    BE CAREFUL IF YOU'RE ORDERING IN EUROPE! I have one of these, and it doesn't explicitly say on the purchase page, but if there is no option for touchscreen, you won't get a glass screen either. Instead you will get a screen that looks like a vivobook, so plastic bezel and screen. Still OLED, still pretty, but no glass protection, which is annoying as f*** because I bought it hoping I would get a durable screen. Also I had to RMA it because the tab key was not springing back. I've just received it back today and now the keyboard is mostly fine except for the backspace, which is sometimes a bit rattely. Not very pleased with ASUS. Apparently they do this more often, where they advertise a certain spec list, even on the european advertisement page, but then send you another one with things like a different screen. Luckily I could get it for quite cheap.

    • @86Sheephead
      @86Sheephead 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Where in Europe did you order from? I've been looking at picking one of these up in the UK but not if it's non touch and matt. Pretty shady on Asus part not to make it obvious the specs differ between regions. I've also had keyboard problems with their laptops in the past, I had the second gen G14 that broke twice in 6 months. The second time they refused to repair it saying it was user error despite breaking from everyday typing on it. I don't think it's too much of an expectation that a keyboard can be typed on without the keys literally popping off. The worst part was they wouldn't send it back without me paying them £60 to post it. Basically keeping it ransom til I paid them.

    • @Uxcis
      @Uxcis 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@86Sheephead jesus that last part is really infuriating. I ordered mine from the Netherlands, so I'm not sure if the model is the same across all of europe, but I imagine so since mine shipped from ireland. Make 100% sure every spec you want is on the purchase page in your region because if it's not mentioned then it won't come with it. One clarification though: the screen is plastic, but not matte. It's very glossy which was what I was hoping for, but it's also not completely tight if you get what I mean. It's not flat. So any reflections will look like one of those fun house mirrors. I don't know if it's a legit complaint but I find it a bit distracting sometimes. Asus has definitely lost some trust on my end. I might just need to buy a macbook when I need a new laptop to compensate for the bullshittery lol. They take the QC seriously

    • @86Sheephead
      @86Sheephead 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Uxcis Thanks for clarifying that for me, the product pages make the display look like a single piece of glass. Very deceptive and pretty frustrating when we have to pay a premium in Europe. Yeah the key popping off and not being covered under warranty was poor from Asus I thought and to repair 'outside of warranty' as they put it would cost £325 for a single key and switch. I ended up buying a whole keyboard deck from Slovkia and replacing the switch myself 😅

    • @86Sheephead
      @86Sheephead 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Was your unit a 4060? In the UK it looks like the 4060 and 4070 have different displays. Non touch and weirdly slightly brighter on the 4060.

    • @Uxcis
      @Uxcis 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@86Sheephead yes the 4060 model, the 4070 was not available in the netherlands. In that case I guess go with the 4070 since the screen is better, though I don't think the gpu is all that more powerful than the 4060 because of power limits. And battery is pretty poor, worse than advertised so keep that in mind. Also 325 pounds for a SINGLE switch????? They replaced my entire keyboard deck because of the tab key lol.

    Awesome video Andrew! It’s a tough choice between the Asus Zenbook Pro 14 OLED (UX6404) and the Lenovo Slim Pro 9i 14 laptop but if I had to make a choice, I would go with the Asus. I love the gorgeous OLED super bright display, the generous port selection, the clear 1080p webcam and the clear mic array. The battery life while not great, it’s to be expected since the OLED screen takes in more battery power. All and all, it’s a fantastic laptop that should not be overlooked! Thank you Andrew!! 👍😁

    Nice PC. Camera and mics are good. Speakers are okay. Very good display. OLED is always good on these units no doubt. Portability is okay for travel. One has to remember when you want a PC with a good graphics card that a bigger power adapter will go with it. Excellent review.

    For laptops with OLED screens can you talk about the oled subpixel structure as well as the manufacture of the OLED panel itself? It's really interesting to see how manufactures combat OLED burn in with modern subpixel structures. Really awesome and indepth review, wish you the best! Keep it up!

