I agree about cleaning the house before bed nothing feels better than waking up to a clean home!
Our leftovers never go to waste. We portion them out and freeze them. Three days a week we eat leftovers which is money saved because I don’t have to buy groceries for those days. We also eat them for lunches. Also when I have to be out of town my husband has healthy meals to eat. When our kids moved out I continued to cook for 4 so we would have leftovers. It really does save us money as it motivates us to eat at home and not eat out as much. Also with my health issues sometimes I just don’t feel like cooking so leftovers allow me a night off and I can save the meal I would have cooked for another time.
Some leftovers taste better the next day, especially spaghetti!
I adore your modest home. We downsized last year from over 3,000 sq ft to 1,900 and we absolutely love it. It takes me no time at all to clean and tidy so we can spend more time as a family, do the things we love, and serve others. I went through a big health journey this past year which prompted our move. God used that trial to put things into perspective. The big house and having more stuff doesn’t matter. It is nice temporarily, but doesn’t last and doesn’t satisfy. The discontentment just flows back. The grass is never as green as we think it is on the other side, just a different shade of brown! Contentment is learning to appreciate and be grateful for where God has us now. Thanks for sharing your world with us, Karrie. It’s a joy to watch you and your sweet family. Blessings! ❤

Stunning at about 8:30! Moving a 70-pound piece of furniture in bare feet is just that--and she was being a girl! Karrie has strength in everything she does!❤❤
I am all about doing a light cleaning of the house before bed, especially the kitchen! Then a warm shower and bed. Waking up to a clean and fresh smelling home starts my day right! All I have to do is drink water, exercise, shower, dress for the day and have coffee before anyone else gets up is my idea of self care! We use our leftovers for our work lunches, we purposely make enough of each dinner so we each have a lunch the next day. I make my bed every morning so no dust or dog hair gets on the sheets (I really dislike the feeling of grit or dog hair on my sheets when I get into bed). A squeegee to take most of the water off the tile walls and glass door after each use can also minimize the need to clean those as often because it take any soap splatter and hard water. I make my own natural cleaner: get a gallon jar with either a screw lid or rubber seal lid (old fashioned hook lid), as you use lemons or oranges, put the peels in the jar and top them with vinegar (apple cider or white, your smell preference), once it’s full, let the peels soak in the vinegar for about 2 weeks, then pour off the liquid using cheese cloth or fine mesh strainer into another sealable jar, discard the peels and start over. You can put some of the citrus cleaner in a small, glass spray bottle for surface cleaning; add some washing soda or powder detergent (like clean and free Tide) to do a deeper cleaning or for floors. I will freeze the peels until I have a full jar’s worth before soaking them in vinegar and I also use the cleaning vinegar (6% you get on Amazon or Grove or Thrive); I usually have 1-2 gallon jars soaking so I always have cleaner ready to use. And yes, we go through a lot of citrus fruit in our house so the peels do accumulate quickly.

Hi Karrie!!! In my opinion......yes! do paint the barn door! Another thing on your forever to do list is finish off the cabinet space by the glass door for more storage space for your mops or vacuums maybe?
Beddys is very good quality. I have 4 of them on my kids beds, and I love how tidy it keeps their beds. The material used is nice and the sewing is sturdy. Very easy to make the beds. I don’t wash every week, more like once a month 😬. We’ve had them 2 years and they still look great.

Living with Cambria has the beddies for her 3 kids and has had them for a while and says they're great and she cleans them frequently
Also Hannah’s Happy Home had them for her 2 boys.

Amy Darley is another TH-camr that I watch and she has had the same set of Beddys Bedding for her kids for like 4-5 years and she washes them bi-weekly. I have used many things she has recommended and have yet to be disappointed!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE how the island looks. I think that it is a perfect color and compliments the barn door. I was sad to see the accent wall go, BUT, i think it looks GREAT with how everything is coming together.

No! Don't change the color of your barn door, it's a beautiful contrast to the light colors of the rest of the area. Too much white, gray, etc makes a home look sterile and boring. You do a great job of balancing colors and neutrals and as they say if it aint broke don't fix it. Keep up the great work, you're a very sensible and relatable young woman 😊

I bought a Beddy’s for my king size bed. We had it for about two years. We had a navy blue one. I washed it every one to two weeks and it did fade some. But over all it was pretty good. It was really comfortable. It was really nice when you have toddlers and small babies because they were always on the bed and being able to zip the bedding up kept the bed tidy and made when they were jumping and climbing all over my bed.
Murphy's Oil is what I use. It can be used on Tile, Laminate and, of course wood.

