting together heavy thrash-like riffs with Yngwie'esque virtuosity.
Damn... hearing the news of his passing hit hard. Children of Bodom was the first metal concert I have had ever been to, it was for the Are You Dead Yet tour. They had a signing at a small local metal shop before the show and got a chance to meet them a bit since there weren't that many folks there when I was. All great folks and seeing Alexi play those songs live was crazy. Lost a legend. Great tribute Bradley!

Im 19 and Alexi Laiho made me want to start playing the guitar because my dad had met him plenty of times. He lived like few kilometers from my house.
Bro that must have been the most amazing thing.
"A few km" is when your neighbours are too close in Finland ;-)
That’s the best flex I have ever heard.
RIP Alexi Laiho. This news came out of nowhere
Still wonder what happens to him:( Theys say he suffered a long time... but from what... cancer? depression...??
@@F-Andre Well, he was awfully slim and looked malnurished for a long time. Now, I'm very thin too, but he just didn't look healthy, you could see it from his face. His look was probably(quite certainly) a result of heavy alcohol and drug use in the past. He could've had a liver problem or just some of his organs had been damaged long ago. Ofc there's the probability of suicide too.
Since when do people’s deaths dont come out of nowhere...
Actually it didn't. He has been in a bad shape for awhile now. I remember a finnish rock radio interview he was in 2019 and he looked literally just skin and bones.
@@ALEX3498 Amy Whinehouose eg ;)
Really great tribute, and I agree about him being the Van Halen of our generation. Scary enough I posted a tribute video to Alexi Laiho a month ago on this exact date. Anyways, you really choosed the extra Nice parts from his catalouge. Awsome work man! 👊
Kissing the Shadows has one of the best solos of all time. That guitar/keyboard duel is amazing.
Hell yea brother
Yes!
Alexi: ARE YOU DEAD YET?!?!
Us: *tear*
"Downfall" is probably my favorite solo of his, and it's also a strong contender for my favorite COB song. COB was one of those foundational bands that got be into heavy music (Melodeath specifically), and just like Bradley (and many more in the comments, I'm sure) his style of playing has greatly influenced my own. It's a damn shame, but at the very least, Alexi left an impressive legacy for someone so young.
Agreed, loved hearing Downfall as an outro to their shows
Yeaaaah first time I heard the album I thought it was the "boring song" but it quickly rose to become my favorite after a couple of replays.
Downfall is definitely my hands down favorite.
Downfall is my favourite solo too!! It was that solo that got me hooked to Children of Bodom. I still remember hearing it for the first time, that's jaw-dropping stuff bro
Especially the toyko warhearts version!!
You know that Alexis passing was big deal here Finland and all over the world when finnish main tv news had full article about him😭
Oh man, I couldn't believe it when I saw the article, I was hoping that it was a hoax. But then I saw more and more posts, and it crushed me.
Kissing the shadows is definitely one of the all-time best fucking solos ever recorded
I never listened to children of bodom that much but I was sad about this when I first heard, R.I.P. alexi laiho
Same here. I’ve listened to one or two of their albums. Their good, just not my cup of tea but hearing about this made me genuinely sad. If and when any of his post Bodom stuff comes out I’ll give it a listen in his honour.
@Damian Xu Could u name some of their songs u would like me to listen to ? I have never heard any of their songs
@@abrahamrodrigues1049 I recommend children of decadence and everytime i die. Those are my favorites

