Mr Alex Tech - บันเทิง
I just got myself a new 2nd monitor & now I see this.
Ha 2nd monitor is alot cheaper tbf! 😄
@@MrAlexTech Yes, that monitor will allow me to work while saving up for the Zenbook Duo.😆 Hopefully by then they'll have made some mods on the stuff you mentioned. Great review! 👍
Great review! Highly considering of getting this 👌
Wow that price caught me off guard, I was expecting a much higher pricetag on it. Surprisingly affordable considering the tech and form factor.
Less money than I was expecting and a very cool device. Thanks.
This was an incredibly useful and well informed review. Thank you so much for your honesty both on the pros and cons. You were very fair in your assessment and I can only hope that Asus takes your critiques to heart and makes the next generations even better. Excellent video! I thank you for all your hard work. I have learned so much from you, over years at this point.
Thank you! Appreciate it.
Very good review Alex! Caught my attention!
I have this laptop. Max size here in the U.S is ultra 9 185H and 1TB SSD. I bought it for college. Since I’ll need something powerful enough to run 3D modeling software and mastercam CNC G-code software. Only SolidWorks didn’t run great out of the box, but with some tweaking it became bearable. Mastercam and Inventor ran smoothly and the wireless keyboard was incredibly useful when using the model as a reference for my machined parts. Only thing I need to solve is having more USB/C ports cause I use a wired mouse. I’m also thinking of making an eGPU setup for 1440p max settings gaming. Since this is a powerful CPU, loading up the GPU with the power should lend to good performance in most games those ports are both Thunderbolt 4 afterall.
Looks really cool.
Because you mentioned it: It would be great to have a Workflow Tutorial. Your Workflow for Editing your Videos would be very great. Sometimes I feel a bit slow while editing my or the the customers Video.
Very nice review ! thanks
I have had one for a couple of weeks and absolutely love it. Surprised you didn't mention the dials & control panel in Screen Expert
i am eyeing one for around $2000 , is it powerful enough for that price or the price just for the dual screen function? thanks
This was perfect in every way until I began trying to be productive and actually work on it using heavier programs like blender or unity, which is the main reason I needed two screens. There was no lag at all, but what was worse was the laptop kept shutting down.
Basically as long as you aren't running any 3d programs, this laptop is perfect in every other way.
Great review. But you didn't try reviewing gaming performance on this 32gb Ultra 9? Since this didn't have a dedicated gpu, I got the oled, Ultra 7 155H, 16gb model on release and it suprisingly does everything i ever want if needed. Even gaming was actually possible in high settings on this intel arc igpu, with the right steps.
Hi! Thanks for the review! I'm looking for a good performance laptop for graphic design, illustration ane animation. Do you think this would be a good option? I use Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, After Effects, maybe a bit of Premier.
Also, is it comfortable to draw in the screen like for replacing a wacom tablet?
Commenting in case they respond to this
Love it!
I recently bought an 18" Asus ROG STRIX laptop to use as my away from home computer. I am a keen photographer and I am also starting to get into video. I am currently half way through a 20-day trip and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Photoshop, with lots of add-ons, works flawlessly and I have had no problems at all with DaVinci Resolve. The 18" screen is a joy to look at.
Hats off to Asus.
Wish they made something like this that was high performance for Davinci Resolve. Would be absolutely amazing. Love the review though. Got me very excited until you got to the Resolve part lol. Alex, what is your recommendation for a laptop to run Resolve? We plan to live mobile in a van for a couple years, and we are full-time editors, and are really worrying about what laptop to get!
Damn it. I was thinking of switching from my M1 MacBook Pro to one of these for photo and video editing (mainly because I prefer Android over iOS), but it really sounds like I might as well stick with Mac for now. Really seems like this thing, despite being the highest spec available, is only just good enough for 4K video editing.
Really depends exactly what you're doing but yeah it's not a high end video editing rig. It did pretty well for what I needed though tbf!
I am on seriously struggling to decide between this new asus laptop or getting a MacBook with an m3 pro chip. My thinking is if I get the MacBook, I can use my iPad as my second display. However the asus include everything in one…
I am a UI and content designer so I need to consider a laptop that will support my job.
Anybody got any advice for me here? Would really appreciate it.
