The red boat is far more useful as a family outing runabout. And the big block will be a new chapter in drag racing.
Finnegan is one of the few people that you can actually believe when his For Sale ad says " don't try to low-ball me, I know what I got" . . . And the level of detail cleaning up something already sold is awesome. No two year old French fries and 1/2 melted Skittles under these seats.
@24:20 let the new owner know they can use the oven cleaner ( Easy-Off oven cleaner) to pull the lettering they don't want to keep on the boat... it will not hurt the boats gelcoat and they only needs to leave it on until the lettering starts to Wrinkle!!!! Just wash it off with water and the lettering paint will disappear, they may need to buff it afterwards because of the shadows the paint on top of the paint leaves from being in the sun !!! Im a pinstriper and sign painter of 17+ years and have used it a bunch of times to pull other pin stripers crappy work off and put mine on..

You are absolutely correct about the torch. I’ve always had one in my toolbox at work. I depend on it at work. So when they get worn I get new and bring the old one home. My entire family definitely knows my love for torches and fire. And my name is Mike. So I got that going for me!

Any heavy mechanic finds themselves looking the galled stainless stud in the eye now and them..Heat with a map torch, and apply antiseize while it's hot! It melts to a liquid immediately, and some of it get pulled into the threads by capilary action. It's a good opening move that often avoids the galling issues.
Losing your "right hand man" is tough. Not only is it more work for you, but the absence of them sharing all the trials and tribulations of the project(s) is the hardest part. I'm dealing with a "right hand man" availability... My project(s) will continue on, just find going out to the shop not as fun. Anyway, Thank's for sharing your projects and adventures.

It's a really cool jet boat build. Your reasons for parting with it are true. For racing or just playing around on a lake, nothing beats a basic big block drag boat with a tunnel ram and lots of bling.
As a drag week mega fan (even though I've never been) I am on board with this plan. Be happy that game over got completed and ripped around working great. No shame in moving on. Looking forward to more drag car builds and any other boat builds lol.
I wish you would have fired it up one last time, yes counter productive as it will get hot, but the amazing sound it produces is its own....looking forward to what it will be going into!
Along with Alex Taylor, Steve Morris, Tom Bailey,.. There has to be some wry amusement in seeing grassroots drag racing being driven forward in popularity by a group of youtubers having fun, rather then the big names of the sport at major brand name events. Think if I was going to play tourist and do a driving holiday, I'd rather go see some of the drag week events then some of the Top Fuel meets.
Although I really enjoyed following the build, I always thought that without a safety capsule, that thing was kind of sketchy, something a guy with a family should really think about driving. As a drag racer, I really look forward to seeing your next build with the Sonny Lenard Hemi. 200mph is a goal of mine also, I have a ways to go though, been 161 mph so far, probably going to put nitrous in my car this winter.
Funny how you hit that point in life, I had a 68 GTO that was my dream car as a kid. I bought it from the original owner, it was numbers matching and rough. I messed with it for 20 years drag racing it and daily driving it before I decided to turn it loose. I knew keeping it original was the right thing to do and that wasn't me thing. My wife was floored when I told her it was going away but I had made up my mind. After it was gone I never looked back or regretted it.
That's a lucky man getting that boat. It is just beautiful. Onward and upward! Can't wait to see the next project but I can't help but think you're not realizing your full potential. You're so smart and skilled you could do anything. That's just my opinion. Aint worth much. Thanks Mike.

Hey Mike, Stainless is NOT your friend for exhaust bolts.. High carbon bolts with copper antisieze on big turbo diesels... so turbo anything if you want industrial standard. Usually no threaded housings & staked nuts with thick flat washers, so single use bolts that can be gas axed off when necessary, the flat washer put where you want a sacrificial barrier for the housing when using the oxy torch. cheers

I always use nickel anti-seize on exhaust stuff. Works well with high heat and dissimilar metals. A little more expensive, but beats busting out the drills
Sometimes it's very hard to say goodbye so i can imagine this wasn't an easy decision to make. But i'm looking forward to what sounds like a Blasphemi 2.0.
That's something a lesson that a lot of people could learn. Next time you snap a bolt off start a timer when you have to deal with the snapped off bolt. See how long it actually takes you to get that hole restored. However long it is I can pretty much guarantee you it's more time than it would have taken to gently work the bolt out using heat, penetrant and patience.

