Elton John teaming up with Lennon and going on tour together could've drawn huge back in the day!💸🤔

John was one to always freely change his mind & good on him. That was John.

I don't blame John one bit. He's right really, everyone would just see it as a Beatles reunion and that's something that they we're trying to get away from. The wounds were still fresh.

yes - I agree. Wanting to individuate from the Beatles was painful all the way around. What he was going towards was upsetting too in part because he was so immersed personally and musically with Yoko, and there wasn't much support for that for sure.

The Beatles were such a unit - a singular- that if there was any project or tour intention that involved one or two of them getting together to do something, it would be immediately be a "Beatles" thing and the press probably egged that on. After the Beatles break up, they had not yet established themselves as individual artists so much so that if they wanted to pitch in for each other and play here or there (public performances), it would not be seen as a "Beatles" tease. Even when they got together as friends - it was such a big stir. I don't remember that happening so much if they would support each other for recordings / records. I think this is why artists that were a part of phenomenal groups so harshly reject their histories for a time because the want to move on and evolve, and we want to hold on. I can see both sides of this. Even John became softer on the Beatles and more accepting of his own history with them once he achieved some separation.

It gave George a chance to come to the foreground!!!! And he deserved it.

John sounds jealous of George's success with Bangladesh Concert.

If a packaged tour involved what it did- George- I think it was more about the Beatles tease or he simply wanting the tour to be his as an artist.

You never know with John, was he being lazy, didn't he fancy it, did he want to do it but there was always that Beatles getting together again thing to deal with. Paul was certainly invited but declined because of Allen Klein.

He wasn't "jealous" of George's "success", he wanted to be there because it sounded like a good time, and for a good cause (which is what Lennon was very much about in the '69-'72 period). Clearly playing with Dylan and Leon Russell was the draw. If he was "jealous" of anyone, it was probably Dylan. The Bangla Desh concert's coup d'gras was getting Bob Dylan out of semi-retirement to do a short set. That's what everyone wrote about the next day and was a big feature of both the film and the album. John would have been accorded that same type of "royalty" status and media attention. The Beatles semi-reuniting AND Dylan coming out to do a short set, that would have been the biggest thing ever in 1971. (or NOW).
