Jamie, you’ll have more fun in that car if you leave it as it is. More power isn’t always a good thing. Turbo it and you’ll not want or need to use all the revs. Besides, you already have the monster DC5 🤷
Love it jamie, really clean example and was a seriously sick bit of kit back in the day, magazines all agreed it was probably the v best handling fwd car available!. My 20 plate cupra 290 struggle’s to get a better 0-60 because of traction and the old skool dc2 with less power punches that no. Out, crazy. Btw the round headlights are great looking and the wheel just isn’t!!. Watching with interest. Think I need a type r of some sort 🤔. Cheers ✌🏻
Jamie you should have the best of both worlds and keep it B series as long as you can. The beauty of your situation is you have some many options/avenues to go. Maybe keep both engine types on hand for the hell of it so you can have the car set up for any type of duty you want. 😆
Hmm, if my B series knowledge from over a decade ago is still valid having the VTEC engage so early (3.5K RPM) may actually be a little detrimental to the overall drivability of the car. The reason is that the air coming past the throttle body and into the individual intake runners hasn’t built up enough velocity at the lower RPM to, in laymen terms, flow itself into the cylinder when the valve opens. I guess best analogy I can think of is that with a big cam you’re expecting a large volume of fast air to come flowing in and fill the chamber void, however if it hasn’t built up enough velocity on its own accord when the valve opens then rather than the air having velocity of its own forcing itself in, it ends up being sucked in and therefore less air and less fuel = less bang. However if it was on the “eco” cam the valve doesn’t open quite as much and therefore when air and fuel is squeezed through a narrower gap it builds velocity and will rush into the chamber and end up getting a slightly bigger bang. Don’t think I’ve explained this all that great but if you think of air and fuel molecules like people in a stadium leaving an event via those narrow tunnels then it helps with understanding some of the dynamics at play. Again apologies if I’ve made a hash of explaining but basically raising the VTEC cross over point a bit higher in the rev range, closer to the stock 5.5K will make for more total area under the dyno graph which improves overall drivability in the mid range where you’d normally spend the most time in.
In 2004 I bought a brand new factory fresh 0mi '01 spec USDM B18C5 from the Mugen dealer King Motorsports here in the States. They told me the factory rotating assembly is 100% safe to 9,500rpm but the factory valve springs are only good to 9,100rpm.
YESSS JAMIE😍😍😍😍 Honda DC2 Integra baby!! I LOVE THE VTEC SOUND MAN!! Mate for this one keep it N/A man!!! Jamie, I notice that your DC2 Integra's VTEC engage about 4500rpm are quite low and definitely not standard setup. I believe that this B18C engine in terms of VTEC engagement standard is around 5700 rpm or 5800 rpm. That's the one you have to get that setup. BTW, love you are driving like an absolute champ. Keep up the good work brother👍👍💪
It's already hard to understand the accent but it makes it harder when you say expressions I'm not sure what means but It's so fun seeing you so happy in the car. ❤
Come on Jamie, I've just bought myself a K20/K24 FN2 after not having an NA car for a while so I can relate to this video hardddd, I know the DC2 is a B-Series so slightly different characteristics but VTEC nonetheless ;)
Standard redline on these is 5800rpm, they actually tuned in a slight dip before the VTEC from factory, to simulate a harder kick. People tune it out when getting a tune, but fuck that I’d keep it in.
I had a 99 Integra SIR years ago that kicked in at 4,500 rpm - it was fairly quick. Think it was also just up over 200 BHP. My 96 type r though, kicks in at 5,500, but the turbo kicks in at 3,500 😂

Stop hoggin all the tegs man 🤣🤣 sweet ride 👌
Love it when you drive them Hondas boy!!!
I know it's content but you've got the dc5 for crazy power.
Think be lots like me that would like to see some more trackday content an I've had a B16 SiR, then the mapped K20 now have a K24 frank with drop ins 260whp 200ft lb and levels ups and almost perfect, could do a touch more but it costs for there up.
Few of us on similar pace in mixed cars K24 metro, K20 EF civic, k24 frank EK/ EP
53s around brands indy is no joke and lot of fun.
Keep up the great content ❤
I drove a few of these 20 years ago and it was a very quick car, when it came on vtec it pulled really well.
Jamie, you’ll have more fun in that car if you leave it as it is. More power isn’t always a good thing.
Turbo it and you’ll not want or need to use all the revs.
Besides, you already have the monster DC5 🤷
_Raw Honda is what we love, whether it be N/A or boosted, OG’s know what it means_ ❤🙌🏼❤ … _great vid Jamie_
Yeah , the best FWD car of all time. Light and high revving. You need a white EP3 JDM to match.
Its not about having big power but about fun factor.
Sounds more like a motorbike than a car! Epic!!
Smiles per gallon! Good to see you enjoy it so much. Looking forward to your plans with it. Thanks for sharing bro 👊🏻
Lets get it gassed gang
In 2004 I bought a brand new factory fresh 0mi '01 spec USDM B18C5 from the Mugen dealer King Motorsports here in the States. They told me the factory rotating assembly is 100% safe to 9,500rpm but the factory valve springs are only good to 9,100rpm.
My former S2000 AP1 had a 9000 rpm and it was addictive. I did 9000 often. 😅
Had one of these jdm import tuned, was a rapid car the whole dashboard bangs away with wheels spin and ashtray flys out 😂
standard rpm vtec engagement is 5800
Such a clean Car...Love the 90`s styles.... How bout something different..... Fully built with heaps of NOS and no turbo!!
YESSS JAMIE😍😍😍😍 Honda
DC2 Integra baby!!
That last launch was good, bangin gears like a true honda boi
Love mine to bits. Might be about to lose it cause I got caught doing 90 in a 40! Proper license losing machine 😂
update still got it 103,000 miles service and mot coming soon wish me luck 😂
It's already hard to understand the accent but it makes it harder when you say expressions I'm not sure what means but It's so fun seeing you so happy in the car. ❤
I love it bro! Real world drivers car. I like seeing cars that a lot of us could actually afford and their potential! 💯 gang gang!
My 96 type r though, kicks in at 5,500, but the turbo kicks in at 3,500 😂
I loved how you drove a Bseries with your Kswap the world shirt
Omg Jamie I’m in love this Dc2 is wonderful, great purchase
Happy days!! 👍 The car sounds awesome reving the nuts of it 😂 imo perfect b road bashing car keeping it nailed all the time 😍
What a weapon ive been lucky enough too own an Aerodeck vti B18c4 MC2 as a daily for nearly 20,000 miles so much fun rust got it ( poor mans DC2/ id love too own a Dc2 if i had the money as there so expensive) i will never forget that Road trip from Glasgow through Glen Coe Fort William and Skye going over that Glen coe Bridge at 8000 revs was epic 🏴💨
