You are correct, George Strait did define what was Country music from the early 80's and thru the 90's. Alan Jackson, Randy Travis and even Garth Brooks owe their success to the following that George Strait started.
Cheyenne Wyoming is known as the Daddy of all rodeos. George is a roper to this day. He sponsors and competes still. He has a ranch in Texas that he still works. King George is awesome ❤
Sorry, about the whiskey. 😂 And of course I want your honest and true opinion. I was actually laughing my ass off. 😂 Thank you for the reaction! And it’s the first really bad German whiskey I’ve sent you. And like I said, the options are kinda limited. So I’m sorry again! I hope the beer is making up for it and the chocolate too. But now I know why that whiskey was so cheap. 😂😂 I hope you are enjoying the rest of that package and you wimminz too. And Dustin! Your German was fantastic! Wow! I understood you perfectly! Really impressive!
He's the King cause he can captivate a whole arena just by standing still and singing into a microphone. Not like other singers who have to jump all around the stage to entertain the fans.
George Strait has 61 #1 songs….he is called The King for a reason…I’ve lived in South Texas my whole life….he is absolutely the most humble and kind person ever.
Yep! He has been dubbed “The King of Country “ or “King George “ and it’s not because he didn’t earn it. You’re right about a generation that thinks this is country music, I’m one of them!
There's a reason he has a greatest hits album with 50 number ones on it and it required a sequel with 22 more great hits on it. I think those came out in the late 90s or early 00s. He could probably do one more at this point.
@dalcaY that one too. He released a 2-cd set that included all 50 #1 hits he had and then released a sequel cd set that included 22 of his greatest hits that didn't reach #1. They were 50 #1 Hits and 22 More Hits.
I favor George's early songs, but then, I'm closer to his age, too. Blame it on Mexico and Marina Del Rey are two of my favorites. In the late 70's, the beer joints were packed when Ace in the Hole came to play. Barely any room on the dancefloor.
I don’t know if you guys know or not but he just dropped a new song called “ MIA” and “The Little Things” and has an album coming out in September at age 72❤️👍
So happy you are doing another King George song. He’s my all time male country singer. He gets me all up in my feels. 🥹 Memories of days past with my Mom going to his concerts, he’s so awesome live!
Another great rodeo song is"You Can't Be A Cowboy Forever" by Aaron Watson. Also "Everything That Glitters Is Not Gold" by Dan Seals. A lighter one by George Strait is "You Know Me Better Than That"!
Yes, he absolutely defined what good country music sounds like and this is why so many true country fans aren’t a fan of country music (or what they’re claiming as country music) today!!!
George Strait served in the Army from 71-75. He enlisted at a infantryman. He was turned down by every label in Nashville, saying he was to country. MCA made him a single deal and it went to number 6, in 1981. So they considered doing an album.
They always say that a Cowboys mistress is the rodeo. Another song by a true Cowboy that loved the rodeo listen to Cody Johnson Dear Rodeo featuring Reba McEntire. For that one you have to do the original video to get the full scope of what Cody and Reba are both singing about
Another great George song is Kicked Outta Country. It was written by George and Jamey Johnson about how they can’t get played on the radio. But that Willie, Waylon, and Johnny Cash got kicked out too and it didn’t hurt them either.
You nailed it when you said George Strait defined country for a whole generation. He's always been my personal definition of what I consider country. Randy Travis and Alan Jackson could also fit in there as having a similar influence. It's why I started losing interest in mainstream country when it started changing around 2004 and why I can't stand post 2012 mainstream country in general. For the most part, it's no longer the country I always knew and loved. Btw, glad you guys enjoyed this song! One of my all time favorites.
Here's another suggestion for another artist I believe you've reacted to before and seemed to enjoy their tunes. So, if interested give this one a listen. "Jonny Paycheck - The Old Violin" (by the channel: Johnny Paycheck -Topic) --Jonny Paycheck was an American country music singer/songwriter and Grand Ole' Opry member. He achieved his greatest success in the 1970's as a force in country music's "Outlaw Movement" popularized by artists such as Hank Williams Jr., Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Meryl Haggard just to name a few. 💯
George Strait is absolutely the standard by which all Country Music is judged. I'm 38 and you are 100% correct, if it's ain't like George it ain't Country. It doesn't matter if you're standing next to 110,000 other people (He holds the record for largest stadium crowd) or in a small local rodeo or beer hall, he sounds exactly the same. Any recording from this concert is great. You guys absolutely need to react to George Strait - The Chair. Preferably going in blind.
You should check out a song by Ernest and Lainey wilson "would if I could " it was written 40 years ago and was just sat on until now. It sounds as traditional as can be. Such a great song
George and Alan Jackson sang a song called Murder on music row, which is critical of the "pop" style country music vs traditional which George and others keep true. Not sure if you reacted to that in the past.
Strait is the king of country. By the way I know this isn’t a George Strait song but I think you both would enjoy a song called “Little Bitty” by Alan Jackson. It’s a gem!!
Listen to his 50 Number Ones album. From the first number 1 to the 50th, you can see the evolution of country simply through one person. He is the gold, platinum, whatever standard there is for country.
The guy in the song lost his girl Because of the rodeo When she told him “goodbye” the first thing in his mind was oh well I can still make Cheyenne… the next rodeo
you guys need to do some Johnny Horton another OG who died way to young, similar to Marty Robbins except Johnny's songs tend to be based on history instead of westerns, the battle of New Orleans, Sink the bismark, North to Alaska, and springtime in Alaska plus " honky tonk man" he also married Hank sr's ex wife.
I could sit for hours with this song on repeat. The interesting thing about listening to it this time was I closed my eyes at the end listening to the fiddle play out. When it ended, the next image I saw was “…to be continued”. There are all these questions. Did he make it to Cheyenne? Does he try to call her again? I want more of the story damn it!!! Haha Good job guys. Take care!!
This song was about Lane Frost. He was killed riding a bull. He was one of the best riders at the time. The movie 8 Seconds is also about Lane Frost. George Strait used to ride broncs before he became the King. Great reaction guys ❤
I have never heard George rode broncs. He has been a roper ever since high school. And never heard this song was about Lane Frost. It's a song about the break-up of a rodeo cowboy and his girlfriend. Doesn't mention if he was bronc, bull, or saddlebronc rider.
@@kristinkeiner6547 actually if you Google songs about Lane Frost this is the first song that comes up as well as other artists who have done songs about Lane.
@stevebournite184, I’m not buying that crab Whiskey again. You can, when you come to Germany! 😂 I just hope the chocolate and beer made it up to the guys. 😅
This song was actually western. There's a difference between Country and Western. Garth also sings a lot of western. For an old school western react to El Paso by Marty Robbins.
KIETH YOU’RE KILLIN ME. George's style was so traditional everybody refers to his music as "Strait Country". He is absolutely the King.
George Strait had a song on the Top 100 Country Singles every week from 1981 until sometime in the 2010's.
And filled Texas A&M Kyle Field with over 110,000 fans a couple of weeks ago. Amazing. Sorry, already noted below.
George Strait is pure class and real country.
Yep! He has been dubbed “The King of Country “ or “King George “ and it’s not because he didn’t earn it. You’re right about a generation that thinks this is country music, I’m one of them!
The video you are showing of George was shot in 2002 at the final event ever held in the Houston Astrodome.
King George awesome as always! His voice is an absolute treasure.
George Strait is one of my favorite singers. My favorite song of his is Love Without End. Or Check Yes Or No. Thanks for reacting to him
This was an awsome song.King George doesn't have a bad song. Not only is he the King of country. He is the King of cowboy music.
