That animation at the end was the chef’s kiss. Sold.
Indeed exactly like how the barber shows you the result.
The virtual walk-around at the end is hilarious and also a super nice touch
Its funny that the bz4x is good on everything except the ev part yet Toyota has been doing battery Powered cars since the late 90’s 😅
Lol, Toyota understands battery tech, others do not. You think they limit charging speed, availible battery capacity etc, because they don't know any better? That they don't know how to build a faster battery charger that depletes the battery to a lower voltage?
8-10 years from now, todays Toyota batteries will still be working while other batteries are failing. People will think that Toyota really understands reliability, best get me one of those.
'@windsolarupnorth7084 are you being sarcastic?
@@windsolarupnorth7084 What are you basing those claims on?
Yes, Toyota might be conservative on their charging speed which might prolong their cars' battery life. But that does not mean they will be better off in the long term when compared to some of the more advanced competitors.
Proper thermal management like with the Tesla's octovalve, modern battery chemistries, good software and BMS, etc. all play their role. I am unable to quantify the exact effect of these improvements. But I would not be surprised if the cars with all these technological advancements will have overall better battery longevity than the slow charging cars from Toyota which might use older, less optimal technologies.
"Its funny that the bz4x is good on everything except the ev part yet Toyota has been doing battery Powered cars since the late 90’s "
Well it's nice that Toyota found something they are good at. 😅
@@windsolarupnorth7084 "Lol, Toyota understands battery tech, others do not. "
Is that why their first iteration sucked so much that people in Norway wanted to return the car at once?
" People will think that Toyota really understands reliability, best get me one of those."
No. They will not. They will see yet another thing that Toyota sucks at and choose a better car instead.
Impressive stuff. Good video. But I disagree that the car fails here. 7:04
It gives you various parking options which is good if it is confused by the lines. And it is then your responsibility to select the legal option 👍
It's good to give the drivers the freedom to choose even weird spots. Where I live there are many parking spots where it is legal to park (partially) on the sidewalk. In the end of the day it is always the driver's responsibility to choose the right spot, and the car is just assisting in the cumbersome manoeuvrers
Bjorn if you are considering making this as a part of your regular test regiment maybe you should start timing too.
You can just check the time stamps of the video, it can give you an almost accurate estimation.
You found the one good feature of this car. Very impressive. My MINI could self parallel but it was no where near this fast or accurate. Only used proximity sensors, many cars today should be able to do this since all the parts are there.
Awesome job Toyota. The visuals are very good.
That AR representation of the car in the parking spot is what was missing all the time. Usually, you wouldn't; know which spot the car chose for you until you finished parking.
That sideways parking option 😊 I guess it has an option to park like a BMW driver 😂
IONIQ 5 / EV6 and later models also have remote park (without sitting in the seat). You choose parking spot in the car display, leave the car and then hold down either forward or backward button (doesn't matter which) on key fob to park.
Suddenly the bZ4X is an option for me as the next EV. Didn't think that would happen.
If you need persuading to think further this is my experience. I've had one (AWD) for 15 months in the UK with no issues. It is the most underated and over critised car. I'm asking Bjorn by way of this reply to do a demo on Xdrive, trust me, it's awesome. I partly agree about the range but that also is negatively egaggerated. In the slightly warmer weather in the UK now I am acheiving 3.5 miles per kWh = 225 miles with HVAC in use Auto Eco setting. I recently did a very favourable 10 mile trip and acheived 5 miles / kWh equivalent to 320 miles. (You don't have to believe me). Obviously that wouldn't be maintained on a longer trip. Furthermore DC charging is much better since updates, but I hardly ever use public charging. After 13,000 miles I have saved over 1,000 GBP on energy cost by home charging on cheap over night rates. However if anyone depends on public charging then I wouldn't recommend an EV (of any sort) because of the rip off charges and terrible infra structure in the UK. The Toyota critics can keep saying the wheels fall off, or there is no rear wiper, etc etc etc but I am happy with the bZ4x. And oh yes, I think it is fun to drive on twisty open roads, and off the line acceleration is rapid. Great car and yes I did watch Bjorn's 1000km test early on which was very scathing about the range but even he said it had improved after the updates. You have to have one long term to fully appreciate it.
update, I've just seen his snow slope test in Xmode
"Suddenly the bZ4X is an option for me as the next EV. Didn't think that would happen."
Because it can do one trick well?
That animation is brilliant! 😊
Brilliant. I have auto park on my ID.4 with only ultrasonic sensors and backup camera, but it’s so weird experience I have only tried it once. The bZ4X looks more confident inspiring.
Finally! Love that, they are getting so good now!
