    Cyndi Lauper live performance of ' Money Changes Everything' from live in Paris '87 is a powerful live performance full of energy and endless high notes... Must see, perhaps a reaction video that others who haven't seen it will appreciate.

    Cindy has 8 songs that have charted without me even thinking hard.
    Girls wanna have fun.
    True colors
    Drive all night
    She Bop
    Money changes everything
    All through the night.
    Time after time
    Goonies is good enough
    And she was in We are the world.
    She's amazing . I don't think she ever lipsyinked to her own stuff it was that video and the way they edited it. The outfit she's wearing is the dress she wears in the actual video that aired on MTV though.
    Love her.

    Roy Orbison recorded this originally for his album king of hearts but sadly died before the album was finished. Jeff Lynn from elo finished the album and song was then released in 1992 3 years after Cyndi's cover of the song.

    • @sherri419
      @sherri419 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I don't think Cyndi's was a cover bc Cyndis was released first and also Cyndi didn't listen to Roy's Version (she didn't want to be influenced by it) also Cyndi's version was a hit #6 on the billboard charts so I consider both versions as originals.

      @@sherri419 That's valid. I've always considered hers a cover of his, but if she didn't listen to it first then I can see where it wouldn't be considered a cover.

      @@sherri419 it's not a simple answer the song was written by billy Steinberg for Roy Orbison and gave him the rights to the song. It was recorded and put on the album king of hearts in 1987. because of Roy's untimely death it wasn't released till after Cyndi's version, she actually had heard the song as she had to phone Roy Orbison to get permission to use it on on her next album, which if you watch interviews she does say she called Roy and asked if she could use it which Roy said yes she could use it. Not long after about 6 months later Roy Orbison died with his nearly finished album waiting for editing and release which Jeff Lynn did for him. year later after his death in 1989 Cyndi released her version so yes technically is a cover.

    • @sherri419
      @sherri419 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@baz0348 I never heard that she called him I thought he died and then the writers decided to give it to Cyndi bc Roy had died, whatever the first time I heard the song (and I assume most people heard the song) was when Cyndi released it, whatever Cyndi did say she didn't listen to Roy's version bc she didn't want to be influenced by it.

    Listening to music from the 70s and 80s has this magical way of taking me back in time. Listening to music in the 70s was such a different experience than it is now. Radio, LPs, 45s, and Cassette/8Tracks played through period devices put out a much different audio resonance than what we have today. Though Cyndi Lauper wasn't someone I personally listened to, I still remember hearing it everywhere radios were playing. Back in the early 80s "boom boxes" were the big thing and her music was one of the regulars played through them.

But the song was only released in 1992, four years after Roy Orbison's death ( Roy Orbison: I Drove All Night (1992)). So, the Cyndi Lauper's version (1989) was released before the original one.

    She was part of a rock band called "Blue Angel", but no, she is a singer-songwriter, and she is breathtaking live. She sounds exactly the same or better live (on this show, they make you lip sync), but she sounds just as good now at around 70 and on her final farewell tour now. Two top-ten albums and eight top-ten singles, plus the #1 hit "We Are the World" which she was one of many contributors, so yeah, not a one-hit-wonder. This song was her last big hit and it was a popular club song in the 1990s. "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" peaked at #2, but she did have two #1 hits: "Time After Time" (1984) and "True Colors" (1986). Her third most commercially successful song "She Bop" (1984) was incredibly controversial since it dealt with...um...self-pleasure. That song was one of the "Filthy Fifteen" that the Parents Music Resource Center League of But For the Grace of God Go I Society used to attack the recording industry, the result of which are those little "Parental Advisory" stickers that now grace album covers telling kids which albums have the "good stuff" on them...thanks PMRC!

    1st - this is definitely lip synced. (as with all of these music shows. The artists rarely sing live. As you see she has no band on stage.) This is the original recording she is miming to. She has the same hair and dress on that she is wearing in the original official video. I believe this was from 1989 ish. Almost all official music videos are lip synced. That's a fact. Unless it's a live version. You should here here live. I was lucky enough to see her about 7 times live and her voice and show were always incredible.
    The song "I Drove All Night" has a few interesting stories behind it:
    Cyndi Lauper's version
    American singer and songwriter Cyndi Lauper recorded "I Drove All Night" for her 1989 album A Night to Remember. Lauper said she liked the idea of a woman driving and being in control. The song was a top 10 hit in the US and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance.
    Roy Orbison's version
    The song was originally written for Roy Orbison, who recorded it in 1987 but didn't release it until 1992, four years after his death. Orbison's version became a top 5 pop hit.
    Lauper's request
    Lauper asked Orbison if she could record the song for her album, and he was okay with it. This means that the general public first heard the song as a Cyndi Lauper song.
    Additional info:
    "I Drove All Night" is a song written and composed by American songwriters Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly and originally intended for Roy Orbison. Orbison recorded the song in 1987, the year before his death, but his version was not released until 1992. Cyndi Lauper recorded the song and released it as a single for her A Night to Remember album. Her version became a top 10 hit on both sides of the Atlantic in 1989 and was also her final top 40 hit on the American pop charts. Lauper still regularly performs the song in her live concerts. The song has also been covered by Canadian singer Celine Dion, whose version topped the Canadian Singles Chart and reached number 7 on the US Adult Contemporary chart in 2003.

    As far as lip syncing, you do realize that almost every video you see is the artist performing while the original studio recording is being played... right? Even bands that are playing instruments and singing in a video is just a performance with the studio recording dubbed over. You know that right? The exception is a concert or unplugged or something.
    And then you get into real Backstreet Boy territory with Taylor Swift. You are basically hearing a recording and backup singers and just a touch of her voice even if you went to see her perform live in concert. She can literally put the microphone down and take a drink or talk to someone and you will not notice a difference in the song at all unless you listen really closely. The only cases where you get live audio is where it is a live performance and then you have to be careful (see Taylor Swift).
