Never thought that Japanese would actually enjoy the complex flavors of Indonesian dishes. I had a few Japanese who disliked the spiciness regardless the hot level of Indonesian dishes
You can make that Bika Ambon with simple ingredients. The honeycomb like appearance is due to gas produced by the yeast or baking soda that got trapped inside and moving up to free themselves but since the viscosity of the batter is so dense, the bubble mold the inside while moving its pathway up and the thick batter is already set and steaming

I love most sambal. I live in a European country but because we had colonies in south east Asia an while ago Sambal is widely available in the supermarkets. The standard options here are oelek, manis and badjak. I like brandal and badjak the most. Brandal has onion, garlic, candle nuts and sometimes lime leaf in it and badjak is less spicy with lots of onion. I eat it with almost half my meals.

    • @hendrokiantoro864
      @hendrokiantoro864 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Ayam Geprek is basically fried chicken with local spices, crushed for easier consumption, and topped with liberal amount of sambal.
Rica-Rica is pronounced like りちゃりちゃ. It's basically a type of sambal from eastern part of Indonesia, which tends to be spicier than the western part.
Bika has a texture similar to Tamagoyaki!
Anyway, this is a fun video! Please create more contents like this again.

Protip for Mi Goreng seasoning: I usually warm up the oil/sambal/soy sauce package in the boiling water just to loosen them up (Cuz sometimes they turn solid / clumped). Then, put all the seasonings (oil + powder) on a plate and mix them until they became a homogeneous paste, then you add the cooked noodles and mix. It'll coat the noodles better than putting the seasonings on top of the cooked noodles.

One of the reason why Indonesia was colonized in the past, is because of SPICES. Indonesia has hundreds of taste and flavor that can blow your mind.
And indo mie is just a tiny part of them. Indo Mie noodle has some "iconic" taste from all Indonesia's flavors:
Ayam Geprek (smashed chicken with chili / from Javanese)
    Sambal Matah (Balinese sambal)
Sambal Rica-Rica, spelt: Richa-Richa (Manadonese sambal / from North Sulawesi)
Soto Padang (Minangkabau / Padangese curry / from West Sumatra) PS: For all indo-mie soup type, put at least 250cc of water.
Bika Ambon (from Bataknese / North Sumatra)
Sambal Terasi, chili with shrimp paste, one of the most favorite and the best sambal in Indonesia

i think you should try Indomie goreng Aceh. The taste is better than indomie ayam geprek i think. Sooo tasty, sweet, but not too spicy.
Btw the dog said : i want one, i want one, i want one!! please give me give me give me!!! 😂😂😂 sooo cute 😍😍

Matah means 'raw' referring to the raw ingredients it's used. It's a traditional Balinese salsa. You should try mixing it with shredded chicken and eat it on steamed fluffy rice :D

Oh you guys are really good! You're right, bika ambon (the cake) is also made with lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves. Another important ingredient is the fragrant pandan (screwpine) leaves, which we love to add to our cakes and desserts.
