What about painting stucco that has never been painted before? I live in California and worked with my fathers plastering company, it was a sin to paint over stucco. We would always apply a fog coat or elastomeric paint on smooth finish that would have trowel burns at joints. Times have changed I know to me paint looks better at least at the begining. What are your thoughts? Thxs!
So true stucco its best to use mineral paints Like Romabio masonry flat. Got to keep that stucco breathing. Also Limewash paints are great to. JH lime wall makes a great one. Lime washes are great because it really keeps that natural stucco look. Neither product will trap moisture so will hold the same permeability rating as your stucco.

Would this analysis apply to painting exterior cinder block?
You can paint cinderblock with Romabio. However I like the Loxon Water proofing system for this use case better.

Painting your brick voids the warranty. Using Romabio does not.