I work for an oven/furnace manufacturer. Sry for my english in advance. We experience your exact issue with stainless bolt in stainless thread in the hot/cold treatment everyday. Quick tip. The bore for your thread, drill it 1/10 mm bigger than you normally would and apply heat resitant grease. We use something from FUCHs that is leveled at 280°C use. It does not solved the problem completely. But reduces it radically

Jesus!!! I forgot how Huge that motor is!! Omg!! And yes.. that intake with the 120mm( which is 5” !!) throttle body is a beautiful piece of fabrication!! It’s like the side intakes on 4 cylinders with the throttle body and angled intake…. That thing had a TON of air going thru it!! Wow. The charge tube going thru the intakes is cool! Almost like some Porsche /Penske looking stuff.
It was a cool project but as they say it's "GAME OVER" for game over! To say the next build will be cool is a understatement because it will have Sonny's heartbeat in it ❤

I’ve been there. You get way more into the idea of the project when your deep in the middle of it that when you finally finish it, the sum of the labor just doesn’t do it for you like you thought it would.

I have to again say a MUCH appreciative THANK YOU to YOU Mr. Finnegan!! When I was a youngster, I was the "flashlight holder" for my Dad when he tried to do mechanical work in our gravel floor garage. To this day, I remember that bolt that wouldn't budge and got its head stripped or broke off or the tiny part that accidently fell and hearing it go tink, tink, tink as it plummeted somewhere never to be seen again. My Dad getting FURIOUS and throwing whatever tool he had in hand and saying "It's ALWAYS something!!!!" (I had a secondary job of thrown tool fetcher too LOL!). I thank you for coming up against these types of issues but keeping a cool head of acceptance and just going to the next step to unravel and fix the unforeseen problem. It is a fine example to myself and those of us not so gifted with your mechanical abilities. It keeps me coming back to your posts and always will Sir. Can't wait to see the return of the Caddy adventures and the new Game Over motor project!!
6:47 My brother works in the aerospace industry, and he told me that they coat bolt threads with an epoxy primer to help prevent galvanic corrosion. Not sure if that helps with boat turbos or not but I was just talking to him about this problem.
I use my benzomatic torch constantly, mostly for lighting my charcoal grill but I have definitely also used it for fireworks and maube even my bomg in a pinch.

Mike, if you want to go fast on the water you need to race a flat bottom drag boat. Many years ago I stepped up from a Nordic pickle fork w/jet drive to a 1972 Hondo 5/8 runner bottom. I went faster in the Hondo on 1/2 the motor than my Nordic ever did.

That would be a cool thing, what can you go racing with and in with that Sonny Leonard engine. Most people end up having a car that just gets swapped motors, DF's Crusher Camaro for instance. it's become your blanket and you're Linus. Nothing wrong with that, and nothing wrong with wanting to go faster and KISS it.
I work with stainless steel alot and it always helps when it stops turning, go the other way a few threads and try to back it out again. Best way I have found, yes heat works also but in case someone doesn't have a source of heat.
It will be sad to see game over leave the channel and FSM, but I respect the reasoning for the decision. Keep pumping out the great content. Love the channel.
I love running stainless hardware in any application - engine, exhaust, suspension stuff - but the biggest problem is when removing it and if it galls, when you use heat, stainless (hardware or sheet pieces) always contracts a bit after it cools off...
In the first couple of minutes of this video you explained a lot to me. I've always wondered about the "HEMIs". I wondered if all the HEMIs out there were all Chysler based. You explained that your motor was a big block Chevy bottom end with HEMI heads. I couldn't believe that all the die hard Chevy racers and owners would put a Chrysler HEMI in their Camaros or Chevelles or Firebird or any other GM cars. THANK YOU!!
Hemi is just a style. Tons of them out there in the DOHC world. People are just used to them being the classic Mopar Hemi. Fun fact. The Gen 3 Hemi is only a semi-hemi. The hemi heads here has nothing to do with the Mopar hemi heads. These are heads designed by Sonny Leonard and will not fit any Chrysler product.

Permatex 09128 is anti seize for high heat like exhaust bolts. We use it on hardened turbo bolts all the time.

