A bit about the cameras. They were set up for and by the company Vic Firth who I work for in Boston. We make the drum sticks Danny uses. The video is shot at TD Garden in Boston. Its purpose is marketing for the different series of sticks we sell for our TH-cam channel. I was the one who set up the forward camera for this video. Danny is a world class drummer and is a very nice man. We had our own suite at this show.

My brother is a lifelong drummer, and I am a 30+ year TOOL psychopath. I would do some crazy stuff to get a set of autographed Vic Firth Danny Cary sticks. ….just sayin

Danny turns 62 this year. And he still plays like he’s 22. He is the greatest living drummer. And is in the conversation for goat.

Best comment I’ve ever seen said: “legend has it that Danny made a deal with the devil. Nobody knows what Danny got but the devil got drum lessons”. 😆 Genius
Its likeDanny was a drummer in a dozen past lives… all over the world. And we are blessed to be able to witness the culmination of all of those lives in the Danny of today.
He has no equal. No one even close, in my opinion.

Yup, I still vividly remember my first Tool concert, back in 1997. I was completely sober, but I totally spaced out and basically forgot everything and everyone around me. It's a memory I'll never forget. I'll see them live again in May (Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam), for the 8th time, and as always I'll be spacing out again...

You know @@SaeedReacts., do yourself a favour and find a way to see them live. They're brilliant live, and though you will barely see Maynard, hidden somewhere in the shadows most of the time, you'll be busy taking in the awesome, trippy visuals anyway. They're touring Europe this May and June. They'll be at Graspop, but while still cool, it won't be the same as a regular gig.

Most people are impressed by the hard explosive fills and while it is impressive he finds his way back in the rhythm effortlessly, what is more astonishing to me is, in your video it is around the 8 minutes timestamp, each of his 4 limbs place a different time signature. Imagine and if you would like try to sit down your right hand rubs your belly in circles your left hand taps the top of your up down movements, your right leg swings back and forth and your left lack swings in circles. Now imagine every limb does his part in a different frequency than the others and now imagine hitting small targets that lay just outside the normal area of the movement at certain time with a certain force. That is exactly what he is doing there.
And this guy is 60yrs of age

"Pneuma" is a ancient Greek word for "breath" or "spirit". We have many English words that incorporate it - like pneumatic (drill) or pneumonia (infection of the lungs). The Bible also alludes to this idea in Genesis, when God breathed the "breath of life" into Adam.
Lots of Tool songs are very spiritual. 46&2, Lateralus, Invincible to name a few.

Danny helped design that pad that makes all those “non traditional” drum kit sounds. He can play four different time signatures at once. It’s said if he didn’t have his shorts on he could play 5 😂…. Nice reaction… you will come away from the live Sober video with the same respect for Maynard that you came away from this one for Danny!!!! Enjoy 👍

Dare is a monster I’m sure you know they called the octopus and now you see why but you said this is the only live TOOL song you’ve done? Have you not done TOOL sober live? Where he’s wearing the pink pajama jumpsuit? If not you gotta watch that one that’s the one thatbasically made them famous. I can’t remember where the festival was at I think it was somewhere over by the UK or I can’t remember but there’s so many people there and they come out and put on the performance he gets into character holy moly people are mesmerized. I had the fortune of seeing them in Philadelphia in 1991 or 92. My older brother is a musician. He took me it was like a battle of the band. In like a basement that l was a bar in different bands played and when these guys played I was Godsmack you could tell right away they were different like it was crazy and they were so young like I mean I was so young I was like 1516 had a fake ID anyway they might’ve been early 20s but Maynard had a mullet and he was up there the guys intense he was so intense man explain anyway 35 years later here we are. Anyway, in English it’s pronounced. New ma kinda like pneumonia but also referring to the lungs except he’s referring to it as your first breath being born into the world and sometimes pneumonia is referring to your last breath if you get that illness. Where Danny is a master and his classically trained I don’t know too much about drumming, but there’s different styles right and he’s proficient and several of them is trained with some of the best drummers in the world all different continents but those noises you can’t explain when you’re listening to TOOL you’re like what the hell instrument is that but just about every single one of them is coming from him on the tablet of pads and the pads that you put on top of your kit that had different sounds.Tabula I think is the correct spelling only one song and their songs are like 9 to 12 minutes of peace bro talk about Stan Ama I think he was 57 or 58 when they shot this and with one leg he’s doing the bass on his other leg. He’s doing the snare symbol then he’s got both arms going. He’s doing the figure 8 with the right hand, and then he starts doing it reverse with the right hand. Law is left-hand is hitting the other germs. He’s literally doing four different things going for different directions at the same time. No I don’t play drums, but I know people that do all of my good friends is in a Dave Matthews cover band and they didn’t answer who was the drummer is sick and I was all right. He’s an amazing drummer and he said he tried this song and he’s been playing for 30 years. He said forget it dude I just gave up. And you really are getting there and you’re getting there fast buddy I love your channel you don’t try and do too much. You just keep it real. You’re very honest and relatable. You got some funny quirky jokes you talk a little bit about your life it’s cool man you do a great job, enjoy your channel

i'd say danny is top three best drummers in the world... but the beauty of tool is that i'd also say that justin chancellor is top three bassists in the world, adam jones is top three guitarists in the world, and that maynard is top three singers in the world. and i'm comparing all styles of music when i say that. an impressive group. more impressive than any other that have ever lived imo.

Ok, so I’ll stop messing with you soon, but as we wait, and anticipate maybe closing out the Undertow album with the title track, I wanted to give you some cheat codes to help with your reaction, when it comes.
In the song Undertow, he changes the lyrics a bit every time first referring to a voice that starts out twice as clear as heaven, twice as loud a reason, deep and rich like silt on a riverbed (that’s a bar!)…. But as the undertow pulls him down, again and again, his perception to the u deleting g force that keep pulling him down changes to things like “cold black water, half as high as heaven, half as clear as reason”…. Poetically describing the changes in his feelings as each failure to climb out of the pattern. Meanwhile, the song references sections during the breakdown of Euphoria, as if he is trying to find it, the internal struggle raging, until the song breaks down and the music and vocals make you feel like you are being pulled down while screaming out a desire for Euphoria.
It’s such an intricate track sonically and lyrically, you could fill a whole whiteboard. It most importantly, especially with a basic understanding going into it, you’re going to really FEEL it.
    Look forward to it!
Keep up the good work man!

@@SaeedReacts. their most popular song is Killing in the Name. It’s not as poetic as most of their other work, but it’s a good starting place. It’s an anthem against police brutality, they’ve been standing up for the marginalized since the 90’s.
I recommend always having the lyrics up, the lead singer can be hard to understand, and it’s easy to miss a lot of info.