The screens look awesome 😎 I have a OLED Zenbook Pro duo UX582LR, performance is great, battery is terrible, laptop can heat your home even when just browsing and unfortunately using the pen has been pretty useless as the angle and feel of the main screen isnt good for it and the second screen is a little small and fiddly. I wanted it for 3D sculpting and drawing. Saying that I don't regret the purchase, just didn't want to have to take a drawing tablet around with me. It's great to add controls or tabs to second screen and edits effects etc with ease. And the best thing is having two touch screens is the closest I'll get to being in Star Trek 🖖 live long and proxy
At first glance I like - wow! On the second thought I kinda: do I really need that? 😊
Beautiful review... thank you...they should give that computer to y for free...great job
I thought I needed something for doodling ... 😬
Follow-up to my previous comment, I’m looking at the price and I think they’re pitching this wrong, I would upgrade the screen in terms of brightness in colour, 120 Hz whilst impressive less relevant, improve the battery and sell it for Apple like prices and I actually think they’ll make more money and more sales. Actually, maybe not more sales, I see it sold out, but more profit.
Ahh yeah I see your point! However, people do tend to make a big fuss about 60hz these days. There was a massive thing about one of the iPhones being 60Hz. I do think it's overblown though as I'm currently replying to you via a 60Hz monitor! More nits/colour goodness would never be a bad thing though so I agree with you there.
bruh tf are you talking about 😂🤫 don't tell these companies they can price higher, do you not like money? fuck all that exclusivity shit actually
WTF. Look for any other computer with the ultra 9. They are over 2k and you are asking to raise the price.
interesting. Thanks.
Alex, you do these videos very well and maybe you should do some more but independently. I read the website and watched your video and found yours to be very useful. This dual screen set up is an absolute yes for people like us. The problem is, I want Apple like battery and screen colours with brightness. It’s very impressive, I’m an almost, so close.
Oh I'm definitely getting myself this when my cash stores restored. That's video editing on the go in grand style!
@@celestepalm6949 agree, the two screen layout is brilliant for that. My problem is I’m coming from a MacBook Pro M1 16 inch and the battery life, screen for HDR and build quality mean that whilst it’s amazing value for money, I’d prefer more expensive option that covers those things.
I see stores selling the high-end Core 9 32gb version with 1TB SSD meanwhile on Asus official spec sheet it's supposed to 2TB just like yours. What's going on, are the stores swapping out the SSD?
tbh that seems to be the only version available when i search it online , even on asus india's website it mentioned core 9 with 1TB only
I had an Asus ZenBook Duo. I loved the speed and convenience. BUT I discovered that it was very fragile when it fell off a table in the RV onto the (not that hard) floor two feet below, The screen was destroyed. Fortunately, I had insurance on it. I replaced it with a dell xps 17 fully loaded and that has been my workhorse.
I had to return mine as i was only getting 3 hours max battery life,
How's everyone else's battery?
Oh ohw another Studio license 😅
Crazy laptop ❤
My previous Resolve vid has 40 '5 minute fridays' within it, so I reckon that cleared me for this one haha!
I have a Zenbook duo 2014, and i Simply love the dualscreen^^ the only down side Is the mx450, but who cares^^
If you can afford it, it's the only way to go if you need dual screens. This will definitely be my next laptop.
wow, you got quite an impact, the Asus Duo is sold out in many retailers.
VERY cool. If the OLED screens were as good as my Lenovo X1 yoga gen 2, I'd buy it in a heartbeat!! Except for... it lacks physical mouse buttons above the trackpad and no fingerprint reader option.
It has the option of two 1K or two 3K screens. I'm using the 3K version right now, and the OLED displays are absolutely perfect. I can't see how it could get any better for 14". I only use an MX Ergo trackball (will never use a mouse or trackpad again and haven't for 15 years. Once you track, you never go back. You don't need a fingerprint reader when you have face ID. The only issue I have is with battery life but I bought a charge pack to sit underneath it while its propped up.
I was concerned you wouldn't get to the USB ports. My Vivobook Pro has two useless USB 2.0 ports of the four. I would not have bought it had I know. I was wondering why it was taking hours to empty my Lumix S1R.
Did you mention SSD capacity?
2TB
The USA version comes with 1TB only.
A worthy tool for any content creators who travel a lot. The only downside is the almost non upgradability.