    Excellent review, I have this exact sku with the 4070 and your points were spot on. Simply put, ASUS have done a really great job of making a creator’s dream laptop. I’ve upgraded the RAM to 48gb and it replaced my Desktop PC in my workflow as this laptop is that powerful. 2 downside though is in real world use, off of wall power, battery life during actual office work is nowhere near 7-8 hours as you stated let alone 10 hours that ASUS claims. Fully charged on power saving, the max I’ve seen is 4h 30. The other downside is that it only comes with up to 2TB skus, which is unfortunately not enough for some creators nowadays.

    • @lukebarkermusic
      @lukebarkermusic 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I wasn't aware of that model...didn't really think there were any other manufacturers doing such high specs in a 14" laptop. Just had a look on the Lenovo website and it's interesting...the 9i is actually cheaper with i9-13905H (seems identical to the 13900H in the Asus...no idea why they have different model numbers, perhaps some revision on the way the CPU is made (it does have a different socket according to the Intel website)...wouldn't be surprised if it had some AI accelerator added to it but every typical spec like core count/clock speed is the same).
      Anyways, so i9-13905H, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD and RTX 4060 is £2140 on the Lenovo website. Asus Zenbook Pro 14 OLED is £2199 on Amazon (but £2499 elsewhere) for 16GB RAM, 1TB and RTX 4070. So Lenovo gives you more RAM, Asus a slightly better GPU.
      But Lenovo does have an option to go up to 64GB RAM and RTX 4070, thus beating out the Asus but the price goes up to a hefty £2750. RAM is faster on the Lenovo in all configs. The Asus can apparently be user upgraded to 48GB but that's the limit and its still lower speed RAM.
      Hard to decide which is best. Another difference of note was that Lenovo say the 9i can draw 100W of power, Asus can draw 125W. Due to that the Lenovo only needs a USB-C power adapter whereas the Asus needs a seperate power brick for full power, or USB-C for lower performance. Of course allowing that higher power draw may give better performance...or not if all that 25W is taken up by the OLED panel...I don't know if the mini LED panel is more efficient. I do hear reviewers saying mini LED can get brighter though...and the refresh rate & resolution are just a little higher on the Lenovo. So it does seem like a difficult choice between them...each have some little areas that beat the others!
      EDIT: 6+ week shipping on the Lenovo according to the website so that may be the final decider for anyone comparing these models now. I'm probably going to buy within the next couple months, may be worth waiting to see if there are any Black Friday offers...

    I've read other reviews where they also clearly states that the 'pink' Touch digitizer matrix was visible on white and light coloured backgrounds... Like it seems all other OLED and touchscreen laptops apart from the Samsung Galaxy book range... Did this unit also have this issue as you don't seem to mention this as a negative... But as always thanks for the great reviews!!! I qoute "Asus equips the Zenbook Pro 14 with a high-resolution OLED touchscreen. The resolution of the 14.5-inch panel (16:10) is 2880x1800 and the subjective picture impression fundamentally very good, but the picture quality is slightly grainy due to the touchscreen. Like the mouse cursor and text! It's okay, but the "white pixels" are a lot more brighter on an OLED panel...

    It would be very helpful if you could mention how much you actually paid for the laptop (with the actual specs you review) instead of just the starting price.

      I didn't pay for this laptop as it is a review unit sent by Asus

      @andrewmarcdavid oh sorry I missed that. But going on forward, I think we all would appreciate the actual spec price of the review laptop. It really helps with price comparison in different markets.
      P.s. I really enjoy your to the point reviews 👍🏻

    I like this thing but I really goddamned hate that so many companies are hard-soldering at least half the RAM to the goddamned motherboard. Also, ASUS is lying if they claim 16+32 is still going to give you dual-channel performance.

    DON'T BUY IT
    Here is why. My experience: Purchased new. My unit had two defects: (i) buzzing speakers, and (ii) high-pitch whine/noise on battery power. Sent for repair. Received the unit back with the original issues + physical damage to the laptop chassis. Sent it for repair again. Received the unit back absolutely ruined, completely bent, with huge dents and screen shattered.
    I just can't speak to an Asus agent about my specific claim. It continues falling back to a default RMA proccess that involves shipping in the damaged unit and then receiving it back in a couple weeks time even more damaged. I am not interested in fixing this absolutely broken piece of e-waste. I want money back, or at very least a new unit.

    So make a wise decision
