I bought this bike 2 weeks ago after having 3 GS. I need new knees and arthritis is setting in so the GS was too big and heavy for me. The C 400 GT is fantastic I’m really enjoying it plus I’m getting 98mpg
I have Had mine for two weeks. I love it. its so agile and actually pretty quick. and For commutes to work I wont need to go over 80mph so 90mph top speed is cool. its a comfortable and fun ride from 0 to 90mph
Had one of these while my GS was being serviced, absolute hoot, really impressed. The Flex-case is a thoughtful idea. I was amazed with its Motorway capability.
I keep on telling everyone, 75% of motorcyclists should just stick to maxi-scooters: 80-90% fun of a moto; without the hassle of having to cary a helmet everywhere while walking in uncomfortable boots.
In Australia (where I live) all motorcyclists regardless of the capacity or configuration ie scooter or bike 2 wheels or three wheels (front or back) have to wear helmets. I have a scooter (a Suzuki Burgman 650 Executive) and a Can Am Spyder. Both are fun to ride but in different ways. The helmet is not an issue.
@@blikje_in_de_water Thanks for explaining that. Storing the helmet on the bike is essential. On the Burgman it can go under the seat or in the top box. On the Spyder it can go in the "frunk" or hang off a hook under the locked seat. No need to carry it unless you want to.
Great review of a great scooter, I had the chance to ride the C650 GT version a few months ago, it was very fast and a fun scooter to ride, they have discontinued the 650 in the USA. Keep up the great videos!
I was thinking, wouldn't it be nice if BMW made a 500 cc opposed twin, a boxer, scooter with the intake in the front so it could get it's ram air right under the feet up front, with exhaust coming out the rear? Then the gas tank could be between the feet and maybe they could make it a bit larger for range. I don't know why the boxer engines are quite high in the center. I didn't think it would need to be that way. Maybe I should look into it, but I like the idea of scooters having a low center of gravity and lots of storage. I'm thinking side saddle bags could be a part of the build in for even more storage. If the cylinders are short, they wouldn't have to stick out so far. Maybe they could be angled up a bit, even. I just see a lot of potential for these larger scooters which seem to be something relatively new.
Hi there, I bought the Sister Model c 400 X at Becker-Tiemann, I will get it soon. This BMW Scooters are really amazing to ride. I also ordered the expandable Topcase Shad SH 58 x for it, you can vary it between 46 and 58 Liters.
Super video about the C400GT. Where do you make your video ? I find the place with the little river, the bridge and the wooden bank very beautifull. 😊😊😊 Thank you.
great review. I own this scooter in the C400X version for 1 year. it is for me a very good scooter under the category of maxi scooters. Its strengths in my opinion: its engine allowing you to calmly envisage journeys even of several hundred kilometres, punchy engine on its torque even in the mountains, very correct and stable handling with good ground clearance, the TFT and the connectivity that I don't use on my bike from the same manufacturer but that I use a lot on the C400. consumption is very reasonable. Original protection is zero and I added a high windscreen. The big negative points, the very insufficient trunk volume and the very difficult decoupling (crutch 😡) and the behavior affected by the transport of a passenger. After trying to keep this scooter as the only vehicle, I finally took a motorcycle, the pleasure not being there. it is an excellent (expensive) option as a second vehicle
@@renes9966 I admit that I never touched the suspension settings because I did little duet. obviously the scooter is less punchy at 2 but especially as it loses liveliness it is less manageable at low speed it is less easy to take because the torque is stifled. on the other hand, once launched at 50/60 km/h, it retains its good stability
I took the C400 X for a test tide yesterday (demo bike). I noticed a little rattle by the rear suspension/transmission area while going downhill o letting the engine slow down when approaching a red light. I am not sure if this noise was always present while riding. Hace you experienced something like that?
Nice review, after 40+ years of biking I’ve just bought one of these don’t have it yet should be with me by next week, never ridden a scooter but wanted this for nipping around locally. I’ve not gone for the TFT have a few BMW’s with the TFT, it works really well but didn’t see the need for it on the scooter, also wasn’t so keen on the look of the screen with the blue colour.

I now ride a Harley Davidson 2019 Fatabob 114 ci, fully modified for long distance touring. I also ride a BMW 2022 R18 Classic (the one with windshield and saddlebags from factory). I love these 2 but I am selling the R18 because I want a scooter, and I betting on the C400 X, instead of the GT (there isn't any available where I live). Cheers!!!