Great video. Can you test EV charging speed and range test since this a 2024. It’s supposed to be significantly improved over the 23 models.
Renault Megane also shows you parking place with cameras 👍
Awesome system and video showing its capabilities! 👏👏
My Megane can do this as well but it's way clumsier and slower. But these systems also do a ton of dry steering. But this one is definitely very decent.
Can you try to borrow an EQE or EQS with Memory parking and remote parking assist? Ask the dealer for the linked smartphone. That would be very interesting to see as a comparison.
It’s so much fun to watch this video, thanks so much!
That is superb, really clever system
Best auto parking I’ve seen 👍
Would be nice to see test range of bz4x 2024 and compare with 2023 result.
Toyota has a lot of experience with auto parking. Even my old 2010 Toyota Prius had autoparking. Rather primitive and slow compared to this. You could even adjust the placement of the blue rectangle if you did not like the position the car suggested. You could also drive along a row of cars and the car would tell you to stop when it found a spot that was big enough. The problem was that it was slow so it was faster to park the car manually. You also had to adjust the speed using the brake pedal and shift between R and D yourself.
Some of the parking spots it suggested though ha
What about winter range? Some upgrade?
Finally something bz4X is good at lol
I bought Tesla EAP back then. Autopark practically no longer works here. Half of the parking spaces are not even recognized and when it tries once, it drives back and forth and breaks off 50% of the time. Really sad considering how well it worked when he was still using USS. But even then it doesn't come close to Toyota levels.
smeargol wants it 🤩
The self park stops as soon as there is another car or people around. Arterwards you vant continue. I3 is for parallell pirking is great
Please do the test with Teslas
So toyota put all the effort in the auto parking and forgot everything about EV 😂.
🤣
The best auto parking I have ever seen, with VW, you need to drive slowly next to cars, it doesn't use the lines and it's not confidence inspiring.
❤❤❤
Tesla with it's "full self driving" capabilities is not even close to this.
"Tesla with it's "full self driving" capabilities is not even close to this."
Their focus haven't been on training auto parking though.
@@yourcrazybear It should
@@tommyovesenyou should probably go watch some auto parking for the latest Tesla release. It’s very clean and has these capabilities. It will also park on its own after reaching the destination autonomously but that’s still early.
@@newberry940051 I will. I while since I saw it.
How was the headlight?
Is there Camp mode on bZ4X? In case we have to sleep on the car?
@Bjorn do you know if this works the same on previous model years, too?
Yes, if you're sitting in a 2023 Solterra. Toyota's started getting it for the 2024 model year.
Is that a new system that this year's BZ4X brings to Europe? Because I know they didn't include it before.
Do you think we will get to see it in Spain?😅😅
If Toyota improves charging in that way the car might be competitive
Interesting test and quite good functionality. The design and user interface however looks like it is from 2011.
Tesla watching like 😮 The EV6 is also really good
Tesla already got better Autoparking , just not rolled out for us EU plebs :(
Tesla autopark on vison only is better. It's just been released.
@@kenion2166 Well, I live in Europe, sooooo. And even the Autopark in the US sucks a lot of times. It is slow or the connection gets lost. Maybe they will now improve it with the V12 Beta but so far, Tesla is behind, again. But not surprised someone just had to come to defend Tesla :D
@@jooptablet1727 No it isnt. Show me a video where it can parallel park in a narrow spot or even better park FORWARD! I bet you can't
@@ichigo19870 found it but can't share link on TH-cam comments just look for yourself "FSD 12.3.3 *vision only* parallel auto park" on X
Impressive indeed. Maybe an Xpeng with latest software can match it 🤔
Well done Toyota!
Great parking feature, but who buys a car to park it? Despite the small upgrade to the battery charging this car and its Subaru and Lexus siblings are still years behind the rest of the pack by punishing you for wanting to have 2 or 3 DCFC cycles consecutively. I like the styling (apart from the lack of a rear wiper that is essential in wet parts of the world) and even though I’m sure most owners will homecharge for the vast majority of their charges that punishment would really put a dampener on taking the car on a road trip the length of the U.K. or across continental Europe.
If you buy a car you have to park it, so your comment doesn't make sense. Especially as Bjorn in this video is focusing on one aspect of the car, auto parking.
Butthurt Tesla simp🤣
@@verygoodbrother "If you buy a car you have to park it, so your comment doesn't make sense. "
He was referring to the auto park feature.
6:05 what kind of video am I watching???
And it hit the curb! 9/10???
Car feels unneccesarily big.
Didn’t bz4x loose the wheels? 🛞
Not appreciated bug.
Dude that issue has been solved many years ago. Are you using Internet Explorer cause news comes to you really slow.