Hey Karrie! I wouldn't paint the barn door. You have so many things painted and I think the barn door adds warmth by your dining room table. That being said.... Crystal Tara has her 4 children with Betty's bedding and she loves it. Check her out! Have you ever thought of leaving the rug out of the living room for a change? The room looks so much larger! Just a suggestion! Oh! Your lamps in your bedroom, why do they wobble like that? Don't they have some type of bolt at the top? One more thing.....try putting some lemon juice or Lemon oil in your vinegar water. Makes it smell so fresh! I promise no more suggestions! Great video, Karrie! 😂🤣😂❤️
My parents were born in 32 & 36, they were dirt poor, growing up with 6 ppl in our home, leftovers were rarely thrown away, and even today my hubby and I eat leftovers all the time, some things are better the second time around, I just think it’s how and when you were raised. 😊
Love 💕 the barn door the way it is. I think it compliments the other side of the house when you look at it from the front entrance or back entrance. You have the dark from the living room then the dark barn doors. But overall, the house looks fantastic! Great job 👏 in what you do. I’m sure your family is proud of your accomplishments. 😊
Vinegar is not good for floors anyway. The acidity breaks down grout in tiles and the protective coatings tiles and many other types of floors have. It can also erode certain types of stone. So just stick to using cleaners meant for what you are cleaning. Tide can do this to floors too. Floor cleaner for floors, laundry soap for laundry. Use pine sol or dawn for floors.
I've just stumbled upon your video and I had the same issues with the scent of vinegar and essential oils...now I use citric acid instead. No smell at all, cleans perfectly ❤️

I love leftovers. I don't cook so my husband does all the cooking and meal prep on Mondays. Its a life saver for me. I know the vinegar smell is a lot to take but you do get used to it. It cleans my floors so good. Great video Karrie ❤
We cook to have leftovers so we don't have to cook daily since we both work and there is no time to cook. I'm so glad both of us like leftovers.

I do have the beddings for my boy's bunk beds and they have been a game changer. I've had them now for about 4 years and I wash them about twice a month and they are still holding up great and they are very easy to put on and take off. Definitely worth it in my opinion

I like most leftovers lol😊 but I try to portion them out for the freezer while I’m fixing the meal. The part I find most annoying is cleaning up so many things after I eat when I want to relax. Having fully portioned out meals set aside in advance saves me that task and I know I have food to take to work later in the week.

Are you thinking of painting the barn door a dark color, or light? I think it would be good either way. The wood is really pretty, but the direction you're leaning towards, painting it would look really nice!

Scentsy cleaners are wonderful to use and are safe for kids and pets!
You can soak orange and lemon peels in vinegar for 2 weeks. The oils from the citrus takes over the vinegar smell and is perfect for cleaning.

I've never been a fan of leftovers either but I will eat it based on what it is. You should send Crystal Tara a message about the bedding. She has them so can give you a lot of info about them.
A great all around soap for moping, washing hands, etc is Castile soap. You can find them with scents or without. You might like it!
Amy Darley here on TH-cam had Beddies for her kids for over 4 years and washed them all the time. I haven’t had them but hers looked great year over year and they are definitely machine washable.
We were a family of 5 with 3 being VERY tall boys with “hollow legs”. When they all moved out, we struggled with not making large quantities of food.
Oh I'm sure that was an adjustment!

Good video. When my kids were still home Wednesday was leftover night. I pulled them out and we fixed plates out of them. Any thing left got dumped. Of course use your judgment if its to old or luke soup cooked the day before I didn't dump. We ate that for lunch etc. Now irs just me and hubs. I bought some divided plates with lids and make them with the left overs to heat and eat. Just an idea.
A small house is easier to clean but the challenge is how to maintain is clean and a safe place to live. Nice video! 🙂

Awesome video! I have tried non-scented cleaners and have added just a few drops of vanilla (for baking) to it and it worked wonders. I also do that with paint because I hate how paint smells and it definitely helped with that too. Your house is gorgeous, I watch both of your channels. We like leftovers over here, we don’t throw anything away, we love the food we cook. Actually we think about the leftovers all night and/or throughout the day hoping we’d be the one to get them, because there’s never enough for more than two servings😅

I have been using the pink stuff floor cleaner love it pricey but going on month 3 with same bottle use half a cap full for my whole home which has laminate flooring ❤❤❤❤❤

I LOVE leftovers! I wish I had them every day! Lol
I have always emptied my dishwasher as soon as its done. And put dishes in as they get dirty so there's never dishes in the sink. And when i cook i clean up as i go. So when we're finished eating all that's left to clean up is what we eat out of. Then i run the dishwasher and empty in the morning and start over. I no the vinegar does not smell very good but you could try lemon essential oil or orange. And the vinegar is a disinfectant also not just a good cleaner.
You should do a bench in kitchen with baskets under it

Just wait until you have teenagers and they eat everything in sight! You will no longer have issues with leftovers!! 😂 Your home is beautiful! Even though there are challenges with less storage space etc, smaller homes are definitely easier to maintain! And it’s nice and cozy! 🌷 Love your channel and all the cleaning motivation!