Start with Hatebreeder album > Follow the Reaper album.
These albuns are his masterpieces.
(Got my ass signed by Satchel that day as well)
Another guitar hero left us...This news shoked me today. RIP Alexio
It's so sad, I just discovered Children of Bodom last year. So disappointing to hear that he passed. He continues to inspire me as a young musician. \m/
Awesome playing dude!!! Got to get you a wham bar!
To be able to shred and be a killer frontman is beyond me. Such talent
Great tribute!!
That solo from Kissing the Shadows. Man, that is great.
He was 41 but had more miles on him than most at 80. So sad to hear about his passing.
Sorry, don't blame 2021 .
Actually he passed away in 2020, which makes it hell a lot worse than it was
It is a sad day, very sad day. 😭
Follow the reaper is my favourite album from COB. Genius!
I bought my flying V because of him back in 2007. He will be missed.
Alexi Laiho was such great talented metal musician. Thanks for this, Bradley. 🤘🏼
Ive got a similar back story with COB, Alexi was the reason I started playing guitar in school, he was a massive influence for me. His death hit harder than I thought it would... RIP to a true metal hero
Awesome video man, wish I could play Alexi's riffs and solos that well, never been able to play them clean enough
Shout out to everyone practicing Alexi Laiho licks in their basements today in honor of one of the guys that made us want to pick up a guitar
Thanks man, I tried learning Hate Me on guitar yesterday.
@Frank Rauen Bro we are all at our guitar today, paying our tribute. Metal unites
Eventhough I never reached the awesome level of his playing, damn he was one of my guitar idols as well. His songwriting is exeptional, and that mix of classical elements and metal is what got me into metal and opened the door to a whole new world for mir. RIP
30 years old here, he was the guitar hero when I was in my teens. RIP.
Kissing the Shadows just makes me happy. That dueling solo is absolutely dynamite. God damn I miss Alexi. What an unreal musician. Wicked tribute compilation dude!
R.i.p Alexi, we miss him :(
rest in piece, alexi, the beast of melodeath
Awesome tribute, Brad 🤘
I got into Children of Bodom when I was 18 in 2012 & had just begun my final year of chemo.
I'm 13, I heard of COB two years ago, and this was so good... this is still good. RIP Alexi
R.I.P to one of my biggest childhood idols. His art helped me through so many awful times in my life and he truly will be missed.
Even though COB’s style changed throughout the years, I love every one of their albums. A truly unique band that turned me on to extreme metal.
RIP Alexi Laiho ... great tribute Bradley, amazing playing
Great tribute Bradley! I love that you included "Oops I did it again." This is truly devastating, glad I caught Bodom back in 2016 it was such an amazing show. Gonna miss Alexi so much R.I.P. Wildchild 😭🙏🏾🤘🏾
I m madly in love with Every time i die, Six ponder, Are you dead yet and yes Lake bodom..
R.i.p. Wildchild.
janken als een klein kind maat :(
Kind of "funny" to see how people of my generation, which is yours (I'm 30 now), react to this tragic event.
Lol what was the beef about
@@Gramasz Laiho hates how DT played like a robot and even mentions Labrie looked like Opera singer rather than rock lol. That beef carried onto first Gigantour and Laiho refused to be on the same bill with them.
@@oktaperdana9414 lol DT played like robots some of their songs. But others not so much.. Its common joke here to call DT and Petrucci cold. Its true for some songs but not much for others, especially in some slower Petrucci solos where he has a soulfull touch

Kissing the Shadows literally convinced me to get into guitar when I was 14. Seen him live 8 times and he was an inspiration . RIP ALEXI LAIHO \m/
This hit so hard I had to cry. Alexi brought me to metal and is the reason why I picked guitarr. Rest in peace wildchild, love from Finland ♥️🤘
I love the Nail solo, absolutely awesome sweep arpeggios guitar solo and underrated guitar solo
Anyway, you nailed the solo, Mr. Hall
One of the best guitarists in modern metal! RIP Alexi Laiho!
He’s a legend. A great loss was felt today in the metal community. Every time I Die was my absolute favorite guitar solo by Alexi. Gave me goosebumps every time!
I am honestly on the verge of crying, children of bodom was one of my favourite bands growing up, and Alexi is one of my greatest inspirations in both technique and songwriting
Thank you for this awesome tribute.
Today I drank the whole goddamn bottle of Jameson because I read the news. I still remember hearing him the first time like it was just yesterday. It changed my life forever. Thank you for making this video. 🤘

The whole Hatebreeder album for the win!!!!
Expirienced exactly the same thing... Have not heard COB since about 3 years... But only 2 weeks before he died...
I remember when I first heard Alexi play, it was the cover of the Four Seasons by Vivaldi and I was amazed! What always sparked my interest in Alexis' work was how it was super heavy and shredy but also melodic as all hell!! He will be missed
Crazy my favorite youtube musicians are also huge bodom fans.
The day he died. I had a terrible night sleep and was just bummed out the whole morning. Around lunch a friend called me to ask if I was ok. I asked him why. He mentioned Alexi died. I broke down. I had to leave work that day. I had no real Idea what that guy really meant to me as a musician until he was gone. It still hurts some days. Its like losing a friend you lived far from.
Thank you Bradley, from another Bradley, and thank you Alexi for being such a huge inspiration.
Im crying :'(
I listen to them for 5 months.
I also painted my nails like Alexi :)
Thanks, Brad. This video was touching, amazing, and just a joy to watch.

Some of his best stuff is on Sinergy’s Suicide By My Side album.
Damn... hearing the news of his passing hit hard.
