Thanks a lot for your explanation ... Where did you find the positive wire ? In the left tail but , wich color is it ? Red also ? Difficult to see that

Ok this is a bit funny but here it goes. Initially I found a thin red wire that gave me a light whenever I turned the ignition on which gave me a reason to believe it's a live wire but it turned out it was not. What I actually found was a wire that powered the left taillight, so whenever the lights were switched on everything would work as intended.
Now since the car has automatic lights that get switched on based on day/night sensor, and since I was working inside a garage the whole time, every time I turned on the ignition the lights would automatically turn on as well so everything seemed to be working correctly. It was only a couple days later I figured out what the actual issue was, and it was exactly that, that the trailer socket worked only when the lights were turned on.
After that I decided to undo some of the work, and just connect the positive wire directly to the battery. I had more than enough wire to pull it through the side trim (plastic) right to the battery up front, which unfortunately is not in the video. I still believe there's supposed to be a live wire back in the trunk somewhere but at that point I just gave up on finding it and decided to go with the safest route. Anyways, everything works perfect now.

When you have LED tail lights these cheap red connectors will not work. And you connect old style 7 port plug. Modern cars use the 13 port plug. If you use these older connectors you get problems on your dashbord.

@@Coordinator61 Thanks for the comment, everything works fine though and there's always an option to use an adapter to convert if necessary. Cheers
