  • My Suzuki Vitara got stuck in the sand.
    And I am the one to blame for it. So now I must recover my beloved Suzuki from the troubles I put her in.
    Index:
    00:15 How to get stuck in sand with class
    01:43 How to dig out car from it

    I happen to drive on sand, living close to the seaside. The sand is more stable where it has already been pressed and not on the side. So I think you experienced a problem due to the choice of trajectory. Under this situation, I generally drive with 4x4 lock mode and with control traction disabled.

      I agree, this time I over complicated driving by side of the road. This was kind of lesson/experiment learned in more-less safe environment for me. ;)
      But it was even not a matter of more lose ground on the side of the road, left front wheel did not loose traction at all.
      So the choice of the side of the road was not bad in this case.
      But that whole power and weight went to the front right wheel due to the position(tilt) of the car.
      That is why it started to dig in. Too less traction on right front, to move the whole car weight.

    I've got the same car. You should try to engage LOCK and press the accelerator pedal for a longer time. It should engage all wheels.

      In such situations I use LOCK always, but tend to forgot to switch off ESP.
      But as I told in Video, it was digging in too fast and in no time full front was laying on the ground. Probably too heavy to drag it only by one wheel.

      @@OutdoorAdventure0 Airing down will help a lot on sand, mud, snow, rocks, etc (and even once you're stuck, you may be able to get out if you air down a lot). At least sand is easy enough to shovel (and also to use traction boards). I dread the day when I get stuck in mud...yikes.

      @ZookOffRoad-l3k True. Letting some air out, probably would help.
      Same for me with mud, worst nightmare ;)

    Have you found a way to install rated recovery points on this car? I don't think the tow points would support the kind of force needed in a recovery from deep mud, deep snow, a ditch, etc (I'm pretty sure they'd be ripped out and take parts of the chassis with them). Any ideas? All I have are traction boards (which are useful as a bridge too; luckily I haven't got stuck in mud yet!), and of course tow straps and snatch strap, etc... but if I do get stuck and can't get out on my own, the problem will be where to attach them.

    • @joergarms1

      At the front there are 2 recovery points.
      I do have a towbar, so in case I got stuck, I can use that at the rear.

    • @OutdoorAdventure0

      In front in fact you have one point where you can screw the hook, but other one where is it?
      Also in the manual they do not recommend to use this one in front for "dynamic" pulling.
      In the back I use "hooks" used for "from factory transport". They are not good for dynamic pooling, but for static pooling like with winch they probably will survive (like in video).
      Tow bar probably would be best choice.

    • @ZookOffRoad-l3k

      @@OutdoorAdventure0 Yeah, the problem is neither the front (screw in) hook nor the rear tie down points are meant for recovery, they aren't gonna survive such force.

    • @ZookOffRoad-l3k

      @@joergarms1 Those are not recovery points, just tie down points for transport and a tow point (for on road towing). Neither of those will support anywhere near the force generated in an off-road recovery. Tow bar isn't very safe for recovery either but will likely be ok if one is careful. I don't do any towing but need to figure out how and where one could install proper recovery points. There is no way to mount a winch on this car; neither a winch nor rated recovery points is a recipe for disaster, sooner or later.

    • @OutdoorAdventure0

      If you have idea for better points in the rear... Would be great, but I don't see any other option. Rear tow hook should work for static pooling well enough.

      You have it together with other buttons(i.e. Auto Start Off). It is icon with Car leaving curved traces and word "Off". You need to long press it to have ESP off indicator turned on in Dashbord.

    Hi , i have same car. Only issue is ground clearance :(

      Asta nu este o problemă! Instalați cauciucuri 215/60 R17 +1.1cm și Eibach Pro-Kit springs +2.5cm
      Veți primi 18.5cm+1.1cm+2.5cm= 22.1cm ce este suficient.

      @@BazileVasile I have already did this upgrades. ( Falken Wildpeak 215/60/17 and eibach +2.5) Also installed front and rear (dif) protection.( Rear protection unfortunately lowers the car.) Still not enough for me

      Ostatnio myje nawet zawieszenie.