Im looking to use it as a daily summer commuter around town and also would like to take it down to Atlantic City from northern jersey when I want to
I have been riding R1200RT for 18 years and just bought a C400GT. It is a breeze in the city! I love the instruments, the heated seat/handlebars, the TFT screen features. Now to get a top box and most importantly - a brake lever locking pin. THAT is the one big omission, not having a park brake! Try programming your phone when the scooter is on a slope!
Hi Scott! Would you try the Honda X-ADV with DCT clutch? These new maxi scooters aren't as much "scooters" as we used to think about them. Lot more. Thanks.
All these mid-size scooter reviews do the comparison with the freeway commute maxi scooters and say it stands up fine, but where are the comparisons to the advantages of small in-town scooters, the 49cc to 185cc sizes that are so convenient for their uses -- does the C400 fill both niches? Can it hide/share a parking spot with a car? can it lane-split? Will it get ticketed on a curb sidewalk where a 125cc wouldn't? That kind of thing.

I own a GS, a VFR and an Aprilia maxi scooter. This scooter has a comparable power output to the 400GT. The big negatives for me: limited suspension travel (a problem with most scooters), not that fast between 60 and 110 km/h, weather protection in rain not that good. Also stability, although not bad, is not in the GS class. And I prefer a manual transmission bike for really low speed riding. There is no friction zone on a CVT... Thus far I prefer my motorbikes...

Here in the UK the price is approx £12,700 (ish) whereas the BMW is below £10k. I have to agree that the turn-by-turn is a bit basic and should have a full satnav .

I tried it and it makes no difference for other "400" scooters. If you enjoy electronics and warm contact points, ok. Rear suspension is the worst feeling I had.
Slow compared with Kymco AK550 yet the price is comparable in Australia. Where do BMW make the C400GT? the old BMW C600 and C650GT were made in the Kymco factory, Taiwan.

Batteries/electric isn’t as green as it’s made out to be. Not to mention it’s only as “clean” as its source…so countries that rely particularly on …idk let’s just say coal for arguments sake…going electric is particularly antithetical to the cause in such countries. Such a step back to go from cleaner burning gas to more reliance on coal. I could also never downgrade to 95km of range and having to stop forever to charge
Electric vehicles are only "green" in terms of the vehicle owner's direct interaction with it, as the construction of the battery and motors certainly isn't, nor is (typically) the generation of the electricity needed to run it. The electric vehicle industry actively supports environmental destruction, as well as child labor and economic slavery. Take a car, for instance -- it would take over ten years of ownership and use for an electric car to be less harmful to use over an ICE, due to the significant amount of pollution/harm caused during construction. Calling a vehicle "green" is repeating propaganda. Calling an electric vehicle "zero emission" or "good for the environment' is greenwashing BS.
Sorry, I have very limited experience on scooters. I'm 5'10" and would have liked more leg room but again I have no experience to compare it to, so I said nothing about leg room. BTW, I don't think I'll do many more scooters, I'm a bike guy :)
TFT display is not a standard. It's easy to dismount and in "west, developed democracy" full of "cultural enrichment" like UK or France there's a big chance u'll enjoy it for just few days. Engine is chinese product, makes anoying metalic sound and this "flex" storage sucks. Almost there. Tested one.

ItS a KYMCO motor! ....fact
I've got to think a Cb500x is better over those cobbles
Yea, of course, 19" front on the X vs. a 15", the 19" will win all day long.
why not talk about leg room for persons over 6' ( 180cm) very comfy
Sorry, I have very limited experience on scooters. I'm 5'10" and would have liked more leg room but again I have no experience to compare it to, so I said nothing about leg room. BTW, I don't think I'll do many more scooters, I'm a bike guy :)
I have tested this scooter and it is very underwhelming

Engine is chinese product, makes anoying metalic sound and this "flex" storage sucks. Almost there. Tested one.
This heavy pig weighs 150 pounds more than my Vespa gts
These BMWs have a Chinese Loncin engine. Why would anyone invest in a Chinese engine when you can buy Yamaha or Honda for considerably less ?
I would rather buy a Japanese scooter, able to storage 2 helmets.
We don't need electric scooters. Power is too pricey.
