I thought y'all were pranking us again! 😂 Still an incredible song! Hopefully the wrong title is a sneak preview of a future reaction! I'm starting to like Jelly Roll. At first I wasn't so sure about him, but he is really growing on me.
This song is a cry to save the everglades. Personally, this song gives me goosebumps everytime. I believe this is the most emotional plea to save the everglades I have ever heard.
I go back home orange lake.. micanopy .. and it's not the same! We're still in Florida just on the Florida Georgia line. This old woman has seen many changes to our beautiful state. 😢
This song makes me cry when I hear it, hearing that Indian cry from my grandma…no other sound compares! So much respect for John Anderson for capturing this so well.
John Anderson is a very entertaining singer. A couple of my favorite songs by him are: Black Sheep Ol' Chunk o' Coal His mega hit was "Swingin' " A very fun reaction. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you guys enjoyed the song. John Anderson has some great songs - Swingin’, Black Sheep of the Family. And with the Bellamy Brothers- No Country Music for Old Men.
I absolutely love this song! As a Floridian, this song hits home on so many levels. I’m not from the Seminole tribe, but it still hits in the feels. If you can find it, you should try to look up the music video. It hits harder because there’s footage of the tribe throughout. Thank you guys for such an honest reaction!
Nice reaction yall. John did a wonderful job of talking about the destruction of Native American lands in a moving way that doesn't get people's dander up. Bend it Until It Breaks and Swinging are two of his many great songs and he recently collaborated with the Bellamy Brothers on No Country For Old Men which is awesome.
This song is special to me my Great Great Great Grandma was full blood Seminole. I remember being told stories as a child. One my grandparents told me the government sent them to Florida hoping the alligators would get them. I went to my room and cried myself to sleep. Had they got her and my ansestors I wouldn’t be here today.

You would have no idea this areas history by looking at it. We stripped the history away. If the seminoles saws this area now, they absolutely would cry.
I love John Anderson and this is one of my favorite songs. It just pulls at the wild side of your heart. Watching you listen to it, you could see the moment that first note grabbed you. That is what it does to me, every time. And I am from the PNW. JA's stuff. "Straight Tequila Night." "Swing'n" also there is a song by the Bellamy Brothers ft John Anderson, called "No Country Music for Old Men" that you should look for. As far as Jason Isbell "Cover Me Up" "King of Oklahoma" and "Last of My Kind" Chris Stapleton: "You Should Probably Leave", "Broken Halos", Starting Over." also, once you do the Bellamy Brothers you will want more so... "Let Your Love Flow." "If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body, Would You Hold It Against Me" Great job guys.
I have no idea how I missed this upload. This is my childhood. I probably listened to this song at least three times a car ride if my father was driving. I drove people crazy because I’d hum it all the time. There is just something about this instrumental that relaxes me and makes me really happy at the same time. Full disclosure: I’m a Floridian from birth. So I really appreciate the message of the song too.
Kathy here - the song mentions "the Okeechobee up to Micanopy, those are both cities in the Seminole Reservation area, near the everglades. He was trying to bring awareness to the way the everglades were being destroyed.
Huge fan of our local Country Singer. Right here in Apopka Florida where he is from. We got to see him in concert right here for free. Just a few years ago, and what a day I will cherish. Mr. John Anderson is a treasured figure here.
John Anderson - Swinging is another great song. It's not sentimental like this one though. She Just Started Liking Cheating Songs is good. Black Sheep is fun. Straight Tequila Night is fantastic. He was part of the Maverick Choir from the Mel Gibson Movie for Amazing Grace, which is a fantastic rendition. I Wish I Could Have Been There is another GREAT song.
John Anderson is great I knew you would like this one because all the instruments my Favorite song of his always been I wish I would have been there. It doesnt have all the instruments but still a good song but anything of his is pretty good
Check out Straight Tequila Night, I Wish I Could Have Been There and Swingin' just to name a few. As a Florida gal, born and raised, this song is one I have always loved. The ending especially has such a haunting sound to it. And John Anderson is someone you should listen to more from. I listed a couple, but Straight Tequila Night is one of his more popular songs.
This song is a unique song on so many levels, but even in John Andersons catalog he has nothing else like this in my personal opinion. I was kid when this came out and it was haunting before I even knew what it was about, even more so when you learn it’s story.
Thank y'all for this one. My Memaw and Papaw loved John Anderson. ... Swingin' was one of Papaw's favorites. I remember bein at the pool hall in the kids' area, droppin a quarter in the jukebox playing any and all John Anderson songs on there. Ah the good ol' days.
Another absolutely amazing artist. So SO many fantastic songs. Here's some great ones by him: 1959, I Wish I Could Have Been There , Years, I Fell In The Water, Let Go of the Stone, Black Sheep, When It Comes To You, No Country For Old Men with the Bellamy Brothers, Straight Tequila Night, Tuesday I'll Be Gone with Blake Shelton, and Long Hard Lesson. I could literally go on and on, as there are so many.
One of my favorite songs. My husband's family ( therefore my children & grandchildren) are native American. This song makes me feel like a stretch of Rt 17 between Tappahannock & Fredericksburg Virginia. A lot of the land along the highway is in land trusts so it can't be developed. When he mentions micanopy I've been there several times small quiet town outside of Gainesville by the swamp and it was the filming location of the classic Michael j fox movie doc Hollywood. The town still looks the same.
Lake Okeechobbee, I believe, is like the 2nd largest freshwater lake in the contiguous US. My friend and I camped there once, a long time ago and the size was amazing. We had to play around with staking the tent on one side, because of the wind coming in from the lake pushed in the canvas of the tent.
Florida folk defines it perfectly as a Floridian I commend you both and it also makes me feel like I'm from the glades though I was born and raised in the Ocala national forest which is quite another animal

This has always been one of my favorite John Anderson songs, and I believe it's one of his all time best ones. Anderson has actually been around since the late 70s and was one of the first of the "new traditionalists", but his career fell into a bit of a commercial slump from the mid-late 80s. Great reaction to one of my top 10 favorite songs ( Thank you Sheila!!). The panhandle is a very nice place to live, the people are awesome. One of the odd truisms about Florida is that the further north you are, the farther south you've gotten. One of my great Uncles, lived in Aripeka, he used to tell me I sounded like a 'damn Yankee'. I would suggest another big hit from the same album to react to called 'Straight Tequila Night'.👍
I've always loved this song. It hits home more after I learned that my lineage is primarily Muskogee. Both Creek and Seminole are Muskogee, with the majority of the separation having been forced by the US government, so they could steal our lands. Traditionally, they greet one another using a term for "brother" or "sister" in similar context to how people use the terms in churches.

As a Floridain growing up in Florida. This song rings ture for most. Change in life is a must but I can remember when the With Lacoochee river flowed deep. Now it's barely a stream in a lot of places. I am caught between keeping the land as it was and progress. We must pay a price for newer things.
