I know im 4 years late but please try to reply. At my school every student must take the subject mandarin from year 7 and up. But most of us haven't learned chinese before, and all of the students that dont know chinese are just expected to fail and its not really a big deal. Hi Omam, I do not remember my grades as this was a long time ago. I do think my annual reports were 85% or above though. As for the time they take to notify you, it should be around two to three weeks. Lastly, selected students will travel to the US in August, 2020. Good luck!

@@muskanzehra7201 We the class of 2020-21 will be going late this year due to this pandemic. I think for the most I know you apply to YES in October. So whenever you are applying make sure that your age should be 15 - 17 at the time you will go to USA which is usually the next year after you selected in the month of August. So for 2007 born students if you will apply in 2022 or 23 you are eligible. The year you will apply in, then contact me I will explain the whole process.

The studies in the U.S. will not be considered for your formal school education in Pakistan. I would not call it wasting a year, as you will learn so much during this year should you get selected. There are many benefits of being a YES student, in fact there are so many that I will probably make a video on them. Stay tuned!

Hello! American Host Mom here. My suggestions of things to focus on to have a great experience: 1) English . 2) Be the best student you can be. 3.) Get involved in clubs and activities that interest you. Try new things. 4.) Get involved in your community. 5.) Learn how to cook a complete meal. 6.)Learn how to wash your own laundry. 7.) Practice public speaking. 8.) Don't think about it as a prize to be won, but more demonstrating that you are becoming an independent young person who can leave everything familiar behind for a year and adapt and thrive.