At those speeds, a top end cage and harness and a concrete wall is waaaay safer then being ejected in to a lake and relying on a pair of shorts.

Honestly while having Newbern around was cool I'm honestly enjoying the move back to solo Finn again. More relatable to someone who spends a majority of his time working solo in the shop.

Jesus!!! I forgot how Huge that motor is!! Omg!! And yes.. that intake with the 120mm( which is 5” !!) throttle body is a beautiful piece of fabrication!! It’s like the side intakes on 4 cylinders with the throttle body and angled intake…. That thing had a TON of air going thru it!! Wow. The charge tube going thru the intakes is cool! Almost like some Porsche /Penske looking stuff.
I’d so enjoy having something from your garage even if it’s a signed lug nut I’d cherish it I’ve watched you for years and enjoy every minute of it

I’ve been there. You get way more into the idea of the project when your deep in the middle of it that when you finally finish it, the sum of the labor just doesn’t do it for you like you thought it would.
I work on boats and drive them for folks for a living and always liked seeing that beast run and was always happy that I did not have to work on it :)

I have to again say a MUCH appreciative THANK YOU to YOU Mr. Finnegan!! When I was a youngster, I was the "flashlight holder" for my Dad when he tried to do mechanical work in our gravel floor garage. To this day, I remember that bolt that wouldn't budge and got its head stripped or broke off or the tiny part that accidently fell and hearing it go tink, tink, tink as it plummeted somewhere never to be seen again. My Dad getting FURIOUS and throwing whatever tool he had in hand and saying "It's ALWAYS something!!!!" (I had a secondary job of thrown tool fetcher too LOL!). I thank you for coming up against these types of issues but keeping a cool head of acceptance and just going to the next step to unravel and fix the unforeseen problem. It is a fine example to myself and those of us not so gifted with your mechanical abilities. It keeps me coming back to your posts and always will Sir. Can't wait to see the return of the Caddy adventures and the new Game Over motor project!!
6:47 My brother works in the aerospace industry, and he told me that they coat bolt threads with an epoxy primer to help prevent galvanic corrosion. Not sure if that helps with boat turbos or not but I was just talking to him about this problem.

I use my benzomatic torch constantly, mostly for lighting my charcoal grill but I have definitely also used it for fireworks and maube even my bomg in a pinch.

This video was worth watching just to see you finesse that galled bolt out and learn you can retrofit an engine hoist for air over hydraulic lifting.

Mike, if you want to go fast on the water you need to race a flat bottom drag boat. Many years ago I stepped up from a Nordic pickle fork w/jet drive to a 1972 Hondo 5/8 runner bottom. I went faster in the Hondo on 1/2 the motor than my Nordic ever did.

That would be a cool thing, what can you go racing with and in with that Sonny Leonard engine. Most people end up having a car that just gets swapped motors, DF's Crusher Camaro for instance. it's become your blanket and you're Linus. Nothing wrong with that, and nothing wrong with wanting to go faster and KISS it.
I work with stainless steel alot and it always helps when it stops turning, go the other way a few threads and try to back it out again. Best way I have found, yes heat works also but in case someone doesn't have a source of heat.
It will be sad to see game over leave the channel and FSM, but I respect the reasoning for the decision. Keep pumping out the great content. Love the channel.

I love running stainless hardware in any application - engine, exhaust, suspension stuff - but the biggest problem is when removing it and if it galls, when you use heat, stainless (hardware or sheet pieces) always contracts a bit after it cools off...
In the first couple of minutes of this video you explained a lot to me. I've always wondered about the "HEMIs". I wondered if all the HEMIs out there were all Chysler based. You explained that your motor was a big block Chevy bottom end with HEMI heads. I couldn't believe that all the die hard Chevy racers and owners would put a Chrysler HEMI in their Camaros or Chevelles or Firebird or any other GM cars. THANK YOU!!
Hemi is just a style. Tons of them out there in the DOHC world. People are just used to them being the classic Mopar Hemi. Fun fact. The Gen 3 Hemi is only a semi-hemi.
The hemi heads here has nothing to do with the Mopar hemi heads. These are heads designed by Sonny Leonard and will not fit any Chrysler product.
Those things are great, garage stuff, fireworks, evicting spiders, cooking it does it all.