Does the second panel automatically turn on the first time you removed the keyboard? Mine has never turned on
(i dont own one) i think it is. you might want to check your laptop and make sure its working properly
Alex! Where the f¥#k is Resolve 19!?? if we don’t get it, I may slit my wrist. What the…? Four days from NAB… I’m dying.
I have bad eyesight. My 14" Lenovo ThinkPad is difficult to see. I've moved files to wrong folders, GOOD BYE. I carry a 21 inch monitor (mains powered) half the time. A friend told me about add on monitors for laptops, $700 hmm..
This would check all the boxes. I was contemplating a 16" anyway. Thanks for this!
❤
Asus should produce some specilty keyboards for this lhing, like one with a job dial, or a piano keyboard
Thickness will be the issue I'd imagine!
I hope you see this. You might be the only one that can help... Its not related to this video but hoping since you just posted this one you check the comments. Im having issues dropping music and sfx to my timeline. When i play it it sounds stuttery and jittery. I have checked all the settings which are:
1- Made sure my play back frame rate is the same as my timeline
2- My Audio I/O settings - Playback Processing Buffer size is set to AUTO
3- In the Preview widow (...) i have it set to Show all Video Frame rates
4- Cache rendering is set to SMART
Am I missing something?... Ive done everything everyone says in TH-cam. Im gonna try to call support but figured you might see this and know the answer or so? Or If anyone can help I will much appreciate the help. Thank you!
I would uninstall and reinstall and see if that solves it. At least then you'd have all settings at default and you know they should work.
@@LifeofJohnG Yeah I guess I can try that. I did the new update right before so I wonder if it's a bug from the new update. I'll tell you what is happening if you want to test it. So you select an IN and OUT point from a song before dropping into the timeline. Then when you drop it in the timeline extend the song dragging from the corner like we usually extend a clip then play it. Im in the new updated version so not sure if the new update messed something up. Are we supposed to back up our projects before the update? thank you for your time
@@armando.visuals Sounds strange. But tbh, I rarely use in out until its on timeline. I've never used it on audio. I edit that on the timeline. Quite often I add markers and just cut or drop volume. I may do a video tmr so I'll look into it. I'm no expert mind you. Just a user of the free version.
@@LifeofJohnG i set the in and outs on the preview window to set the part of the sound or song etc if its a long portion and only need part of it. Regardless it shouldn’t do that. I guess ill wait to talk to them this Sunday at the BlackMagic Convention. Thank you!
@@armando.visuals I can understand why you do it. Out of interest, if you drag the audio onto its own audio timeline and then cut it, does it do it then? Maybe you've found a bug. Good luck at the convention. That'll be good I'm sure. Cheers.
The new snapdragon cpu which has been optimised for davinci will be the lappy to get as it has great battery life and MacBook or better performance
Yeaaah I've tried to contact them a few times to see if I can play it when released! No reply yet but fingers crossed.
@@MrAlexTech I am sure Asus will be there at the start with a few great options
only if its coming with out fans with power then its my future xd
Wish it had a dedicated gpu
Give me 16 inch version of this magnificient laptop with nummeric keyboard.... otherwise I will have to use an external keyboard with a nummeric pad
This is great. Looks amazing. I’m a mac guy but why can’t Apple innovate like this?!
Because they know they'll get your money no matter if all they do is change the most miniscule thing every year.
@@JoeF330 think you nailed it.
Apple don't really innovate these days, that hasn't been their model in years really. They tend to watch what others are doing, wait until the kinks have been worked out and the tech has improved, then 'reinvent' those things and just make really really good versions of them. Which on one hand is annoying, on the other kinda makes sense ha. If I was in the laptop manufacturing game, that's probably what I'd do too 😄 Which is why I get excited when brands do take risks and try cool designs, like this one!
You use the phrase 'as well' too much. Just lop it off the end of your sentaces with the vid ed. They don't add anything and a bit of pause at the end of a sentace is good for presentations 🙂
No way that's 14 inch?
Type type type pretending to do work! lol 6:03
whilst it may look cool - the actual product does not work. Its sluggish - and when switching orientation - it switches off. In fact use the web camera and it switches off. Try talking to Asus customer services in the uk - which is non existance. They hide behind emails. When asking for a refund - they first state 3-5 working days - now i have been told it will be 10 working days. The company is run like a corner shop. No professionalism at all
I'd rather just stick with a trusty ol MacBook. I love innovating, but some things are just better kept simple
